Puntland Security Forces Conduct Security Operations in Bari

Bosaso (PP News Desk) — Puntland Security Forces yesterday conducted a security operation at the Almisked mountain range where ISIS fighters have hideouts.

In a statement posted on Facebook Puntland Security Forces had given brief details about the operation carried out at Timirshe and Tuurmasaale villages. PSF thanked locals for their cooperation during the security operation. PSF has not disclosed information about any casualties or arrests during the planned operation to target ISIS fighters in mountainous areas of Puntland State.

PSF operations limited capabilities of ISIS and Al-shabaab to carry out suicide bombing and targeted assassinations in Bosaso.

Locals at areas close ISIS hideouts complain of threats and extortion by the proscribed group that, along with Al-shabaab, maintains a presence at areas that are inaccessible due to poor infrastructure.

Puntland State Government ramped up pressure on Al-shabaab and ISIS forces. Security analysts believe the security reform initiated by the administration of President Said Abdullahi Deni had resulted in efficiency, accountability and coordination between security forces of Puntland.
