Doesn't matter if they are native Puntlanders, they will be crushed. No mercy, unlike certain segments of southerners that harbor their terrorists. Congratulations to Galmudug as well though for flushing them out.

Reer Mogadishu should take notes. You don't need thousands of AMISOM troops to defeat Al shabab. Reality is if Al shabab doesn't have local support, it won't survive. GAROWE, Somalia-Puntland troops have clashed with Al Shabaab fighters in deadly battle in the village of Suuj as forces are closing in on militant positions in Nugal region village of Godobjiran, Garowe Online reports. On Wednesday morning, Puntland Defence Forces (PDFs) in armored vehicles raided militants regrouping in hideouts near Garmaal coastal village, 80km off former pirate hub, Eyl according to sources within the army. Puntland government officials have told that eleven Al Shabaab fighters were killed in the ongoing clean-up operations in areas along the Indian Ocean. Speaking at a press conference in the State capital of Garowe, Information Minister Mohamud Hassan Soadde has indicated that they have gained upper hand in the ongoing fighting. Puntland mobilized army units toward Nugal and Mudug coastal villages following Al Shabaab’s seizure of Garacad and Garmaal. Meanwhile, Puntland Information Minister, pledged a safe passage for militants, saying they should hand themselves in. Continuing, he predicted that the anti-Al Shabaab operations could be concluded in 72 hours. On Tuesday, senior Al Shabaab official identified as Saacid Karate delivered sermons in Garmaal, and pleaded with villagers—mainly fishermen—to cooperate in peaceful reciprocity. Two Al Shabaab batches have so far reached Puntland, with another band advancing on Godobjiran where government troops are now stationed for potential Al Shabaab attack. Puntland leveled a scathing criticism of UN-backed National Government for alleged role in Al Shabaab thrust, allegations denied by Interior Minister Abdirahman Odawa on VOA Somali Service.

@Tallaabo said: Alshabaab or Daesh can land in these remote hideout places and no body would know anything about it. It is pretty worrying. Maybe with local support like Galgala. It is difficult to survive in those mountains without food though, unless you will capture fish in the sea by day and hide in the mountains by night.

@Tallaabo said: Is Geelwayn another village in the area? Geel Wayta is the coastal border area between the Big Beard community and Badhan community. It is on the border between Ceerigaabo district and Las Qoray district.

This is a worrying development indeed. Puntland is a buffer zone for Somaliland, it effects Somaliland in the long-term as well if Al shabab spreads to the coasts of Puntland. I don't think Al shabab will try to do the same in Sland controlled coast though since they won't be facing civilians but heavily armed troops stationed in the eastern navy base in Maydh. Another difference is Puntland also has a very long coast with both the gulf of Aden and the Indian ocean, that means more opportunities for Al shabab to sneak in.

I wouldn't really classify being put in jail as "tartan", he had no chance to being with. I think it is time for him to go to the nursing home and retire there with dignity since his over 80. “Ina Cigaal Wuu Iga Badiyey Tartankii Siyaasadeed Ee Aan La Galay” Saleebaan Gaal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g9lkU_KJxo http://www.cadceed.com/2016/03/daawo-ina-cigaal-wuu-iga-badiyey-tartankii-siyaasadeed-ee-aan-la-galay-saleebaan-gaal.html

Nope. It was recorded by a reer Ceerigaabo guy. Waqdariya / Waqadariya(as it is spelled in google) is located in 80 km east of Maydh. Maydh mayor in the area

Berbera without investments from foreign countries in the past would have been nothing without it. It doesn't possess any large population at all. Ceerigaabo district which the coast is also a extension of it has nearly double the population of Sahil region and it also has bigger population than the entire Gabiley region. So lets put the myth that Maydh doesn't have population to rest, since the same community that dominates Ceerigaabo also lives in the coast they won't be short of any "human resources". UNDP 2005 Ceerigaabo district = 114,845 Berbera district aka Sahil =60,753

@Che -Guevara said: Sanaag needs roads and perhaps an airport. In terms of commercial ports, Berbera and Bosaso should suffice. Maydh can perhaps be developed fishing port. What Sanaag needs is a port and airports that can generate revenue, that way in the future it can fund its own road projects.
-
Miyir Let me correct you. 1. The road linking Ceerigaabo and Maydh is already being built. 2. Maydh port is very close to Ceerigaabo district which has over 110,000 population that is more than the entire Sahil region, when you include the rest of Sanaag and Sool it is around over 500,000 people. The distance between Maydh and Ceerigaabo is a mere 60 km. 3. The area will attract many business people once the port is built and Maydh itself will become as large as Ceerigaabo. Those are the facts. The port won't lack population to serve or infrastructure once it is running.
-
This is where the coastal road is planned to connect the town of Maydh and Waqdariya. The unspoiled beaches and remote environment of Waqdariya are pleasant to the eye and great for dalxis.
-
Berbera is too far and there is no direct paved roads between the harsh mountainous terrain of Sanaag and Berbera known as the "Guban". This port will serve Sanaag and Sool regions.
-
The technical feasibility study of Maydh port has been completed by a French private company that Somaliland Development Fund SDF has contracted.

Where did I insult anyone, I don't own Somaliland wikileaks, I am just a messenger. Frankly I think Somaliland politicians as much as I despise their corruption should avoid things that can damage their image and carry themselves with respect.

@Haatu said: It seems you guys are Somalis after all. The curse of qabyaalad runs deep. Are these guys Alpha's family? Yes and Xaaji Xunjuuf.

Where did I said I support him. He might be a nuisance to Silanyo but I don't support what he did in Hadayta, Awdal couple of weeks ago. I agree it is important we respect the police institutions, but it is difficult to do that in Sland nowadays when they are getting more corrupt and are clearly trying to aid their communities such as what happened in Sahil ( Ceel Garde port fiasco), impartiality is going out of the window. My stance is the police and army should be as fair as possible to the different communities of Sland otherwise people will lose confidence in it like in south Somalia such as clan based SFG troops wearing "shaadh dawladeed" attacking Marka civilians.

@Che -Guevara said: Ninyahow, Riyale was referee for habra. Somaliland needs someone who is not from reer Issak hehe. That seems the case.

Che-Guevara Very true. Interestingly though this wasn't the case during Riyaale's reign, we had a very nationalist fever under his reign.

Nice, Which city is this, Garowe?

@Holac said: lol Not surprised. There are not many viable income sources anymore. It is their own fault.
