  1. The South African xenophobia to Somalis isnt something new, hundreds of Somalis have already been killed in the past for similar reasons.
  2. Source By Tshego Lepule Four youngsters aged between 16 and 26 are behind bars for allegedly accepting cash and tik bribes to kill Somali shopkeepers. The Bloekombos quartet are accused of taking money from jealous local businessmen who want the rival Somali store owners out of their area. The young men were allegedly given guns, money and drugs to kill the Somali shopkeepers and burn their shops. Monica Fritz, 55, said her nephew Terrance Fritz, 26, was arrested last week for allegedly taking part in recent attacks. "Last Thursday the police knocked on our door late at night and arrested my nephew," she said. "Apparently they had arrested another boy earlier in the week who they believed had taken part in all the Somali attacks that have been going on in the area. "So this boy told police that he wasn't working alone and that, in fact, he and a few others had been paid by shop owners to kill Somali shopkeepers." Fritz said she had heard Terrance and other young men were paid between R60 and R100 and given tik straws and a gun to kill or burn foreign-owned shops. "From what I hear, the boys would be sent out with the guns which were later taken back after the mission was completed," she said. Fritz, who raised Terrance, said the whole community had been talking about the Somali attacks months before they started. "People talk in our area and a few weeks before this thing began, there was a rumour that xenophobic attacks were going to come back," she said. "I heard Somali shopkeepers were being told to go back to their countries if they didn't want to get hurt. "What I don't understand is why these people used our children to kill." Fritz said the only explanation is the young men's greed for their next tik fix. "Tik is a horrible thing because that is how they lured them in, the message was clear 'Drug yourselves so that you can have the heart to kill'," she said. Terrance's mother Frances Fritz said it wasn't her son's fault that grown men took advantage of him. Eunice January, 47, mother of Xolisa, 24, said she had only learned of her son's alleged involvement after he was arrested. "I didn't know or suspect anything until the police kicked down the door to his shack outside and arrested him," she said. "I later heard that he and a few others were bought by local businessmen to terrorise Somalis. "I felt sick and horrible when I heard that grown men used our children to murder. "My son was a well-behaved person at home but with children one never knows because we don't know what they get up to when they are outside, so I don't know what to believe." Bloekombos Somali teenager Mohamed Husen, 19, said his 17-year-old brother had been shot in their shop over two weeks ago. "He was alone in the shop and these three guys came in to buy two cigarettes," he said. "Apparently they gave him a R50 and when he turned back to get their change, they shot him in the back and fled. "Nobody knows what their motives were because they didn't rob the shop or even wait for their change." Shopkeeper Abdul Fatah, 30, said he has been threatened a lot since he moved to the area. "I've been here for nearly a year and I've been getting threats," he said. "We're being told to leave and go back home because as soon as the World Cup is over, we are going to get hurt. "Although my shop hasn't been vandalised, I've heard a lot of things about shops being broken into and burned down. "We are all very scared and some other people have already left the country." - Daily Voice source: loL news

  4. He was fine until he started using D block in discussions. If he stops that he will be fine ofcourse, people dont get banned because you dont agree with them. I can say for sure that COwke was Dr Liqle who was a banned poster long ago, he will just return with a different name. Cowke what does 'Tribal gene'mean?
  5. Horta what does 'D' in the "D-block" stand for?? am i correct in assuming it stands for Da'bo'dhi'liif .. Cowke needs to be warned off his excessive and negative usage of clan terms in Politics or get banned, simple and there are others who are worse in this thread.
  6. ^^ Which part is true marka In line 1 he wrote that illahay xoolo hanaga dhigin dhan oo askari xunoo afrikaana inuu wax u qabto ka sugaaya miyaad aragteen. lets just attribute this first line to Shariif supporters which would still be wrong to call them xoolo nevertheless. In the second part he says Dadkii Somalia danyeer bee noqdeen This would translate to the people of Somalia are donkeys. Now is writing of the acceptable type to you to be allowed on here, and mind you this guy is a fervent anti Alshabaab poster and he already goes on records in the past where he clearly calls the people of Somalia barbaric. Not to mention the racist undertones directed at Ugandan African.
  7. This is your typical week for dinner. Change diet? hell yeah!
  8. explain to us why you support the dismentaling of a country. I wouldnt call it dismanteling since there case is not to permanently seccede and is only temporarily until a new Somali government emerges. The region has been undermnined by both Puntland and Somaliland and i would support the re-organization of these people to decide their own future and since the real threat for seccession comes from the Western regions of Somalia this would be counter influential to their designs in the region. Like i said creating a ssc country is almost laughable and not something that will ever happen, the reason i would support is strictly for the above. As to my original original question how is Somaliland any different?
  9. Yes, I would rather support SSC' s case, even though i know the seccession bit would never happen. The reports further explain that the SSC will always be open to reunite back with other Somalis and their regional administrations to make up Somalia again as soon as the moment is right and everyone is ready .
  10. "It is that vision of a united, strong and prosperous Somali nation that should direct the present and future." What a great statement.

