I support my countries new Peace thus I support the new Somalia 'Time to rebuild it'

Recommended Posts

Norf, saaxiib i wont ask you to justify a reign that you are not responsible for, just your support (if any) for the ideology that drives it.

The self preservation is interesting, we could get all Descarte about it and say since we're talking about human organisations they must serve human interests, so self preservation is at the heart of any human institution.

It is interesting to look at it that way because the actions of an institution good or bad is then the result of how those action help the members of the institution. Be it the peace the ICU brought about, the political stability of the waqooyi administration, the relative economic prosperity of the bari, or the mayhem of the TGF. These are all the results of a set of self preservation interests being played out with a constant balancing act to find how much can you can skim off and still remain in power.

The problem with the comparison to other peaceful entities is that though the aims of somali politics are no different to anywhere else in the world, our driving ideology is bloody and emphasises irreconcilable difference. Its not like you can change clan like you would political allegiance.

That is why the end result in somali politics is truly flawed - i.e. it doesn't matter that clan X has built 100 hospitals because its driving interest are the members of clan X, so all other clans are now in competition for the resources to build 101 hospitals for their members, of course plus what ever can be skimmed of the top for the leaders. Therefore the interest for people to propagate the ideology.

Even worse, these leaders are no longer accountable for their actions to anyone except to their members and somali culture tells you support them unquestionably since they are looking out for your interest so they get away with murder. So really we cant compare then to other peaceful entities because their core driving forces are so warped.

Fundamentally, this is why support for all that define themselves along such likes is wrong - in our somali case the outputs like the relative political stability don't change the incentives that drive the ideology, in fact they strengthen it. The forces that may be are simply paying back for their position and prestige.

Give us ideologies are inclusive and we can discuss difference in outcomes but with the current somali mentality, we will always be discussing who is being wronged and what dues they will play out when their time comes.

To end my rant, i'd just like to appeal to you to see that support for any segregation based regime in somalia is simply support for the perpetuation of an ideology of segregation no more.

^^your doing quite well for a lazy Sunday i tell ya.

My anti TFG stand stems from them bringing gaalo to kill dadkooda when peace was so easy (the best opportunity) to attain. I would speak against anyone who does that. Which also means speaking against their supporters. I did not and still do not consider my pro SL stand as being contrary to the aformentioned. Niether does a more holistic approach to the Somali political arena.

Sorry but still at work,,,,,

Abwan don't twist my words pls and pass not something I did not say on as I had said it because of your poor comprehension of the English language.

It is a classic case of selective reading I encounted on you many times this is not a criticism but I think it has to do with your ability/command of the English language and as me and probably you English is a second or third language I shall not further harass you with it but let me clarify a few things for you.

My quote again:

* Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad was the first person in Somalia after a failed coup’d’etat who started the armed resistence against the regime of Mahammed Siyad Barre. He was the first to show others what they did not dare and soon they follwed his footsteps.

In where does it say Abdullahi Yusuf was the first one who made a coup'd'etat? Please enlighten me?

Furthermore where does it say that he was particularily leading that coup'd'etat? Please enlighten as well.

All I said was he was the first person after a failed coup'd'etat (notice it doesn't say he was leading the coup but he was part of the officers who were participating in the coup that's why he left towards kenya as you put it) to start an armed struggle against the regime of Mohammed Siyaad Barre.

He was the leader/chairman of Sodaf which later became SSDF as they combined with the leftists socialists lead by Abdirahman Aydid who were in Aden at that time and only a non-violent movement.

Under his leadership of SODAF and SSDF Abdullahi Yusuf waged the first guerialla attacks on Somalia as a jabhad (guerialla movement in order to oust Siyaad Barre). He was the first one to fire the first bullet in the long civil war and compaing to get rid of the late Mohamed Siyaad Barre. So don't get it twisted. Your English comprehension skills are really poor.

Now read my words again in slow motion, will you?

* Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmad was the first person in Somalia after a failed coup’d’etat who started the armed resistence against the regime of Mahammed Siyad Barre. He was the first to show others what they did not dare and soon they follwed his footsteps.

^What does it say?

Abdullahi Yusuf was the first to go to Ethiopia and start a military compaing to oust Mohammed Siyaad Barre. The first armed guerilla movement of Somalia was Sodaf/SSDF. Radio Kulmis/Halgan it was what the majority of the people used to listen to as it send their signals to Mogadishu and across Somalia, everyone listening to that radion station was impressend so people listened quietly under their bed and in deep fear of informants even in their own houses.

SSDF was the only guerilla movement known in the country and the first oppostion to Siyaad Barre which wanted to remove him violently from the Presidency spot and Villa Somalia. Abdullahi Yusuf wanted Siyaad Barre's chair long time ago and he never gave up it took him over 30 years to sit on it finally and here he is.

