I really admire your optimism and I really believe there has been a miscommunication between what I am advocating for and how you have understood the thread. I am merely suggesting that the encroachment of a few tribalistic warlords on the sovereignty of a democratic nation will not achieve its intended objectives. This will not only increase tension between Somaliland and its neighbours but will also worsen the quagmire people in these regions find themselves. Sool and Sanaag are part of Somalilands territorial jurisdiction and it’s for this reason that the Somaliland government will do its utmost to ensure the status quo. The people of Sool and Sanaag have chosen their destiny and their self-determinations needs to be respected. You of all people should be able to comprehend such a decision.

Malika, Somali politics is not as simplistic as you would like it to be. the constant calls for simplifying Somali politics has induced a wide range of problems. We are a diverse nation and as such there needs to be careful considerations made when talking about Somali politics.

There have been all sorts of allegations spewed from the regulars. While i respect these views, this is a pressing issue that needs to be dealt with. I believe in a greater Somalia but i am concerned that the secession of yet another part of Somaliland will cause endemic problems. I am not suggesting nor calling for genocide against those who inhibit sool and sanaag but Sool and Saanag is part of Somaliland and will continue to be part of Somaliland. Instead i am calling for more investment in the region so that more Somalilander will be attracted by the lure of opportunities. While i regret the current administration policy towards these regions, i support their attempts to restore peace and stability to Sanaag and in particular Sool. P.S. No personal attacks please. This is unnecessary, unwarranted and unacceptable. Express your opinions in more dignified manner. Dont resort to childish antics.

Sool and Sanaag are part of Somaliland and the defined map of Somaliland is testament to this fact, yet in recent years these parts of Somaliland have had a tendency to lean towards the corrupt dictatorship of Puntland. These regions are integral to the existence of Somaliland and we should do our utmost to save guard their existence as part of Somaliland. There is even talk of these villages choosing Puntland over our government. So what are we to do in this debacle? There needs to be a demographic transition. We need to take people from the heavily populated parts of Somaliland, i.e. Hargesia and Burco and other urban centres and relocate them to these disputed territories. We need to put in place a policy of displacement and make sure that somalilanders constitute the majority of the populations in these regions. That way there will be no calls for these regions to secede into their own federated governments. We must not compromise the territorial integrity of Somaliland.