  15. Awoowe you didnt seem to know the background to this man, hes an ardent seccessionist the former chairmen of the SNM. Ethiopia many of other foreign players who are Somalias enemy are at the core to the seccessionist theology, meaning of which they are the counterbalance to what Somalias has stood for for the past 30 years./ Instead of unity, seccessionism is the death of this and means division weakness of the Somali nation; the black star symbolizes this and much of this has been in practise since the beggining of the civil war. 'Ummadda Somaliyeed ka carrar' under the guise of being a seperate nation, its this antagonizing path that will ultimately bring an end to the seccessionist project. p.s. I dont mean this post to be viewed as a hate message, i obviously wish that region just like i do other regions the best but i am bothered the extent of which the North west and East has been practising the art of shining Ethiopias boots to a large expense of others.
  16. Just ask Caydiid and Cali Mahdi. Thats right and the Millitants you have today have not learned anything off those times, im sure when the two where fighting for Mogadishu in a similar fashion as today, the clowns you have today were mourning for them to stop the fighting and for them to quickly settle their disputes to form a unilaterally form a Somali state; also so that the massive displacement add to the refugee problems (like the ones you have today) and the anarchy and violence would also put to an end. 19 years on this clowns although they themselfes may not realize it are committing the same errors and are forsaking Somalia to a similar trajectory.
  17. Now your sub clan is going through its very own golden age..... How about that for a celebration.
  18. Good turnouts. It shows that many Somalis around the world have not forsaken their hope and patriotism yet because of the past and current events in Somalia.
  19. Add to the desperate attempts made by the diaspora communites to enhance votes maximum to the extent of putting Somali Ethiopians from the ****** on trucks to Somaliland to vote for Kulmiye on this election day basing it all on tribalism. I can tell you the voters from Sool and E. Sanaaq (if there were any) is immenselly small. We have learned alot from this election indeed. Kulmiye 266,906 Udub 178,881 Ucid 92,459 Correction: the registration rate was 1.1 Million. The population of UK is 62Million
  20. But, in Somaliland decision of her destiny is at the hand of her people. You know these wishes are only limited to certain places within the colonial borders of Somaliland. Just like the elections have proven to us. But ill put a rest to this, awoowe, i dont wanna bother this historical day of some of the Somalilland solers too much now.

  22. @Oodkac How about the foreign policy in regards to Sool and Sanaaq region And the new alternatives they may take in gaining recognition?? And lastly my last post also was not limmited to TFG and Puntland, i also asked about policies such as economy and investments in different parts of the public services.
  23. I thinks better to use the rest of the space of this thread to discuss the policies of Kulmiye and what the people in Somalia could expect from them.
  24. Ahmed Ismail Yusuf from the University of Minnesota, perhaps the star performer of the day, who got us up on our foot, gave an invigorating presentation about Somali Songs as a weapon of resistance by poetically vocalizing the heart-stopping melodies of Somali Songs dating back to the days of colonization. He focused mostly on how Somali songs proved to be more lethal than the spears and bullets in the Somali-Ethiopian war of 1977. One after another, the Somali Region speakers sought to demystify the notion that the Somali Region (******) is not a barren desert. They proclaimed the Somali Region is a land of abundance with green lush and dense forest complimentary to the economic activities of the region. The presence of large livestock and irrigable land surrounded by four major rivers coupled with the yet to be exploited mineral and oil reserves – make ****** according to Dr. Mahamud Ugas, one of the richest states in Africa. Sadia Sadia Halfway through the second panel another narrative emerged when Sadia took on the contending identities of ****** vs. Somali. At different times, Sadia noted, colonial governments tried perpetuating inexistent differences among us – the Somali people. The annexation of the Somali Region to Ethiopia and the subsequent creation of Ethiopian-Somali identity did not create in the people’s psyche Somali people are indeed different. Whether one looks north-south-east or west, “all Somalis are the same and the recklessly formed colonial boundaries must not be used to divide us”, she pleaded. She also boasted that Somalia never surrendered to any colonial power – despite a rampage of colonial scramble from the powerful nations of the time – Britain, Italy, France and Ethiopia. She talked about Somalia's legendary 'Mad Mullah' – Muhammad Abdille Hassan – Somalia’s national hero from ****** noted for his fierce resistance against the British. Another female presenter whose name I did not capture said, “Freedom and democracy are the only acceptable settlement to the conflict in the Somali region and the greater Horn of Africa. Pointing to the largely female audience she said, “Somali women have a unique and beautiful culture --- essential to retaining the Somali identity. “ Traditionally, women have always been at the center of our society --- “we have always remained on the periphery of the clan-warfare.” All the while, women fall victims to the most heinous crimes against humanity. For instance, the speaker noted how HIV carriers raped ******i women --- one of the many ways the Ethiopian regime attempts to cleanse ethnic Somalis. She then went on to justify how Somali men joined the movement to fight against what happened to their women. An overwhelming participation by the youth and women is a clear testament to a lively sense of entitlement to their cause. This is a quite astonishing dynamics when compared to Oromo and even other Ethiopian communities. There definitely remains some series house cleaning and a cultural orientation among the Oromo polity. Between Somali rangelands and Ethiopian mountains lies the ****** region, mostly inhabited by Muslim pastoralists with rich oral traditions. ****** was incorporated into Ethiopia – christened Abyssinia, in late 19thth century. According to Dr Mohamed Hassan who heads a research organization in Canada, ****** “was incorporated through an armed, African-style conquest.” The Anglo-Ethiopian treaty of 1989 formally settled the boundary between British Somaliland and Abyssinia, he said quoting Gerald Reece. That he stated is where Ethiopia’s juridical claim towards ****** comes from. Although the area now known to us as ****** falls under the British sphere of influence, the Britons never had policy on ****** – that is why they avoided fighting Muhammad Mullah. He continued, “…later on ****** was used as a bargaining chip to ward off the threat of Ethiopia arming the Sudanese Mahdi army and thereby curtail the advance of Mahdists.” Responding to a question from the audience, Mr. Roble summed up the western policy towards the region with an American policy example as follows. “American policy is solely about maintaining territorial integrity – that can be traced back to decolonization era when Britons decided to leave Eritrea in 1940s – Americans wanted to secure the control over Kagnaw station --- then helped restore Haile Silassie to power--- in return for permanent access to the facility. “
