  1. Mugabi is simply an *****! Munira said what he stands for...starve his own people. Omer, think beyond the fish & chips warriorism lifestyle! A rather unBritish achievement.
  2. Talking about good movies, not indian, reminds me those two: 1.One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest 2.The Usual Suspects Best movies ever to watch! I am still trying to find the Chinatown dvd. PS. JB, sorry that I am not an indian movies'fan.
  3. Lily, What I am trying to get across is the way non-Muslims react to the word Insha Allah. Because when you're not a person who takes seriously on his/her promises and you always use such a word, people will believe that using such word is the same as saying 'may be' when it is not. I have seen non-Muslims in the Muslim countries who will doubt your sincerity for keeping on your promises when you use the word Insha Allah. How many times have you said Insha Allah but you failed to keep on your promises to show up on time with no good reasoning or poor planning?
  4. Many Muslims have a habit of saying Insha Allah and don't take seriously for what they promised to do. It looks that as Muslims, we try to remember saying that magic word but forget to either show up on time or finish what we promised to do exactly when we said to finish it. Nowadays, when you say Insha Allah to non-Muslims, they don’t take you seriously because we do not take seriously on promises. Are we a bunch of liars then?
  5. whats sad about it? In Dubai, there are thens of thousands of non-Muslims and they will appreciate if their favorite restaurant opens there. And those Muslims who used to frequent it while in the West will probably go there to eat. So keep your value on to yourselves people. Don't let yourself in between God and others. Anyway, I do not like to go to Hooters! I like the Shiisha.
  6. Ethiopian Airlines will lose a lot of money in this situation that they created. It is not important who decided first to stop EA from flying to Somaliland but the important thing is that Somaliland officially released that memo to stop EA from flying to Somaliland. That shows Somaliland government does not shy away to confront its friends, including Ethiopia, at anything that disregards the rules of the land and its national interests. I myself(plus 40-50 other Somalis)once flew Ethiopian Airlines from Washington to Hargeisa and I regret that now. From now on I will continue to fly with Daalo Airlines until the Ethio Airlines apologises and grantees that this sort of thing will never happen again! Lets fly Daalo Airlines now!
  7. The BBC/Somali service's expansion is not unique. Most of the other foriegn language services have expanded too. And it could have happened under anyone else's leadership. Just lets talk about the quality of the Somali service which under his leadership has slipped to a regretable position that even some Somalia and Somaliland based radios are becoming more popular than the BBC. Losing popular journalists such as Hereri is a sign of the slow death of the Somali service. All of those expansions are not worth the money when its quality is continuing to sink.
  8. subject: Good lucky Dear Respected Reporter In side of ethiopia Reagan is the best, You can interview him, according to our discussion on behalf of the Organization of ONLF, Reagan is now currently On that Issue, beside that he is chenious than all of the others including me. Therefore, Meeting with Reagan means Meeting of me or the Deputy However, start with reagan. I hope for both you good lucky. We Understand that you can report it while you are in ethiopia, but when you are abroad of ethiopia please do not ignore to report. Thanks Admiral Osman ^lool. This was hilarious! ONLF was Exposed big time!
  9. Somaliland is marching forward with the rest of the free world! dramdramdararara. Now, who wants to be freed from itself?
  10. ^yes it makes a difference. We are here talking about the world news professionalism. You can't be taken seriously with such names as fallenmoon and tomatocrusher or Jugsoodhacay and sit in major news broadcasting rooms such as the BBC. Only this happens in the low-grade newsrooms such as the Somali service.
  11. I thought Maryan quit singing during the Somali-Taliban takeover of Mogadisho. Isn't that right?
  12. Yussuf Garaad is not fit to do interviews cuz he is not good at it. Look what Abdilaahi Haji or Hereri can do to appreciate the comparison. Garaad may be is fit to producing but not broadcasting.
  13. JB, thanks brother! What is the secrecy, share with us some of the other good pictures- just cutoff the faces. lool.
  14. Thanks a million Grant! Those pictures are beautiful. I hope these are recent pictures, may be taken for the last few years. I was trying to compare the condition that Shiek was in the 80s. Baashe, what is the fuss! Are you a part-owner of SOL and trying to dictate and censor others. We all here to exchange ideas with the rest SOL members. As new comers do you think that we care about who came here first or isn't? All we care about is the free flow of info and ideas without censorship?, as long as we do not break any of the rules!
