Embarrassing audio recording forces Hizbul Islam spokesman to openly claim attack

The spokesman of Hizbul Islam recently stated that Hizbul Islam was behind the attack on Dhobley:

The question is, why is he claiming this attack now and openly backing Ahmed Madobe, especially after his earlier statement - (audio) acknowledging the authority of the Islamic Administration for the Juba Regions?

In this statement, he said that Hizbul Islam had changed its stance after discovering matters which were previously unknown to them.

Many people don't know that the answer to this question is a recording that was made by some brothers who phoned him and asked if Hizbul Islam was behind the recent Dhobley attack.

It will be interesting to see whether Al-Shabaab will respond to this open claim and frank support for the hyena and if/how this will affect the internal relations within Hizbul Islam in the coming weeks/months.

One of the questions the reporter asked one of the mom was, "where are you guys and whose is controlling the area. Her answer was waa dhulka Muslimiinta and Muslimiinta meesha xukuma.

I agree 100%, but the time has now come for them to make peace with the legitimate, elected, President of Somalia, Sheekh Shariif.

In what may be the first major development following this issue, Maxamed Macalin Cali apparently lost his job.

Reliable sources indicate that the chairman, Sheikh Hassan Daahir Aweys, fired him at the insistence of high ranking officials and key commanders within the party.

It seems that after taking strong countermeasures, the anti-Shabaab faction prevailed within the party for the moment.

The latest reports indicate that they have managed to persuade Sheikh Hassan Daahir Aweys to review his earlier decision to dismiss Maxamed Macalin Cali and the latter is back in office.

There are also rumors that the hyena has secured a higher position for himself and is even mentioned as a possible candidate for the vacant post of vice chairman.

Lastly some sources say that the party's defense secretary, Sheikh Muuse Caraale, has apparently resigned and was replaced by the more anti-Shabaab minded Ismaaciil Xaaji Caddow.

If true, all this would mean that the good relations between Hizbul Islam and Harakat Al-Shabaab Al-Mujahideen could come under severe pressure.

But nothing is official yet.
