    2gearsopt.gif You know what really grinds my gears? People that litter, I mean I already had a short fuss for that mess, but Yesterday during my lunch break really confirmed for me how much it annoys me. I was driving behind what seemed to be two sane individuals when all of a sudden in the middle of this street they damn near dumped out everything in their car all willy nilly like my sexy self was not behind them watching... :mad: I was mortified, and since I was in a furious rage I pulled up and said every curse word possible in three languages. Then the reality of living in a redneck town hit me and I sped off, before they exercised their rights to bare arms. Why are people so lazy uff!!! What grinds your gears solers?

    I don’t believe in entertainer ever being “role models” that is what our parents/relatives and communities are for, they can be great references but that is about all. As for the girls verses k‘naan, that is arguable :D

    Waan kuu fahmay, they are all in the same boat when it comes to haram or what NOT Lakini in the same token I think Somaliahan there are some unwritten rules that need to be held. Sugar rush contributes nothing whatsoever of substance. I also sensed that mar-mar weyba kaa fanan Somali niimodha. Gabdahan might not be the poster children for dinta, but they do set a great example of what dalin yarta are capable of accomplishing in the western world without detaching themselves from somalia.

     

    Further more wareerka waxa keynayo the constant badgering... I get it these people don’t fit in what we consider the “norm” I just can’t make sense on why folks like xassan adan samatar, hibo nura, tubeec and the rest of them are not ridiculed just as much… I mean what they are doing is haram too eh? double standards?? :rolleyes:

    By far the only Somalis in the public eye that have intrigued me, (aside from k'naan) without disgusting me like the two girls from toronto ladaho "sugar rush." They've appeared on

    And why is it that every time our people try to better themselves with what they have been given, a harsh comment from the “qaxooti peanut gallery” is thrown? There is ridicule and then there is “Somali ridicule” :mad:

    Summertime means?? really good books to submerge myself in… and oddly every single book I have enjoyed was suggested to me at one point or another by someone.

    *Ahem* As a newbie, these are my observations of SOL thus far, and if I were ever given a survey waxaan baa iska qori lahaa whilst drooling…

     

     

    Horta ya’ll are merciless to umada cusub. (I take it as a form of initiation)

    Ubadana regardless of the topic, more than likely folks will go off on a tangent, and it eventually morphs into a qaxooti tirade.

    Some folks clearly don’t understand kaftan

    Most topics are of no substance. i.e. LOL

    The different variations of Somalis on here revives my patriotic side :D

     

    -Side note for the newbies that wanna build up their af Somali diction like moi, don’t start a topic stating that, get in there like swimwear ;)

     

    Another thing since I’m too lazy to start another topic, I need suggestions for really good riwaayado from back in the days… ex “cilmi iyo caado” iyo “rafaad iyo raaxo” I live in a tuulo, but once in a while I head to Somali cities to get a dose… so what would you suggest? I ain’t into all that new stuff so kaa bood :D

    Walaley, I couldn’t have agreed with the panel of women displayed here, they ranged from all walks of life… I also sensed that the host was trying to create a little bit of tension between them, “hijabi cat fight” LOL if this doesn’t confirm that Islam women are more than liberated I don’t know what does. Furthermore to answer your question, NO I don’t look down on sisters that don’t wear the hijab, I think one of the ladies in the panel covered this when that question was raised. Honestly I think wearing the hijab doesn’t give anyone superiority… you don’t know what peoples real intentions/behaviors are so for me to judge them I would have to take all those factors into account. There are some sisters that faithfully wear the hijab but don’t necessarily uphold the basic principles of diinta. I also think so much focus is placed on the girls that don’t wear it that the ones who do can practically get away with murder. At the end of the day like they say it “only god can judge you” ;)

     

     

    And as for the ladies going to the mosque uncovered, I just think that is tacky! You have the right to do as you please out in the world, but once you step into a holy place it is common sense you at least wear a hijab for the sake of Allah (s.w.t)