  15. Language and accent are important components of news broadcasting. You want newscasters like the old generation BBC/Somali broadcasters who can speak accent that most Somalis can understand easily. It is not only the language that most current BBC newscasters failed to master but they are lacking professionalism too. It clearly shows how the BBC/Somali service broadcasters are lacking professionalism when you hear such their names as the ones MMA mentioned which I do like to repeat again. No wonder they losing their listeners.
  16. Red, what is wrong with Qaran is this guy called Dr. Gaboose. First, he is not fulfuling the Somaliland constitution cuz his great, great grandfather was born outside Somaliland. See, our constitution does not require that much from us other than either you, your father, grandfather, or great grandfather to be born in the country. Unlike the US constitution that requires anyone who wants to run for president to be born in the US. Second, the reason I support UDUB is simply the party is the one that I am a member of. See, the party of Cigaal has better representation among Somalilanders. It is easier in UDUB to become a candidate for presidential elections unlike the other two. Once Riyaale's term ends in 2013 Insha allah, we will be able to elect someone from the party who is capable to run for President while Silaanyo and Waraabe are still trying to hold on to their positions in their parties. Therefore, UDUB party belongs to all of us, so it is not too late for you, Mr. RED, to join UDUB and run in their ticket for the 2013 elections.
  17. When I was student, I always tought that women professors feel good for torturing their students. Also, new professors either men or women do the ssme thing, usually. Take classes with older professors, especially men. One professor in my freshman was nicknamed 'Schiller the killer' and she taught the human anotomy. Damn with her! The day of exam she used to bring cookies and offer them to each student but majority of students will say 'no thank you.'
  18. Nubia & Sheh, I think I got the Joke! Xanthus, lol@hairypeople. I think there is a city called xanthus in Turkey. May be yours have a different meaning? Or may be the word is derived from xantho meaning yellow. So you still revolving around the middle east if not Turkey! Oh well, it is FRIDAY! Hope u guys enjoy it.
  19. I heard Yussuf Garaad likes more cousins of his to work at the BBC. There are always many complaints of unfairness and bias in the bbc/somali news. Do you agree with that or it is just baseless accusations?
  20. What a loss to the BBC/Somali Service. Tan oo kale waxay ku tusaysaa sidda laanta afsoomaligu ay sii luminayso dhagaystayaal fara baddan oo Soomaali ah. Annigu laftaydu muddo laga joogo shan sanno amaba ka baddan ayaan dhageysigeeda faraha ka qaaday. Laanta macnodarnaanta iga dheh! Abdisalaan Hereri, You deserve better and I will follow you to the VOA. I always liked to listen your programs and I wish you a good luck! London (QARAN)- Weriye Cabdisalaan Ibraahim Hereri oo ka mid ah weriyaasha ugu caansan ee Laanta Afka Soomaaliga ee Idaacadda BBC-da, ayaa caddeeyey in uu iska casilay shaqadii uu ka hayey BBC-da, iyadoo la filayo inuu u wareego idaacadda Maraykanka ee Voice of America oo dhawrkii bilood ee u dambeeyay ku soo biirtay idaacadaha caalamiga ah ee ku hadla Af-soomaaliga. Haddaba, si aannu arrintaa wax uga ogaano ayaa wargeyska Jamhuuriya wax ka weydiiyay weriye Cabdisalaan Hereri, Cabdisalaana waxa uu noo xaqiijiyey in uu iska casilay shaqadii uu ka hayay laanta afka Soomaaliga ee idaacadda BBC-da. CabdiSalaam Hereri oo ka jawaabayay sababta uu xilligan shaqada uga tagayo, waxa uu yidhi; “Waxa aan ka shaqaynayay muddo ku siman 17 sano waxaanan arkay wakhtigan inay ku habboontahay inaan isbeddel ku sameeyo shaqada.” Weriye Cabdisalaan Ibraahim Hereri oo BBC-da ka shaqaynayay muddo dheer, ayaa badiba dadka luqadda Soomaaliga ku hadla ee