  1. DONT START i stopped smoking yesterday and well... its not so bad, except i cant seem to able to concentrate on anything! but alas, help is at hand!
  2. Zu, saaxiib your right, as you and aeronwen have pointed out, brotha nuur is getting an unnecessarily hardtime, however look at it this way, anyone less worthy wouldnt get this amount offlack and i agree that there is an irony in labelling him while complaining about the labels he assigns. the aim is simple, we shouldnt stand for chauvenism... we dont stand for rascism, we dont stand for qabiil, and nor should we stand for sexisms. The better, less confrontational way of saying what i've said is: ' nuur as a virtual elder in this community, please think about the message your trying to convey. I may agree or disagree with you, but thats neither here nor there. you have a lot of sway and your oppinions and articles generate a lot of responses. And as such, it is *incumbent* on you to set the stantards... especially if you see a part of your role as bringing enlightement to these here nomads' Sexims as nuur defined is: 'discrimination based on gender' its also the assignment of gender roles; .. u' cant do this 'cos . .. ... u're this 'cos Its the way a brotha looks at sista a 'cos she's wearing a pair of jeans. Its the lack of domestic equality as you so righly stated, its the fact she gets paid on avr.40% less than a man for the same job. its many many many more things that just lead to women being pigeon-holed to be exploitated. Now i'm not gonna question how an individual runs their personal life, how they are brought up and what values they are raised with and etc. but when i read the 'blah di resistor.. blah' it tells me 'if a woman dont fit my peg-hole here .. well .. .. and worst of all you attempted to justify it. You might see it as light humour getting a message accross, but your just giving the goons that kick a sista in the chest to keep her down more ammunition. where do i want it to from here.. as zu said, this wasnt enought for me, brotha nuur didnt proove, he stated and as an engineer, i want the proof. this however comes in the content of his future messages ...
  3. JOhny and Castro, man you old men are jokers !
  4. Look Baashi, it was I who did the labelling .. dont have enough time now but will adrress ya in full lata
  5. Baashi, runtii waad iga qoslisaa, wallal, fahamkeyga meesha uu ka qaldamey ii sheeg.
  6. Baashi man your frustrating ... u still dont get it, how explicit do u want me to be about it, what are you contensting! le'me break it down and exlain the analysis for you, think of it as a movie: Scene 1 For high performance engines, high content of octane is a must, mechanically speaking, each unit of octane powers the engine to do a given amount of work, the lower the octane content in gas, the lower the combustion pressure which in return affects the transfer of power to moving parts in the performance machine. the scene is set .. cars!, images of throtolling engines and told difference between good and bad, whereby LOW BAD, HIGH GOOD In car races, performance race cars are powered with the most efficient engines for speed, the load is kept at minimum, so they are built with the lightest materials, and every part that can effect the objective ( SPEED) is optimized for that purpose ONLY. In come the stars, sleek shiny and whizzing around the circuit. were told what they do, how exciting it is when they burn up the gas, how they are designed to burn gas. So at the end of the races, a race car is seen hauled on trucks to be transported to another place, ironically, this vehicle that can go that fast on race tracks becomes that useless outside of the race tracks. But, alas, there is a problem! why these nice shiny cars are of no use outide the race track.. while the inefficient trucks are great. but why we all gasp in shock and disbelief! HIGH octane BAD! LOW GOOD .. Scene 2 Similarly, Faith or iimaan is like energy, it can not be seen, but its effect can be evident in out lives, the higher the iimaan level, the better our performance as Muslims and as measurable actions, the lower the iimaan octane level, the poorer our Islamic identity and behaviour. The scene is set, we are introduced to the mysterius imaan, much like energy we're told, we can measure it like octaces and we burn it in the race track of our lives. again high good, low bad* *(The reader at this point is asked to ignore the obvious contridiction, were by in the last paragraph we were horrified to find out that highly efficient engines (persumably because they could generate more power/volume), and therefore with the highest octane levels! were crap out side the narrow racetrak) The iimaan octane can get to a critically low levels, and in these instances, the person acts almost contrary to Islam in every sense imaginable, without even realizing that he is low on iimaan octane. That person quits performing prayers, and observing the sharia, his words show contempt for Islam, or hates its restrictions, this person's engine needs overhaul, or may be it is beyound repair. LOW BAD, HIGH GOOD Scene 3 In an engineering school, some students have noticed that Muslim women on campus to be divided to three types. 