Foreign troops in Somalia

Why does the TFG need foreign troops (Ethiopian or AU) in the country? Why can’t the TFG assert control in the trouble regions on their own the same way that the ICU did?

 

I would really like to hear from the people that supporter foreign troops in Somalia.

To impose an unpopular (even reviled) regime, the TFG, on the people while chasing away that which came from the people.

They can't. No one wants them. The only way they can stay in power is through the barrel of an Ethiopian gun. Once that goes home, they'll be ousted.

The TFG has one thing the ICU doesn't. They belong to a wide array of clans. Many in mogadishu are from one clan and especially those in the south xamar feel that a government is one led by a man from Puntland who is trying to exact revenge.

 

Do you think the ICU could walk into Bossaso or Hargeisa without feeling clan tension? That is similar to what the TFG is facing. However many people from THE TFG are also from the "XAMAR CLANS".

The FT troops are needed to help secure volitile parts of the country while the FG armed forces are being build up from scratch. A national armed forces comprising all the cross sections of Somali society.

 

These troops will stay only for a temporary period of time.

 

They will with the recruiting, training and equiping the new national armed forces.

For one party to go and get foreigners to fight along side them against another Somalia group will only create more problems.

 

Don't forget what happened the last time foreign troops entered Somalia and the crimes they committed.

^^^You ask so many question and ignore the answers given. The TFG is a broad based government, which is trying to build national army made up of all clans

 

For example the police force of Mogadishu are locas and not from anther region.

 

Thus the foreign troops will help the TFG with security, training and so on.

 

The last time foreign troops came there was no government and they did not have a political solution to the proble. This time the country has a national government that will lead the AU troops.
