^^ I was not "fishing" for anything. Honest! But the whisperers believe there is some coat-turning afoot. I had to bring it into the open dee. Plus, all those stars do look a tad suspecious. Ayoub, the "a" at the end was an extra typo and you know it, xaasid-afarta-xidig-leh yaho.

In Somalia society and many others around the world reputation is an important part of life. Alas, with Somalis, to have a reputation would invariably mean that you are someone who has been up to no good. A good man/woman, who hardly harms anyone, pays his dues and benefits his whole society would usually be referred to as “maskiin”! On the other hand, a troublemaker, a loud and brash person or one that always crosses the lines of decency and good behaviour is positively referred to as a “fariid”, “xariif” or “ahahaha..waa nin waalan” but would never suffer from his bad reputation (in the eyes of society). It of course can be argued that in such cases the good traits of the individual outweigh his bad ones. For example, in SOL, our esteemed brother Xiin disapproves of the very popular (and populist) A&T’s “bedroom stories”. It is obvious that he holds that nomad in high regard and feels let down by stories that, in the normal course of things, he would never read and would consider their writer as someone with very low morals. Yet, he does not. He actually views the man as an equal and their mutual respect is clear to all. But how can respect and disapproval sit happily side by side in such a way? Of course, it would not be fair if I did not mention A&T’s side of the coin and how he views Xiin as a pious and conscientious brother who, though quite articulate, is a bit wet behind the ears when it comes to Somali politics or poetry. Yet, none of this seems to tarnish the amount of respect he has for the man. Another is our Qardho fanatic. Many people would love to break into his home (or office) and remove the letter Q from his keyboard (not to mention disabling his google searching abilities) but, at the same time, most also admire him for his other qualities (which I’m struggling to recall at this moment in time). It is not an exact science and there seems to be a lot of give-and-take involved in the gaining or losing of a good reputation. In fact, and as dear Aaliyah would say as she wipes yet another tear from her eyes “nobody is perfect”! What you win on the roundabouts, you lose on the slides. That’s the way the cookie crumbles and, of course, habar fadhida lagdin la fudud. This is where I come into the story. Having looked at the site and the green reputation boxes under each nomads name, it seems that I am the nearest thing to perfection this site has ever seen. The exact words are “A splendid one to behold” and I, whilst being fully aware of the story of the goat that sucked its own milk, gladly agree with this description of myself. In fact, my own dear mother had often repeated that phrase whenever she used to tell me about the blessed occasion of my birth. This is how I looked at things throughout my stay in this place. However, lately, someone has been dropping doubting words in my ears and attempting to besmirch my good reputation. They (for I believe they are legion) believe that the stars beside my name are an attempt (presumably by some hidden powers) to soften me up and get me to sell out the land of my birth. Now before I get deeper into this narrative and start displaying my undying patriotism, let me inform you all that I am and have always been a born opportunist. But I see no worthy opportunity here to compel me to “sell out”. A few stars by my name are not enough; I said it before and will say it again, ONLY the ambassadorship of Peru will do. So, my fellow Somalilanders (less the doubting one) and others, do you think I am being softened up here or is this reputation deserved. And, why am I the only with nine stars beside my name? Also, why does Ayub have four stars when everybody knows that I’m infinitely more interesting than him (surely the difference between us is more than five stars). I was going to go on but then noticed the time. I need to go home now.

^^ I don't "dislike" Babel, saaxib. I just think he's one of those players that we've seen a million times along the years. They always have speed but are too lazy and too awful to actually do the job consistently. Rafa played him on the left, on the right and in attack. If he was consistent (in games and in training), he would have picked him ahead of Torres (that was Rafa). Rafa turned Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Reina, Lucas, Sissoko and Gracia into great players in his time. His record is also known for all. He is twice the manager that Leonardo is. But that's football. However, in hindsight, I agree that he made a mistake by going to Inter. Anyway, this is about Norf and his talk of Kuyt, not rubbish Babel.

Revolution in Tunisia. Which Arab country will be next? Egypt?