1. Hijaab wearing Sisters 2. Jeans and Scarf wearing Transistors 3. Minimally dressed body showing Resistors Enter the electronic engineering class, sleek young filly's bent double over their oscilloscopes possitive charge in one hand, negative in the other, the experiment starts. In men a similar classification exists, but, men do not have to wear special dress to show their observation of the law, But in their actions, or the lack of, one can tell if they are forward biased toward Islam, conducting both ways, or outright resisting the guidance of siraatul Mustaqeem. men can also be tested, but NO this particular ossicliscope does not work on them Final scene This thread is dedicated to this Low octane Level phenomena, how to diagnose it and how to cure it. As we all know, every person's level of iiman is not constant over time, on the contrary iimaan goes up when we do good work and goes down when we commit a sin or neglect our duties. So if a person drives his car with low gas for a long time, the car will stop, and likewise if we neglect our duties to Allah for a long time, our iimaan will cease to exist. this film has shown you how to identify the mysterious low octane phonemena and obviously how to cure it... Again LOW GOOD, HIGH BAD my so deep, such wonderful insight into the psyche of the modern muslim woman, her roles, obligations and the difficulties she faces..... suddenly i feel enriched and enlightened .. why hadnt i thought of it before
  7. Baashi, again many apologies, and i will delete the post.. i did it to make a point, it made the point and it still stands. i read something like a 'transistor/.../' and its direcly insulting the women around me. The topic is not about islam, its woman bashing. full-stop. I can tell her imaan because i can see what she wears and doesnt.... when did we develop that ability! I know women who have fully inbraced islam and you cant pick out in the street and i've seen a number of nuur's definition of 'sistas' that .. frankly shame the word.. in reply to " Where is Caano Geel coming from?" u aint gonna tell me that you can read the inner heart of someones beliefs and convictions based on garments of materials and badge them as having/not having imaan. .. so why reduce the debate to the article of clothing they wear.
  8. peepz let me clear my throat .. just so we can understand each others points Nuur, kow aan kuu sheego meesha ey sheekada taagantahay ... markaad qortid topics like ' top up u're imaan' maxaad dadka kaayar masa kuu arka nin sharafleh u sheygsaa ... Marka, aniga aan kuu sheego waxaan aqriyey... ' THe value of a woman is her dress !' and as u so cleverly put it, 'is she a sister, transistor or a resistor'. Now a part of me wants to discuss how long it took to make it rhyme but i'll resist .. so 'brother' tell me the truth, is this what you believe? is this what u stand for and is this what you want to enlighten us with... Now about the sexism, ummm were shall i start, lets keep it brief: well, u posted this topic in reply to me calling you sexist, righteous and insincere in your dancing devils topic, which incidently i found so righteous that i was suprised it saw the light of day. Which i got to 'cos i couldnt believe the amount of chauvinism was being spouted because of a direct result of what you wrote. and hence we're back to this topic -- which the argument has festered in tho' its compeletely inconsequencial. So, surely u dont need me to explain the insincere part. now i can accept i'm wrong, but prove it to me... be 'a man' about it -as it'd be put - and i either say u believe: women can be firmly catergoried into the above stated three rhyming types or remove it and think about the influence and consequences of what you say before you let it loose in a public environment in which you carry such influence

By agreeing with the label, u're condoning it and what your telling me is that you are in a possition to judge the 'imaan' of another being! .. Now as was once said "Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself"