SSDF was the only group that had the logisitcal and military means to wage a guerilla war on Siyaad's regime. They had major supporters Libya and other countries who used to supply them with cash, arms and medicine. SSDF was the only realistic movement that had both a political agenda and military might and power to challenge Siyaad Barre.

SSDF was the prime, it's downfall came in the mid 80's after disagreements with the Ethiopian leadership under Haile Mariam Mengistu who purged SSDF after getting suspicious of Abdullahi Yusuf's activities and his involvement in internal affairs and the bribing of high ranking officials and some assassinations that happened, furthermore Mengistu got really suspicious of him, that's why he was arrested in 1985 after that SSDF only functioned for a few more years before it was completely outlawed as an armed opposition/group by Mengistu and their camps closed and Abdullahi got arrested as I said in 85 only to be released in 91 when the Regime of Haile Mariam Mengistu and the Ahmara fell at the hands of the Tigre and a young Somalia graduate by the name of Atto Meles Zenawi.

So next time please read before you reply to anything I wrote. I know it is complex but there are more complex ways of expressions and I only use simple English so next time read and read again until you get what it is actualy saying what you're reading before making any assumptions.

Thanks for your consideration.

2.1 Somali Salvation Democratic Front (SSDF)

General Mohamed Abshir Musa, Chairman

Prior to January 1991

The SSDF is comprised mainly of members of the ********* clan of the ***** group of clans. It was the first resistance movement to oppose the rule of General Barre in the late 1970's. It developed around an unsuccessful coup attempt by ********* officers on 9 April 1978. This coup was led by Colonel Mohamoud Sheekh Osman ('Irro'). A total of 17 officers were arrested and received death, life imprisonment, or other long terms of imprisonment.

The leaders of the coup who escaped arrest fled to Ethiopia. They joined forces there with the leaders of the collapsing SODAF1 (Somali Democratic Action Front) to form the new SSF (Somali Salvation Front) in April 1979, with its headquarters in Addis Ababa. Colonel Mengistu of Ethiopia supported the new SSF, as a welcome relief in balancing the pressures that his Government was under from the Eritreans in the North and the WSLF (Western Somali Liberation Front) in the East, who he perceived still as being armed and supported by General Barre. In particular, he saw the SSF as his channel for waging guerrilla warfare against General Barre to offset the guerrilla warfare by the WSLF against him.

Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, a senior participant in the prior coup attempt, became the dominating leader of the SSF. The SSF had to first prove their reliability and usefulness to the Ethiopian Government by conducting a trial raid across the border in Somalia, in which 39 out of the 50 militiamen were killed. Then, the Ethiopian Government tried to use the SSF, together with the Ethiopian Army, to attack the WSLF inside of Eastern Ethiopia.2

The SSF was not able to continue with its primary mission, of attacks across the border in Somalia against the Dictatorship, until it received substantial financial and military aid from Colonel Muammar al-Qaddafi of Libya. The condition for this new support was that they had to adopt the "Green Book" of Colonel Qaddafi.

Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed was now able to lead guerrilla attacks across the border from Ethiopia into Somalia against the Government. General Barre responded with massive retribution against innocent ********* citizens and destroying whole villages based only upon the suspicion that they might be supporters of the SSF. The ********* General Mohamed Saeed Hirsi ('Morgan') proved his loyalty to General Barre in directing these atrocities against his own ********* people. This included some of the first examples of General Barre's officers encouraging their soldiers to rape innocent ********* women as a form of punishment for the ********* clan.

In October 1981, two smaller organizations with headquarters in Aden joined together with the SSF, i.e. the Somali Workers Party and the Somali Democratic Liberation Front3. They changed the name of the new resulting organization to the SSDF (Somali Salvation Democratic Front). However, this new SSDF was quickly paralyzed by internal fighting. The former SSF had 7 of the 11 members in the new Executive Committee and tried to use this democratic majority to impose its own clan-based ideology upon the expanded group. The new members of the group wanted to broaden the base of the SSDF to include many non-*********s – and they were supported by many of the ********* members of the SSDF.

As the original SSF leadership saw their position weakening, they worked a deal with the Ethiopian and Libyan Governments to "surrender" to the Ethiopian Government. Then the Ethioipian Government was able to crush the remaining left-oriented faction of the SSDF. The Ethiopian Government was also able to make raids into Somalia, labeling them as SSDF raids.

By 1985, the SSDF had stopped almost all military actions, particularly in Somalia. Most of the leading leaders switched sides and joined with General Mohamed Siad Barre, under his offers of reconciliation to bring all Darods together under his command. General Barre also used strong economic incentives, such as using funds from Italy for construction projects in the Region of the *********s in order to paralyze their SSDF. Therefore, the SSDF remained neutral throughout most of the war-of-liberation.