Jacaylbaro;688147 wrote: Arabs need to learn .... CAIRO: Arab leaders have begun taking extraordinary measures in an attempt to avoid widespread public protests like those seen over the past month in Tunisia, leading to the ousting of Tunisian President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali.Kuwait’s Amir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah issued an order that every Kuwaiti citizen be granted 1000 Kuwaiti Dinar (US $3,599), totaling US $4 billion, as well as free basic foodstuffs for citizens carrying a ration card until the end of March 2012. The grants marked the occasion of the country’s 50th independence anniversary, 20th liberation anniversary and next month’s 5th anniversary of Sheikh Sabah’s assumption of office. Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz vowed to increase his country’s budget to achieve prosperity for the Saudi people. He called on the citizens to have patience, saying the objective was to “take care of any failures we were unaware of in the past.” Syrian authorities issued instructions to increase subsidized home-heating fuel in an uncharacteristic change of policy reducing subsidized fuel in recent years. -

Kuyt, who you claim is not a footballer and has a bad first touch, holds up well when compared to your "flair" players such as Nani and Valancia (it will be a joke to even bring Babel into this, bax warya). What's more, he did all that whilst being asked to track back and help his right back. Season 10/11 - Liverpool have been playing badly whilst United are top. Yet..<O:p</O:p Kuyt played 17 games and scored four goals. (4 assists) Nani played 17 games and scored six goals. (11 assists) Valancia is injured. 09/10 - Liverpool finished seventh whilst United were fighting Chelsea for the title. Yet.. Kuyt played 37 games and scored 9 goals. (4 assists) Nani played 23 games and scored 3 goals. (10 assists) Valancia played 34 games and scored five goals (9 assists) 08/09 - Liverpool had their best season and finished second behind United. Peace Action;688842 wrote: [ Kaama daynayo, can you explain your murder mystery again. I am still trying to figure the real intention behind it. I agree with the above statement and I see it differently how Faroole tries to manover in the treacherous Somali political landscape. The SSC and Maakhir are major stakeholders in Puntland and all almost all the leadership of these communities are in line with the new Puntland administration policies. If these are any opposition, such as Atom, the only way to deal with al shabaab front is to fight it and it is dishonest to claim that he represents Maakhir community. There is simply no other option to deal with someone who wants to overthrow the state. The aggressive tone Faroole took against the TFG is, perhaps, meant to show Intl community how serious Puntland is about the direction TFG has taken and is re-positioning Puntland as a major stakeholder in the Somali affairs. A bit harsh and undiplomatic but very effective. You have tried to make a mountain out of a molehill which is typical for die hard secessionst postings against Puntland. Nothing to explain, sensetive man. Faroole made many enemies. In murder mystery games the victim has many enemies and the purpose of the game is to find out who had the biggest motive to kill him, etc. I wondered that if this was a murder mystery (seeing that the Imam had fallen out with far too many people), who would be the biggest cluprit? What's the problem dee, why are you getting your macawis in a twist over such a simple analogy? On your other comments. I know it is hard for you to forget that I'm a "secessionist" but nin ween bad tahay, saaxib. Secessionist or not, you should be reasonable and grown up enough to see a valid argument when it is presented to you, no matter the source. At any rate, you do finally agree that his recent action was a tad harsh! If it were the only thing that he did, I too would agree that I'm making a mountain out of a molehill. However, seeing that the man had threatened to sue Amin Amir, had fallen out with the ONLF, had fallen out with the SSC (I'm sure people from those parts will be quick to correct you and tell you that many of the leadership of that community are against Faroole, not with him) and had rubbed the Makhir community the wrong way (see Nassir and others for confirmation)..the molehill that you speak about BECOMES a mountain, saaxib. It is fair for anyone (though it really should be you rather than me) to question the man's abilities as a politician. You get me?

^^ Go look at Kuyt's stats, saaxib. You watch football like an Englishman would runta. It's all about following the herd and what the papers say not what the players actually do for their team. Kuyt is one of the most important players for Liverpool for a reason. Coaches such as Kenny and Rafa (even if we exclude Roy) do not pick him for no reason. War even the most famous Dutch man praised him during the world cup (for the exact reasons Rafa, Roy and Kenny continued to pick him): Cruyff hailed especially Dirk Kuyt: "It's great to see how he has developed into one of the most valuable players. Coming up to the tournament I had my doubts about him, but he has been great from the opening game against Denmark. And just look at what he has done since. He started wide-right, after that he played center forward and against Brazil he made sure on the left not only that Maicon was kept quiet, but he also prepared the winning goal. He's worth his weight in gold for your team." Aniga iga maqal saaxib, LFC will break your heart because your idea of football is the Arsenal idea (not even the Barca one). Go support the gunners, adeer.

