Now Yeey is gone what is next ?

Finally, the warlord-president who has been on the center stage of the nasty Somali politics for the past painful two decases, has caved into pressure from all sides. We may enjoy and celebrate his inevitable fall; taunt his cheerleaders and make fun of their clannish blind loyalty for the heck of it but we need to think beyond this and be visionaries and not engage the silly name-calling and Qabiil bashing.

On the face of Yeey resignation, I think it is a positive development but now Yeey who many considered as an impediment to peace no longer controls the destiny and fate of Somalia, so the question that naturally comes to mind is what is next? Who can we trust to lead us out of this tragedy of self-destruction? Are we about to repeat the same old-age Somali mistakes of replacing one warlord with another, one crook with another? Are we going to surrender to the wishes of our enemies or to whims of our clannish instincts? Are we going to put our trust on the same faction leaders who put us into this hell on the first place? Remember they are all around and vying for power. None is better than the other, be they Islamists or clan bozos.

Are we going to allow the same petty Somali politicians’ caprices in appointing the next leader? We are at the crossroads now. We can choose to continue the same ****** clan rivalries and thus prolong our suffering.

What mechanisms can we be put into motion to make sure that the selection of a responsible and diplomatic person to this important position is not based on clan vendettas or factional partisanship?

I think that the replacement of warlord Yusuf with another warlord should be thrown into the trashcan. There is going to be the doubling of the transitional federal parliament with groups of Islamist as the Djibouti accord of power sharing stipulates. how would that work?

Can some of you political heads comment on this and contemplate on the next step and how we could all salvage Somalia...forget Yeey's downfall for now....
