Nuradiin Farah

A Somali Writer

Widely recognized as not just "one of the finest contemporary African writers" but as "one of the most sophisticated voices in modern fiction"(New York Review of Books). His fiction has been translated into more than a dozen languages and won numerous awards, including the 1998 Neustadt International Prize for Literature. "Widely regarded as the most prestigious international Prize for Literature and most literary awards after the Nobel" (New York Times).

Nuruddin Farah was born in 1945 in Baidoa, Somalia. The author of eight books, including the trilogy of novels known as Variations on the theme of an African Dictatorship. Exiled from Somalia after his novel Sweet and Sour Milk, Farah began what has become a lifelong literary pursuit “to keep my country alive by writing about it" His three novels Maps, Gifts, and Secrets. Comprise the "Blood in the Sun" trilogy, and all are available from Arcade Publishing.

qoryolay tuug, thanks for the info on this author. i had enquired earlier about his full name and more info on his books in another post by a member named sophist that fist sparked my interest in him, for which of course he had failed to impart but he is forgiven lol