N.O.R.F;688749 wrote: The only time he was given a run in the side he did well. He will do well in Germany. 12 PL goals from 91 appearances is not 'doing well'. Babel failed, saaxib. Rafa didn't play him, Roy didn't play him and now Kenny sold him. Worse still, no other big team came for him. That should tell you something ninyaho. Kuyt who you don't like is one that will be around for years and will get picked by every single manager LFC will ever have. Bahasho 'park football' maaha dee. Peace Action, My true feelings about Faroole have been expressed on here countless times, saaxib. You are far too sensitive to 'get' valid analogies dee. Naga daa dee. I was sure that you would find an excuse for all his disputes with EVERYONE. I was also certain that your blind defence would blinker you from seeing how bad all this appears. Lakin this thread was never about you, saaxib. Adigo you get paranoid when I praise PL, never mind criticising its president. This was for the gallery (but if some of it could seep through to you, all the better). Here is how it works; Politics and diplomacy work on stated principles and goals. PL has always claimed to be part of Somalia, it always claimed the people of SSC and Makhir as part of its population and it always painted itself as being one of the few peaceful and progressive parts of Somalia. The policy it followed to achieve and sustain these claims involved the wooing of the people of SSC & Makhir, the subtle distancing of itself from TFG affairs (whilst, most certainly, working with/against them in the background) and the vehement insistence that it is and will always be a Somali (federal) state. As plans go, this was the best of the lot. It was better than SL because it allowed PL to be part of Somalia whilst also having the right to make its own decisions for its own future. It allowed PL to make use of the Somali name for its own goals and also gave them the option of having some of their own people contesting the presidential and prime ministerial posts in Somalia. It was all win/win. Now previous PL presidents may have fallen out with the Somali state in the past, yet (to my knowledge) none came out with the daft statement of cutting off relations and not cooperating with the Somali government of the time (at least never openly). Add to that the fact that this president is already falling out with his own (supposed) citizens, the ONLF and (understandably) Somaliland, any outside observer would get the impression that PL (despite all its positive progress) is a hindrance to eventual peace in Somalia rather than being an aid. Impressions and perceptions in politics are important, saaxib. Some die-hard PL supporters may believe that Imam Faroole's mad (is it foreign or domestic) policies are just what the doctor ordered and may even support him in every last decision he made on those fronts. But what they (choose to) ignore is that the more enemies you accumulate the more potential trouble you get. Yet, some would still argue that none of this matters, since PL is already having direct dialogue with the international community and is getting help from (unnamed) Muslim countries. But the International community (meaning America in this instance) is not blind to what goes on in Somalia. And even if they were, it is now certain that SSC, Makhir, ONLF and the TFG (not to mention Somaliland) will make sure they are aware of PL's transgressions. The bad publicity is also sure to follow. But is this some conspiracy to bring PL down or is it self inflicted? I think most people will agree that other than the eternal dispute with SL, the rest of the fall outs were all needless political faux pas by the fumbling Faroole. Why in the world does he choose to employ this aggressive stance when one of the main plus points for PL was always about its peacefulness, progress and (outwardly at least) its avoidance of conflict? It is not a great secret that one of his sons runs that infamous Growe website and the recent rant on it about the UN (and the world in general) gives any passerby ample confirmation that PL's prime reaction to any political disagreement is to aggressively fight back and crush all who oppose it (regardless of how trivial the dispute is). Now, let us be clear that adopting an aggressive stance is a valid and legitimate tool in politics. Let us also be clear that it is the best option at times. However, PL does not use it as a tool in its political armoury; it actually uses it as its one and only policy. Problems are not to be solved in Faroole's world; they are instead wiped of the face of the earth. Dissenters are not wooed; they are labeled as terrorists and agitators. It is just not politics it's playground bullying. Always remember that Imam Faroole started his reign by falling out with and threatening to sue a cartoonist!
