    SP,

It's more about being in the right state of mind and finding the right person. IMHO.

  2. I don't think the basic education (and even health care) is ambitious, it's a right of all children and Maryan said at a recent event "Somali children need to be at school today, they can't wait for us to discuss the challenges'. Here is more on the education plan: http://www.unicef.org/somalia/SOM_resources_gotoschool.pdf - btw.. funding has always been available but the security situation in Central-Southern regions didn't allow for concentrated effort in rebuilding the state education system (must be said that there has been some private sector development- but doesn't meet the needs of the amjority). Anyway, if anyone is interested or know people who may be interested - SRFD is working closely with Maryam and there are volunteering opportunities.. http://www.srdf.org.uk/news/go2school-educating-for-resilience/

On a personal level, I find Maryan both ambitious on behalf of Somalis and genuine, M'A.

Actually this is great news, not only does Mogadishu get a nice fancy seaside resort, the Somali entrepreneurs themselves will follow suit in building grand projects, rather than the safe-bets of cafes and restaurants. Not to forget the other Western and Asian real-estate developers are no doubt following the project.

While we don't realize, or comprehend the value of Somalia and its location, the country is prime real-estate.

I'm surprised that came from you, Chimera. Somalis have been building and rebuilding the mother land for decades without the connections and money this man clearly has access to..

  4. ^Have a look at this one Che : http://news.sky.com/story/1082878/why-uk-is-opening-new-embassy-in-somalia

    This passage is quite telling:.

"Somalia is strategically important, both for its position on the Horn of Africa, and for its recently confirmed energy reserves. Because the country does not have a fully functioning infrastructure, profiting from its hydro carbons remains a plan for the future, but the UK and other countries are positioning themselves to co-operate with the new federal government." You are in good company; my qabiil-mates always say "you keep feeling good about yourself with your nice little job and all, islawayn waaxid; tolka waad u baahan doontaa one of these fine days", it is like the Sword of Damocles hanging over my head kkkk.

    Tan ugu jawaab:

    "Uf qabiilka anaa leh,

    Wuxuun baa ku adeegta,

    Nin iskii kartidiisa,

    Isagoon cid ku tiirsan,

    Isku taagi kareynin,

    Una haysta ateero,

    Ayaantuu dambi geystana,

    laga hoos galo eeda,

    Ayid waad is xigtaaniyo,

    Idinkaa isku reer iyo,

    Aqligii lixdankii,

    Maanta iib geli maayo,

    Sidaan aaminsanahayna,

    Abkuu doono ha sheegtee,

    Wuxuunbaa ehel ii ah,

    Si wax iila arkaaya ee,
