  1. ^^ Sorry sis, I thought you were alrady done for today. If you're going to hargeisa, the odds are you'll survive inshaallah, so don't worry. To burco... I'd make sure I've paid all my debts and redeemed my sins before I leave Oh, and about the malaria profylax... since you'll leaving tomorrow already ask for anything but Lariam!
  2. I don't think we should take that kind of treatment from any company. The only power we have as customers is to boycott, otherwise nothing will change. By the way, what was the problem in djibouti Northerner?
  3. Daallo from Dubai to Djibouti bad Daallo from Djibouti to Hargeisa horrible Daallo from Djibouti to Burco nightmare Well actually once from Dubai to Djibouti we had to make an emergency landing in Sharijah, and then they shuffled us back into the same plane... walaahi didn't think I was gonna survive.
  4. Northerner, I've experienced traumatic things flying with Daallo, and their service is non-existent. I'm urging everyone to boycott Daallo!

She could've compared them to the dozens of secessionist movements across the globe (Kashmir, Taiwan, the Basque in Spain, etc). They are all similar to some extent. Good point Cara!

  9. The true legacy of Dahir Riyale is a man who has committed human rights abuses by detaining citizens with illegal emergency laws and holding them indefinitely in prisons without pressing any charges or detaining them without any due process. He has on many occasions suppressed freedom of speech, assembly, and peaceful demonstrations. He has destroyed the economy by widespread corruption of the public funds without transparency and accountability. He has ruled the country by nepotism, and appointing individuals who are loyal to the regime while expelling government officials that are critical. And all of this president Riyale has accomplished within just four years. Imagine what great things he can do if he's appointed for another five-year term.
  10. Originally posted by Sayid Riyale is the one who brought democracy to Somaliland. I find the above statement astonishing... Sayid, how did Riyale bring democracy to S/Land?? I'm starting to see Mugabe-tendencies in Riyale, sadly african leaders seem to have a common predisposition for autocratic behavior once they get the taste of power. Perhaps in a young democracy, it's healthy to restrict the term of office to only one mandate. I'm afraid we won't see a democratic election, everyone is ready for a fight to win... by any means. I hope inshaallah, I'm wrong!
  11. TheSomaliEconomist, av nån okänd anledning har jag dålig uppfattning av frälsningsarmen... men för den skull kallar jag inte deras tro skit.
  12. Paragon, I've enrolled to a 12 step program to treat my complaint, the first step being to admit... still haven't elevated from 1st step May your admittance lead to a productive life . ...thanks
  13. Paragon, I'm not in denial anymore, I admit I'm a workaholic. My days are only filled with microscopic organisms... Mr Economist, frälsningsarmen, really... jag kanske har fördomar

What I do now has a bearing on my circumstances today, tommorow and the future thereafter. Waa wareey, why have no one told me this before! That explains why my home is so messy and my relationships so tattered. Thanks for enlightening me peacenow!
  15. Paragon, you're indeed a man of action... good work brother! How's it going with the demo, if I may ask.
  16. Almost every fifth person on this planet is a muslim, and the countries populated by muslims are many. The countries Munira listed have not just muslim population as a common denominator. I'm sure if you'd remove islam from these societies you'd still have problem.

Anyway... Khayr... brother, seriously, are you arguing that our attempts to find cures for diseases is a good example of modern science domination? Khayr, we are talking about sick people, and you are talking about creating perfect people. Well dear, you're on the other extreme side of this scale. This method is to be used for making sick people, at the best, free of their disease not give them extraordinary skills a la superman. If this method is wrongfully used by others to create "perfect people" (which is btw a really bad example to make your point) you could always legislate about its usage. Of course there should be an ethical debate about the implementations of science, and there is a lively debate. Every knowledge can and will be misused, the question is how do we prevent that. Originally posted by Khayr Long life and easier life is not the reason for creation of MAN, Oh but that is preaching religion. I'm okay with you preaching religion, but wondering what religion you're preaching? Where do you suggest to draw the line for which treatments/interference medicine would be allowed?
  18. lol Kabtain Kaluun - perhaps a somali version of Popeye the sailor man... Came to remember when I patted a shark in a pool. My friend said I was crazy, and to show her that it was safe, I tried to pat another one on the backside... well, dumb as I was I thought sharks were kind of stiff... I was wrong and the beast made a u-turn with its body and tried to bite me. With my palm open I reflexively pulled up my hand... my friend was unfortunately standing in the way and got a cold shower... Shark is fish, so it's halaal, dunno about whale though... not that their fish, but if it's halaal to eat? Some muslims don't eat for instance crab, shrimps and other types of seafood.

