  1. The regional approved the measure. Other Southern Nations will certainly make the same demands.
  2. The Federal Government seems to be gaining the upper hand but at the end, it is better for them to settle issues through dialogue. Many deliverables need to be met, this unnecessary fight is taking time away from that.

  6. That's t the problem. This zero-sum game will not have winners. No one party is strong enough to subdue everyone. Even there was such party, it is better to compromise to find lasting solution. All wasted resources and time could have been used to serve the Somali people
  7. The presidency is ceremonial. It has no meaningful political value.
  8. There will no civil war. These regional leaders are problem children but the Federal Government has nothing to alleviate the situation or move country forward. They haven't finalized the constitution which contains mechanisms to resolve political issues. They haven't set up constitutional court where states and individuals can challenge the laws or political decisions. They haven't setup tangible security apparatus. The power of the regions will constrained by these measures.

  11. One of the suspects mysteriously died in a car accident in Riyadh.
  12. Initially the story was portrayed simply as soldiers asking for their rights but it looks like there is more to it. The situation seems very precarious.
  13. Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has said that some of the soldiers who entered the grounds of his office last week had wanted to kill him. At the time, he defused the situation by ordering them to do press-ups and joining in. Mr Abiy and the soldiers were seen laughing but he told parliament that "inside I was very unhappy".
