Did anyone hear the BBC Somali World Service today? They were interviewing Somali Students at Ottawa and Carlton Universities. I am sure some of you know these students who were interviewed! They were very good and provided a fascinating insight into the education of Somalis in Canada. My only slight reservation was that many of these students did not speak Af-Somali! All the students were very ambitious and wanted to go into further education, whether doing a Masters Degree or a PhD. All the students expressed an interest in going back to Somalia to help build the nation. Mashallah to all the Canadians! May Allah make it easier for all of you to do well in your chosen paths! P.S apparently there are 200,000 Somalis in Canada! Thats fascinating!

Abu GJ, obviously its not good to stereotype people but i think we can agree that certain black people are lazier than others. I am not a racist but black people including somali people are forever complaining of not getting enough. well the poles dont complain, having said that i think we understand the reason behind black people laziness! as for somali people, they come from a broken and nomadic society. coming to a post-industrial society its not gonna be easy to integrate. the poles come from a functioning society with the rule of law. i can understand old somali immigrants having problems finding jobs but we have been in the west for over 20 years now and there are no excuses for young people not finding jobs.

isseh, Maakhir State is part of Somaliland and will remain so in years to come. I understand the reason behind your separatist activities are largely due to the Somaliland govt inadequacies and your own disillusionment behind years of neglect, dualism and improvishment of Maakharian but you need to realise that despite your separatists activities, Maakhir state will never be truly independent.

Isn’t Maakhir part of Somaliland? Maakhir separatists need to be stopped in their tracks of seceding. I have a superb plan to stop Sool and Sanag seceding from somaliland. But will reveal in due time.