Colonel Mengistu arrested Colonel Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed and several of his key aides and held them in jail until the end of Colonel Mengistu's regime, i.e. from 1984/85 until 1991. An Ethiopian from Dire Dawa, Musse Islam, claimed to be the new head of the SSDF for several years. Upon his release from prison in 1991, General Abdullahi Yusuf resumed his role of leadership of the SSDF.

Even though the SSDF did not provide any official military resistance to the dictatorship of General Barre during the last years of the war-of-liberation, many individuals, who had belonged to the SSDF earlier, did continue with individual acts against the dictatorship.

Waxaan maqli jirey 13 asasaayashi leegeda (SYL) malinti uu Kacanku dhashey wey kordheno waxay noqdeen 14. It is quite astonishing when one wants to twist historical facts to serve his/her own interest.

Horta Mr.Complex hal mid iga ho..C/llahi Yusuf had nothing to do with creation of SSDF, in contrast he depleted the importance of the organisation as a figure of a national unity against the Barre (Allah uu naxariste)_ regime.

SSDF existed long before C/llahi fled Somalia, and it comprised of reputed figures ranging from different tribes of Somalia. However because of clan animosity between Barre's tribe and that of the last democratic president of Somalia, President Sharmake (Allah uu naxariste) the armed and combatant elements of SSDF derived mainly from the tribe of the latter who were escaping from persecution in Somalia.Nevertheless SSDF as an organisation was at peace withself - untill - enter C/llahi Yusuf.

Now, you say he fled after the failed coup and that he was part of it - you are right in a sense, but do you know what was his role in the failed coup? No, I pressume - but here you are quoting from tainted text book. So let me add this to your info, many believe, and when I say believe, they are adamant that C/llahi Yusuf was the reason why Barre's regime found out about the planned coup. And as a result was hastily brought forward than the planned date - result failure and capture of the coup leaders.

SSDF, C/llahi Yusuf single handedly destroyed the nationalistic element within the SSDF - he has turned into a tribal faction - and to the record they have not waged a single armed struggle against Barre regime, on the contrary it decapitated and its leaders where, suprisingly pardoned by Barre and they were all re-instated to the posts they held in 'dowladi kacanka'.

SSDF , yes it was the first 'jabhaad' formed - but it was not formed by C/llahi Yusuf - furthermore it did not ever wage war at all ( unless ofcourse you consider war the blatant propoganda from 'radio qurmis') - except help the Axmaro capture Balanballe and even in there the Ethiopian flag was hoisted. Has C/llahi Yusuf ever commandered an army, nope. Most of the victories he claims were done for him by Axmaro - and even those are numbered and they are two (1) defeating the democratically elected government of Jamac Cali Jamaac in Puntland -(2) eliminating the ICU in Somalia. Ironically both work were done by Axmaro and C/llahi and his disciples claim victory - when everyone knows the truth.

" These arms are in the hands of individuals or organised groups. Pacifying

Mogadishu would need time and patience and winning of the hearts and mind of the

general public. There is no military solution for peace in Somalia and the TFG is

determined to bring peace to every corner of Somalia.

There is a real opportunity to restore peace and good governance in Somalia. This will be achieved by a process owned by the Somali

people. But for it to succeed the international community must be involved. We hope the United Kingdom will lead the world in this endeavour.

Let me conclude by saying that Somalia has seen better and more peaceful days. It has also seen a democratic system of government. I am sure it can be turned around, and it is my aim to make Somalia peaceful enough for democracy to flourish

once more. I hope we can count on your support."

President Abdullahi Yusuf

Nabada Soomaaliya I am not denying that English is not my first language but at least I know how to spell my username correctly in Somali.

In your reply you haven't really come up with good tactics to conceal how you tried to change history but more abuse towards the words "first and only" as much as you could.

You are still insisting that he was the first to take armed rebellion against Siyad Barre's government and might be even trying to convince us that Abdullahi who languished in Ethiopian jail might have been the reason behind Siyad's barre's fall.

My friend we all know that SSDF tried to overthrow Siyad Barre and I respect that they did their part but don’t try to give its credit by the man who I think destroyed it and finally got himself into trouble.

I don’t think that I need more proof to know that Abdullahi wanted to rule Somalia but the point here was that he wasn’t the hero you are trying to make him, who suffered to free Somalia from a bad government. He simply was a power hungry traitor whose corruption even had to destroy SSDF.

May be the next story you want to come up with will be Abdullahi was the 15th member of SYL haye? Saaxiib celi beeca.

Question to my friend Duke are you really sure that Abdullahi was the founder of Puntland?