dhagaysta codkiisu u arkaan suxufi isku miisaaman, gaar ahaanna qaabka uu wax u gudbiyoiyo habka uu waraysiyada uu qaado oo dadku aad ula dhacaan siiba marka uu warysanayo masuulyiinta Soomaalida, taasi oo lagu tilmaamo inuu yahay weriye aqoontiisa saxaafadeed isku dheeri tiran tahay. Si kastaba ha ahaatee, Cabdisalaan Ibraahim Hereri oo ka mid ah soo saarayaasha barnaamijyada ee idaacadda waxa uu xubin muhiim iyo halbawle ah u ahaa laanta afka Soomaaliga ee BBC-da, iyada ay oo si weyn u tabi doonaan dhagaystayaasha tirada badan ee ku xidhan BBC-du. Muddo aan sidaa u fogayn waxa ka tagay BBC-da wariyaha Al-jazeera uga soo warrama Geeska Afrika ee Maxamed Caddow oo isna ka mid ahaa wariyaasha ugu cadcaddaa BBC-da laanteeda Afka Soomaaliga iyo Cabdiraxmaan Yabarow oo Washington uga soo warrami jiray. Sidoo kale waxa muddo iminka dhawr sanno laga joogo laga dhimay shaqada weriyaal badan oo muddo dheer ku soo shaqaynayay Idaacadda BBC-da. Haddaba, Laanta Afka Soomaaliga ee BBC-da ayaa hadda u muuqata meel ay ka sii gurmayaan wariyayaasha aqoonta u lahaa mihnadda saxaafadda, taas oo saamayn ku yeelan doonta tayada barnaamijyada ay baahiso idaacaddu. 21. Vacations: Its on the wall and everybody signs it once every year, so they cannot change it. Promotions: Yes, your supervisor have a say but since everybody knows what everyone in the lab is known for: hardworking, shows on time, zero errors, contributes and shows on siminars, have done his/her continuing education etc. they cannot actually do a lot of harm. Assignments: Nobody assings you to do anything other than put your name this week on different sections of the lab,for example, in the hematology or in bacteriology but that is done aheard of time, every six months. So there are no surprises usually. Inorder your boss to make your job misserable the lab director have to agree with them, then they can do some unfavorable things to you,for example, give you a 1-2% annual salary increase instead of 3-6%. But once they do that they know they going to lose you. There is a nationwide shortage of lab professionals and if they hire one it usually means training them on new analyzers which takes about six months before they make them lose in the lab to work independently. And that costs a lot of money!
  22. I am glad my job which I love it and enjoy doing it allows no bullshit from any director or supervisor. We all share the responsibility by becoming the LEAD TECHNOLOGIST(resolve any disbutes between the lab and doctors/nurses and check attendences and sick calls) once every week. Even the supervisors and section leads will come under you that day! Everything that you do must agree with the PROCEDURE book that is updated and contributed by most of us which the medical director who is a pathologist approves it. Even the lab director cannot tell you otherwise. Any disagreement which happens sometimes is resolved by conducting the PROCEDURE book or the 'bible' as some call it or any other stablished reference books. You're your own boss and do diagnostic tests independently with no interference. I recommend anyone who loves science and the medical field but do not want to be a doctor/nurse(never liked) to consider becoming a Clinical Laboratory Scientist sometimes called Medical Technologist. It will reward you with a good pay plus a lot of sattisfaction! I grantee it.

  24. My Good Jb, in Siilanyo's case,How come on earth you take part of a raging civil/clans war when you was the sole commander-in-chief and next day ask people for their Votes, it desont add up adeer, no one saw siilaanyo oo leh war tolow colka jooja, but he was amplifiying it ,ask west of Burco, and he didnt apologise in his involvment Sharmarkee, I think you're wrong to accuse Silaanyo of taking part of the civil war either verbally or in action. What people accuse of him is that he failed to do what was expected of him to do: to come down to Burco and take part in negotiations to stop the war.
