The Swift Boat Effect

Recommended Posts

Why do u think Kerry lost, was it because of:

The Swift boat bashing

The flip-flop charges

The clarity of the Bush Campaign

The Liberal label

The Vice president pick

The lack of direct attacks to Bush

Or simply that the Democratic donkey was blinded by the media hype...that they stood a chance against the stampeding republican elephant

All of the above especially the flip-flop charges, the clarity of the Bush campaign, the Liberal label.

I would go further and say Bush is true to his conviction and the conservatives in general are not ashamed of themselves in being fervent ideologues whereas democrats come off as half-hearted, half-committed to their conviction. In the debates, Kerry defended that image by saying that you could be certain and at the same time be wrong. Democrats have some soul searching to do.

Americans are obsessed about Natinal security. They think Bush will protect them what so called " tettorist attacks". I think OBL's last video helped a bit too.

Dare I say none of the above. Its the alliance between the neo-cons and rural America that clinched the hatrick, if you could call it as such. Hard core conservatives succeeded in convincing average America that the only way to defeat Islam, salvage Western civilisation, elongate American's economic and military supremacy whilst resuscitating the church influence is to take the battle to the Muslims in their backyards, dilute its core influence, and send Bibble-embracing, boy George to the White House for four more years.

On a more serious note though, what is really at stake is the ailing justices at the supreme court. With justices Rehnquist in hospital for contagious colon cancer amongst other things, and O'connor, Stevens and Ginsburg falling due for retirement, potential nomination for justices is critical, thusly conservative America is neither willing nor could it afford to give the bleeding liberals a hand in shaping the future of the empire.

As matters stand at the moment, you have got three liberal justices and three conservatives with Rehnquist, the Ace, filling either quota though leaning more towards the conservative corner. And with Bush at the helm, you have got conservative America at the Supreme Court for the next half a century. Thusly, none of the following: Gay marriage, abortion and global alliance on an equal footing - deeds had thus been committed to action.

Cheers.

In other words Warrior, what we expect for the next four years is an enhanced program of an already commenced crusade, merciless of course this time, since Geogre "General Jesus" Bush fears no more hangin chads in Florida..

Salaamz,

I think that the OBL tape helped re-install the 'Fear' image and helped to push the 'BUSH' the American Gladiator persona.

Laakin ruunta xaada laa isgo shegoo, waa fuuley daadkaas, iyo waax ee yaaqanaan baaba iskaa yar!

This reminds of the Cold War era because it was the same sensationalism and 'fearism' (except now adays, things have been 'Hollywoodized' and this 'constant imminent and unpredicatable attack'theory IS perfecttt for any state to gain Allegiance from its Citizens... ) that started the 'Arms Race' for Nuclear Weapons and the ever heroic battle of 'Democracy' v. 'Socialism/Communisum'

Alahuma caazas aal deen wal mumineen!

Alahuma caazas aal deen wal mumineen!

Alahuma caazas aal deen wal mumineen!

Ameeeen

I think Kerry lost mainly because he was unable to grab people's attention, he lacked the charisma that Clinton had and Edwards has. Also he wasn't as clear on his plan for America as Bush was and responded to Bush's flip-flopping charges too late in the game. The Bin Laden tape also helped remind voters that there is this "threat" and that Bush is the person that may secure the nation. Bush supporters also connect with him on religious issues. The list goes on as to why Kerry was defeated. I don't know, it is just sad that Bush was able to get re-elected, who know's what he will do next?