His points were easy yet the man who was debating him could not handle it. Check Prof. Samatar’s discussion with Siilanyo. Where can I find this debate Xiin?

    aSmallWorld

Will the next generation of SOL be a light version of aSmallWorld Harvey Weinstein aims big in aSmallWorld By Bob Tourtellotte CANNES, France (Reuters) - If anyone is big in the small world of independent film it is Harvey Weinstein, and the Oscar winner behind movies like "Chicago" is aiming high online by acquiring a stake in exclusive Web community, aSmallWorld. His Weinstein Co. is the lead investor in a group that bought a large share of the Web site catering to upscale clients, and late on Monday aboard a private yacht at the Cannes film festival, Weinstein told Reuters the deal is a part of his plan to build a multi-media empire. He likened aSmallWorld, which boasts a relatively few 130,000 members, to a sort of MySpace.com for the Internet jet set, and a community that adults can join to bypass youthful chatter on the Web. "Our goal is to be a major content producer, and content comes in all forms whether that is movies, TV or online," Weinstein said. "Adults are underserved on the Internet, and that is our bet, that they go from MySpace to aSmallWorld." Weinstein appears to be taking the same tack he did with his former company Miramax Films, which he ran with his brother Bob Weinstein and sold to The Walt Disney Co. in the early 1990s. He and his brother left Disney last September after a falling-out with former Disney chief Michael Eisner. Over its history, Miramax built a business by acquiring U.S. distribution rights to foreign language films and art house films that aspired to win awards. Movies like "The English Patient" and "Shakespeare in Love" won Oscars for Miramax and earned Weinstein a spot on the top rungs of Hollywood’s business ladder. SMALL WORLD, BIG TIME aSmallWorld was founded two years ago by Erik Wachtmeister as a way for upscale men and women to match minds and as a place where marketers of luxury goods and services could advertise to their target customers. Weinstein also hopes to use aSmallWorld to help build buzz for movies, DVDs, and other content his company will produce. While it is hard to imagine a film like their recent "Scary Movie 4," finding an audience on aSmallWorld, Oscar hopefuls, foreign-language and art-house films will likely find fans. The wily executive refused to disclose the size of his investment or the percentage of aSmallWorld his investor group now owns. Wachtmeister told Reuters the new cash will allow aSmallWorld to hire more staff, speed up development and better cater to its clients. He was short on specifics. However, he did say the site does not plan to use the funds to market itself widely, preferring instead to remain exclusive. Around the yacht on Monday, it was easy to spot the target clientele. There were European and U.S. business executives, as well as fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, Asian actress Bai Ling and movie director Kevin Smith. Weinstein said the goal was to boost membership to a broad range between one and two million members. That compares to some 70 million users now on MySpace.com. Wachtmeister later said that number could grow to as high as three million members, but added that figures were far less important now than the types of people who join. One member of the Weinstein investment group is former AOL chief Bob Pittman. Billionaire Paul Allen also is said to be a member of aSmallWorld, but to truly find out one must join. The cost? Don’t ask. To join, one must be invited, and if no invitation comes, "you simply need to be patient," according to the Web site (www.asmallworld.net). It sounds like Hollywood.

    Why Women??

Munira, I think Naden's suggestion "LIFESTYLE" is a very good suggestion. Jacaylbaro, I'm not against or moralising the discussions that take place in the women section.
  22. Alleh Abdullahi Yusuf iyo dadkiisa waa dhiigyacab, and now his appetite for somali blood has been whetted. May Allah save us from this man. I heard on the news last night that an unidentified aeroplan with its lights off was observed in many regions of Somalilands air territory. This gave me the chills... Who was it, Ethios, US? preparing for something??
  23. Perhaps some of the details the author is over-exaggerating, but nevertheless I think the main point is true and some of the issues are indeed problems that needs to be addressed rather sooner than later. I think for the country to have a more distributed development, many sections within the government needs to be decentralized. The needs and the conditions vary depending on the different regions, and I don't think a poor, weak centralized government have any chance of tackling these problems.
