My comment about general illiteracy - perhaps even mental infirmity - was meant to highlight the plight of muslim women in the West: mental servility. The only solution to that problem is education and empowerment.

Although no one holds a gun to her head, a burka-binded woman in the West feels that she needs to conform with the desert dogma of her parents and relatives. Yes, she freely chooses to don this dreadful, demeaning attire because she operates under the delusion that God, who apparently only whispers in the ears of men, requires this of her. To be sure, it's an effective form of disenfranchisement. What better way to shear away the autonomy and freedom of women than to appeal to the heavens.

Such a intelligent and well reasoned response. Congratulations to you for this level of thought.

Isn't it enough that men have forced Somali women to completely blanket-up, stopping "un-Islamic" wedding celebrations and even banning them to wear bras for God's sake!

Before this wave of fanatic Islamization of our country women wore traditional outfits that were simply beautiful. Just compare the following two photographs. See how we have stooped so low from this:

    to this:

"Forcing" our women to conform to any type of Islamofashion is not the way forward. I think a simple return to our secular Islamic traditions is in order. Time to throw away those blankets and start looking like Somalis... not Saudis.

Thank you. Aliamos. My language was harsh. I apologise if I offended anyone. But we have thrown away our traditional way of life because of the work of Saudis in radicalising the country. This has deep and profound implications for the future of the country.

The arabs look toward toward the europeans to develop their economy and infrastructure and what do we do?

We look toward the arabs who can offer nothing.

  3. Thankfully the Somalis here are not in a bad way. Mainly because there is not that many of us here. Perhaps less than 50.000.

In any case the community is well established and we have been here for decades. We behave (you have to in Italy) being in a Italian police station if you are black or brown is like being Gestapo camp. What is one to do anyway. Other than to get on with your life and hope for the best.

You don't know how fortunate you are to live in London or America. Opportunites wasted smoking khats and gang violence. Pray the British don't get sick of you and send you here in Italy.

  4. Cowke has made a excellent today. He said:

Peacenow, most somalis view whatever arabs do they must do themselves. It is something I am totally against, however the fact is that is the prevailing attitude on the ground.

Therefore my friend you will be what you are depending on who you look up to. If you look up to arabs, you won't go and advance any further then a backward arab. The arab however is quite smart, they themselves look up to the west and hire contractors from that part of the world to build their nation for them, that is purely the only reason why they advanced in the arabian pennisula.

Sudan is a classical example of african muslims who are starting to realize the "arab" copy cat behaviour has held their ppl backwards for to long and they are breaking out and bringing chinese firms and other asian firms to help them build their country. Good on them I Say!!!

The arab league has spent nothing on somalis, if anyone has helped the somalis during these tough times it is the african union and the U.N.

The arab league is nowhere to be seen when you are in tough time, they totally abadon you. That is not someone that I call a friend. However most somalis do, which is a shame!!! But there is hope the younger generation are starting to realize where their interests lie.

GD you show all these buildings. But without their oil where would they be? That new tower was built by a South Korean company and the workers are no doubt Indians. All they did was just handover the money.

If they were clever they would demand a local joint venture, demand technological transfer of know how, build their corporate capacity and use this new company to build their country, so they don't rely on others anymore.

Yes the Emiratis have a shiny new building but adeer ask yourself, who really benefits?

  5. Let's put things in perspective. Please read this information.

    https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/et.html

It shows you up to date information on the Ethiopian states.

Then read this information below. This shows you the size of their economy.

    https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2195.html?countryName=Ethiopia&co untryCode=et&regionCode=afet

A small European state like Estonia has a bigger economy than Ethiopia.

All it shows is how weak and feebled we are. That we see a country with such a small economy as a big bear.

Let work hard to develop Somali regions and grow GDP and build security.

Thank you very much. You have made my day. We must break free from all form's of colonialism including Arab domination and develop Somalia into Malaysia or Singapore.

We cannot survive Somalis to walk the streets of europe and arabia as beggars anymore and to be looked down on.

  7. I'm very impressed with Brunei women. The way they dress. They modernity and grace they keep. How can we incorporate this standard into Somali women?

I get completely flustered by the complete lack of grace many have degenerated into. Visiting London recently it was like visiting a camp in Afghanistan with the way they dress.

How can we force them to change their dress and behaviour to reflect not shaming us further?

How can we tolerate this kind of dress:

Now look at graceful and elegant Brunei women.

There is this tigree coffee shop close by my place, and everytime, i speak with eastern african immigrants, they keep telling how the somalis are doing so good in the west and other african countries.

I always get a royal treatment when i got there! Even the gals shake my hand!! lool. Go somalis.

We just need to figure out how to get usa out of our land!! Then everything will be all good...

deal! They been there since 1993 and this place is just getting worse and worse everyday. They are definitely the problem here. Its time to let the somalis resolve their issues as they have done for centuries.

Not true. Not true. What is happening to Somalis around is a calamity. It is a collective e suicide of the highest scale. Somalis are the poorest group in the UK and the community is drowning in violence and poverty elsewhere.

    Take a look at this.

  9. A court in Abu Dhabi has acquitted the man accused of beating an Afghan grain trader in 2004. Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahayan, a member of the UAE royal family, claimed he was drugged by two others.

    Is it really any surprise?

Watch this video and see the evil arab at work.

Shocking video footage shows UAE royal sheikh brutally torturing Afghan man

  10. Very insightful piece. Everyone should read.

Two points that stick out really again and again is what leads to this. The lesson is poverty and oppression.

Governments that in these arab countries are very adept at blaming everyone else (Israel and USA) for their problems but their in power and for decades and their people are poor and oppressed.

    Wtf is your point?

My point is that as of the result of the calamitous position we find ourselves in. It is meeting 'him' in that of most unlikely of position. Underneath the main railway station in Geneva in the mall. Of all the places where would least expect it. You will find him.

It is a sad example and reminder of the effects of the disruption and worldwide dispersal of the diaspora.

  12. The never ending nightmare humiliating calamity continues. It continues and continues and still ending. The constant reminder of failure and never escaping from it. There is no place you escape from them. Until you change your facial features to look apart from them.

I was in Geneva on December 7th and I was passing a small underground supermarket underneath the Geneva Station to catch the short train to take me back to the airport.

    There he was.

    He spotted me.

''Warya. Warya'' he said in a loud loutish voice. Did I know him? No. I hated that he felt that I had something to do with him.

I immediately spotted him. He wore raggy clothes, unkempt hair and lips full of open cold sores.

I wanted to die and the ground to eat me alive. I felt the searing

electric eyes unwelcome eyes of the Swiss as they walked past us. Welcome to Europe.

As we talked. I understood him better than he did me.

I speak the very weak Somali, that many are familiar with nowadays that is the product of nearly 2 generations spent outside the country. He noticed this. But I brushed this away.

I didn't give him any money. Cause he didn't ask for any.

Still even i felt sorry for him. Walking the streets being a poor Somali would be hell on earth.

Just another day being Somali in Europe.

Well let's look at the figures. I would roughly estimate there say 100,000 Indian students in Australia. Now say that is in any given year. No look forward 5 years and let's say we advance with that figure or more less. How many of that figure would stay for the long-term. Say 35%.

Now what is the population of Australia. About 19million. Over time that would be a tidy sum for a country of that 'small' size.

    Now, what would you do?
