26th of July will mark the transfer of power between the outgoing and the newly elected governments in Somaliland. This event is going to attract many people from all over Somaliland particularly Burao where most of the supporters of the winning party come from. A recent article published in one of the local websites has indicated the magnitude of the people moving to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland to attend the inauguration or to seek positions in the new government. Many of those from Al Shabaab or SSC could be part of this exodus towards the western part of Somaliland and could, therefore, be planning to stage their terrorist activities against the people attending the inauguration. The recent mayhem in Kampala, Uganda in which more than 74 people were killed by suicide bombers shows how these groups are determined to sacrifice their lives and kill as many people as they can. The return of Somaliland head of the CID/ Intelligence from a training in Ethiopia and the arrival of intelligence groups from MI 5 of UK few days ago is moral boosting and assuring , but it should not be taken granted that intelligence alone can deter terrorists. The killing tonight of one of the high court judges in Las Anod , of Sool region is an indication of how SCC supported by Al Shabaab has infiltrated Somaliland. Somaliland security forces must be vigilant and secure the boundaries of Somaliland but not only the capital. Maintaining security in the whole country has been the top priority of the outgoing government and it should be that of the new government.
