    Life

Rich or poor, wrong or right Blinkered eyes, suppressed sight. Tattered wings, grounded flight Diverse faith; black or white. Lonely child, secret might Hidden fears, suppressed fright. Poor or rich, right or wrong Clashing views, can’t belong. Shadowed dreams, hurried along Friendly foe; weak or Strong. Clouded sky, dream lifelong Dictated life, smothered Song. Happy or sad, live or die Veiled thoughts, see-through lie Broken path, crying eye. Secret mind, low or high Feathered wing, sunshine sky. Blood red thoughts, say good-bye

  9. LONDON (Reuters) - A 15-year-old Muslim girl has won the right to wear full Islamic dress at school in the latest European case pitting the religious rights of minority communities against Western ways of life. Widening a gulf between Britain and continental Europe on the issue, the Court of Appeal upheld Shabina Begum's case against her school's refusal to let her wear a jilbab, which covers the whole body except for hands and face. Speaking outside court, Begum, of Bangladeshi origin, said she was a victim of what she called a general vilification of Islam since the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States. "As a young woman growing up in post-9/11 Britain, I have witnessed a great deal of bigotry from the media, politicians and legal officials," Begum said outside court. "This bigotry resulted from my choice to wear a piece of cloth ... It is amazing that in the so-called free world I have to fight to wear this Islamic dress." The ruling, which delighted local Muslim groups, contrasted with France's controversial stand on the same issue. Last year, France banned all conspicuous religious clothing or symbols in state schools, including Muslim headscarves, Jewish skullcaps and large Christian crosses. Some German states have barred Muslim teachers in state schools from wearing headscarves. Belgium plans to ban overt religious symbols for civil servants dealing with the public. The European Court of Human Rights ruled last year that Turkey, the only majority Muslim country with a secular constitution, could legally ban Islamic headscarves at its universities to defend public order. "HOPE FOR MILLIONS" The three-judge panel found the High Court, in rejecting Begum's case last year, had denied her rights under European human rights legislation. "The school failed to appreciate that by its action it was infringing on the claimant's Article 9 right to manifest her religion," said Judge Scott Baker. Begum started at Denbigh High School in Luton in September 2000, and at first wore a shalwar kameez -- consisting of trousers and tunic -- which school rules allowed. But as her interest in Islam deepened, she returned in September 2002 with a jilbab and was told to go home and change. "Our belief in our faith is the one thing that makes sense in a world gone mad. A world where Muslim women, from Uzbekistan to Turkey, are feeling the brunt of policies guided by western governments," Begum added in her statement on Wednesday. "I sincerely hope, therefore, that my small victory -- to gain an education -- brings hope to millions of Muslim women round the world." The main group for the country's 1.6 million-strong Islamic community -- the Muslim Council of Britain -- welcomed the decision. "Those that believe and choose to wear the jilbab and consider it to be part of their faith's requirement for modest attire should be respected," council head Iqbal Sacranie said. The High Court had last year rejected Begum's argument that her education was suffering and her human rights were breached as a result. A judge said she had always had the option of attending school in clothes under school rules. The school, where 80 percent of pupils are Muslim, said it had lost the case on a "technicality" of rights law. Source

  16. You mention that u had a gay dogg and 2 pages later Diamante is the only one to take u to task on this lol WHAT THE FRENCH CONNECTION MATE!! lol u had a GAY DOGG lol is such a behaviour possible in animals? lol, It is veedhi possible mate, I once saw two cats at it, I was really fascinated. My uncle had to pinch me hard to make look somewhere else. Discussion of the Gay Gene this is a link to an article posted about the Gay Gene and people discussing about it. Some funny and interesting comments are made, read it if you have got the time. (especially AliVeritas comments!) An extract: A race of frogs who exhibited homosexual behavior were studied and when deprived of females a section of their brain grew and seemed to be associated with the homosexual behavior. If there were enough females and they could mate with them, there was no shift to homosexual behavior. Even the term "homosexual behavior" is misleading since the animals mimicked normal sex but with a male. So are animals releasing sexual tension, keeping in practice or homosexual? The penguins in the zoo who are being brought females will mate with them and give up their behavior. Happened many times, but the homosexuals do not want it to happen since it will show the penguin's normal behavior. Debating about Animal Homosexuality seems much more interesting now doesn't it, compared to that of Humans, since that subject has been dried up. P.S. Ngonge, poor Abood...so what did he do instead then seeing as he didnt have any takers

    GREAT movies

You would think after great films like Malcolm X and Set if off, black people would choose artistic integrity in favour of these flashy films that look more like shameless ads for gucci. have to agree with you there...BUT... "The Brothers"...they were just hunkadelic, never mind the bad acting and the "going nowhere" plot, just watch THEM (rrrr) Lord of the Rings, where do I start, where do I stop, It made me believe in elfs again, which was a wonder, as I had given up thinking they existed. I'm dying to go and see Hotel Rwanda, is it even out yet in the UK? A scary movie that I watched recently and scared me shitless was The Grudge (the Japanese version then, the American version doesn't even come close to the original). Probably first scary movie that had me rattled that much. Other movies that I have enjoyed watching include Mona Lisa Smile, Love Jones, A Beautiful Mind, The Godfather and Waiting to Exhale
  21. Acuudu Bilaah...some of you have got me scared with all that jinn talk  One particular childhood memory I remember vividly is that I believed Coca Cola would colour your hair orange... (I asked an uncle of mine why all the old men had orange beards/hair, I think he forget to mention it was henna they'd used  ) -------------------------- I don't believe in emails. 22. The sky is magnificent to the west, pink and orange swirled into violet, then darkness. A few tufts of carnation white sprinkle the rainbow sky, scattered about at the magistrations of a salt mist breeze. It plays havoc with my hair, this breeze, gentle but playful in its caress. The few shoreside firs which rise between me and the sea appear solely as two dimensional facades in black. Only their movement clarifies their identity. I came to the sea to drink of its beauty, to taste its treasures, perhaps to gain enlightenment from its wisdom. I maintain an odd group of companions; agates, shells, pieces of wood all rest happily beside, taunting me that this time I was alone in my haunting dances upon the sands. They do not understand that companionship for all levels of existence does not come so easily if one is not a stone within the sea, merrily passing existence with so great a throng of friends. Do I need too much? Or am I simply more aware of what there is, let alone can be? I look out over the ocean, a great fire burning itself out upon the horizon, and know I am at peace, happy. But I am not so peacefully happy as I but recently was; a fact I have been chasing away like a gull after my lunch. I sit here at sunset, a day upon the sands--granted treasures, speaking with the wind--because I thirst endlessly. There is a saying, “Dress me slowly because I am in a hurry.†So I sit here impatient, slowly sipping on memories of you.
