The need for improvements and revision of the Somali Language

Recommended Posts

The Somali Language needs desperately a revision to modernise it not only in terms of its vocabularly but also its written grammar and the whole mechanism of sentence-construction needs to be redefined and uniformed.

Currently the language has become free-for-all kind of thing with no uniform way of spelling words or rather even constructing normal sentenses.

In addition to that, the Somali alphabet needs to be re-evaluated. Letters such as "P" and "Z" need to be added to the language, in order for certain words to be distinguished spelling-wise.

For example, what is the distinction between: Bur and Bur?

Bur as in "Bakaylow Bur ka Bood"

"Afar Kiilo oo Bur ah"

Or between Bar & Bar, Bari & Bari

Bar = Teach

Bar = Birthmark

Bari = Tomorrow (As in Bari ii kaalay)

Bari = Land (As in Bad iyo Bari)

My solution to these kind of words is that for example: Bari (Land) should rather read "Pari" with a capital "P", "Puro", "Par ama Paro" etc

Suldaanka, sxb

you said:

Bari = Tomorrow (As in Bari ii kaalay)

Bari = Land (As in Bad iyo Bari)

correction:

Barri = Tomorrow (As in Barri ii kaalay) you forgot to add "r" otherwise the sentence would be completely wrong

Barri = Land (As in Bad iyo Barri), again you forgot to add "r" there.

Now as you can see, a simple method of distinguishing between them depends on the sentence, ama jumlada aad dajjineyso iyo sida aad carrabkaaga u xoojiso(rr) marna aad u dabciso(r).

examples: barri ii kaalay, or barriga waxaa ku nool...,etc

for the word bari without the other "r"

example: bari hore waxaa jirey

you can't say barri hore waxaa jirey or barri danbe ii kaalay hence you can say and use soft tongue bari danbe ii kaalay and bari hore waxaa jirey

anyway, I don't think the Somali language needs "P", I would favor the "Z" as in Zahruuja or Zeynab(seynab), Zakariye, I think we use a lot of Z in our daily writing systems, but never P.

Suldaan waad ku mahadsan tahay danaynta aad siinayso luuqadda Soomaaliga.

Nuune mahadsanid adiguna saaxiib sida aad u saxday erayada uu Suldaanku soo qoray.

Waxaan u malaynayaa luuqadda Soomaaligu uma baahna erayo cusub oo lagu soo daro ama hab dhismeed cusub oo loo sameeyo, laakiin wuxuu u baahan yahay barasho intii hore een haysanay yaynaan noqon "Doqontii xaabada qaadi wayday ee ii kordhiya tidhi" waxaan uga jeedaa hadaad maanta aragto qoraal soomaali ah oo daabacan waxaad ka nixi sida wax loo maluuqay.

Tusaale ahaan;

1 Waxaa la iska indho tiraa dhammaan xarfihii laban laabmi jiray "MNLGRD" markaasaan la kala sixi karin xarfo badan.

2 Waxaa la iloobay inta badana la hafaa shaqalkii dheeraa "AA EE II OO UU" markaasuu qoraalkii noqday wax wada daba go'an.

3 Waxaa lagu soo kordhiyay xarfo aan laban laabmin sida "S" "haSSan"

4 Waxaa dhammaanba aan xisaabta lagu darin NAXWIHII markaasaadan kala garan karin in hadda laga sheekaynayo iyo in tagto ama timaaddo laga hdlayo.

Anigoo badiyay waxaan filayaa inay lama huraan tahay in laga fakaro in luuqada Soomaaliga wax laga badalo laakiin waxaan odhan lahaa bal horta inta aynu hayno aynu kurtumo tirro
