Recommended Posts

cadnaan1,

You must be sleepless now googling Tigray or kililka and waiting on your screen something Tigray or Liyu to show up. lol

Google for Gen. Samora Mohamed Yonus + constitution and you will find pages and pages telling officers, trainees, soldiers, or town hall meetings the same thing.

here is main points what he said:

1. Ethiopia is on top group in ground and airforce of the continent

2. Navy needs to be modernized and strengthened we need to develop that part

3. I was extremely proud of what the armed forces did during the recent transition. Very professional

4. This professionalism with the keeping the country safe need to continue

5. Coming wars will be proxies not direct confrontations. Countries have realized direct confrontation needs very high price

6. The recent crises in the country was political, economic, social and general demands of the people

7. Wars are now done by governmental and non governmental even individuals Intelligence is still the most important. We need to focus on all fields of battle from .....he did not say it directly but gest of it is from facebook to the mountain

8. The forces being reflection of the countries nationalities will continue

Where is the navy - Djibouti, Port Sudan, Somaliland and or Puntland, Lamu, ...lol and if is going to get bigger where?

Things he did not mention:

State of emergency which he does not mention even in any meetings. Might be modified or lifted soon.

Eritrea which you would expect to be mentioned in armed forces meeting

Did not mention any country at all - I guess when he said all faceted relations ment sudan

Don’t doubt the influence of the military elites. Abiy owes them as his entire polical fortunes were turned around by the Tigray’s endorsement.

That is very true, but the military also realizes if one fake news on facebook creates social chaos will be costly for the country. He also seems to have been able to calm the situation.

Leaders of OLF which is now ODF came to the country. Oromos for most part see the light. Now those who wanted federal system destroyed are in total confusion. Cannot go against a PM well received, but this PM is dedicated to see the federal system strengthened.

Transition is confusing everybody.

The EPRDF establishment is no doubt shaken by the sudden turn of events and faces a changing party. TPLF chairman has already expressed his displeasure with multiple issues, inc. release of certain prisoners and PM Abiy's speech in Ambo where he thanked the #Oromo youth—Qeerroo.

EPRDF's democratic centralism means the PM and his side (inc. Lemma, Demeke and Gedu Andargachew) will face deep criticism (Gimgema in Amharic). The TPLF chief has said the process that led to Abiy's election was outside the norm of Revolutionary Democacy. Mistrust is rife.

TPLFites say OPDO is flaunting party culture by not strictly adhering to revolutionary democacy and democratic centralism. The forced retirement of TPLF old guard has become a sore issue. TPLF boss has questioned the wisdom of replacing party elders who did not wish to retire.

Other issues likely to be deliberated upon at the Exec committee meeting: The continued displacement of Amhara civilians from Oromia and Benishangul; Abdi Illey and the Liyu Police onslaught in Eastern Oromia. The EPRDF bosses will also outline plans for party Congress in August.

THIS IS HUGE: #Ethiopia signals intentions to comply with the 2000 Algiers agreement and the 2002 border commission ruling. The boundary commission awarded the contested town of Badme to #Eritrea, which Addis refused to accept - leading to years of "no war, no peace" stalemate

Something to watch for -> last week TPLF boss Debretsion said: The PM's efforts to make peace with Eritrea won't succeed unless Tigray is involved. Warned the Federal govt not to ignore Tigray and pursue peace unilaterally. Said Feds should pay reparation to ppl along the border.

Debretsion Gebremichael is a member of the EPRDF Executive Committee that issued today's statement. Given EPRDF's history, it is inconceivable that his party, TPLF, did not agree to the decision to "fully" comply with Algiers agreement. But clearly there are tensions here...

Ifiye,

So far so good, general unity of the Somali people is holding even in the opposition.

There is a small group among the opposition that has openly sided with the Oromo, but are not expected to cross the line to the extent tto undermine Somali status.

lol

Shouldn't you atleast quote someone other than Oromopride Opride is Oromopride unless you didn't mind to get analysis of the situation.

Example the meeting just started. And Oromopride writes details. How does one know what is being said.

As far as release of Andargachew even Beqele Gerba the Oromo leader that was released said the same just public sentiment not TPLF leaders comment.

But what ever makes you happy.

Ethiopia called on Eritrea for implementing algiers agreement.