  13. Nuur saaxiib, let me get this right, coming from a 'traditional Somali family' what your telling me is: that my mother and wider Somali society has prepared me for nothing other than being the hollow shell of a chauvinist, as incapable of realising or expressing his feelings as a wild animal.. Infact short of picking the flees of the next two legged ape that i come across, i and my fellow shells are that mysteriously yet to be identified last step in the chain from great ape to man or as u put it "18 century badiye mentality". Now to address this problem and hopefully simultaneously help us up the evolutionary ladder, while liberating our poor women folk from the tyranny of our over developed domestic deprivation, you suggest that we be domesticated/distracted with the clever use of household chores. Now by conjecture what your telling me is that our poor women folk's role is defined by domestication and are living in the debauchery of our lack of it. Further this degeneracy has nothing to do with a lack of economic, political, educational, health, social or religious equality, just whether we wash the dishes, are buff enough to obviously adequately vacuum the caves we live in or can lay of the qaad and ciggies long enough to put in a half-days work... sounds plausible Now I'll tell you what, if you think it will help me and my fellow animals gain a deeper understanding of the situation, I'll be Nasra for you, and you just work on the definition of that 'sexist' bit ... looking forward to being a reformed ape, yours Nasra

Thats not fully true, from my experience, idians are overly interfering in the ' we know whats good fro u' type a way thats very indeering rather than victimising. they just like to be involved. try to think of one country with so much religious variety that has the harmony o inida and i bet you wont find any! Having spoken to the indian friends the apeal of the BJP is wailing and collision are very much limited, and not based on religion but politics disguised in religion. I mean look at the head of nuclear development in india, its a muslim guy! I know a very intelligent BJP supporters and after many an argument, fraid i cant really say thats its got any thing to do with a 'hindustan' agenda. . at least with him anyway p.s. sheh, i just noticed, how the hell were u up at 6am?
  16. lol, aah india ... sheh, last i was in india the closest i got to romance was a rickshaw driver whose hand somehow mysteriously seemed to end up trying itch its way up my leg!... considering how tactile the indians i met on the trains were, the first time i forgave it and assumed mistake, 'he must of been trying to pick up something from beside me', second time i warned him stop, third you jumped out of the moving vehicle into the road threatening to bunch the light outs of him ... those were the days .. About the indian unity thing tho', i gotto agree with the 'ex-borg that sold her share of a soul to apple' on this, i dont think i've met a bunch of people that are so at ease about other peoples faiths, its all good as far their conserned it seems, but you gooto justify it.. as proved by many-a- random converstation that starts with, your name, what you do, and if your married. the police rather than the soldiers were *** 's for me to'. ps. were else have you been, do live there? i highly recond the north if u've not been, shimla and manali are very beautifull, i stayed in a little village near manali called vashisht spectacular view of the most stunning mountains i've ever seen, and the tastiest pancakes. also the deep south is very very nice, kerela is possibly the greenest place on the planet .. anyhow fill us in on your adventures and enjoy
  17. Nuur man, saaxiib what up? for lack of a better term, your fast becoming our very own home grown bible basher... half the stuff u post i'm finding sexist, the other righteous, none of it sincere. whats the aim? if your trying to get a meaning message across, i've missed it. If your trying to do what i think you are, there are better ways ... anyhow ready for the flaming

  22. ok, i'll admit it just this once, yep, i'm one of u loser geeks Originally posted by Geel_jire: JB, i think it's possible, to make a somali-based programming language. not a stand alone independent compiler, but kind of biulding on top of the C language, if anyone is profficient in C,C++ plz add something. ... #define qor(%) printf(%) #define geli(%,&%) scanf(%,&%) dude, its possible, u need to translate all the library functions to make it complete, you can find all the function name here... http://www.cplusplus.com/ref/. This would amount to writing a scripting language that compiles to c/c++. however, since virtually all high-level languages are in english, along with their help forums/documents,surely teaching english is more profitable to learners
