Are you deliberately being flippant here or did you not read the first post on this thread, warya? She gave the reasons why already (and hardly any were political). As for your other points, maybe you should go have a word with Andrew Mitchell in Hargeisa.

N.O.R.F;692073 wrote: ^I actually agree with you. My problem is with the price. We bid 25m (which was still too much but an extra 10m can be counted for desperation) but 35m is just madness. As for Chelsea, poor guys had enough of him scoring against them so they decided to buy him He was a LEGEND and I can proudly say I witnessed all but one of his league goals live! Not sure which one is my favourite but probably between the first one vs Chelsea and the two at Old Trafford. The one vs Inter at San Siro was good and so was the one vs Marsielle at the Velodrome. Oh, the ones vs Everton as well. Liverpools No. 9. Great memories. The price was set by Spurs when they bid 30 million and failed earlier in the week. LFC had no choice in the matter. They needed to get a striker in and Carroll (who was going to be a summer target) was the only "proven" scorer they could get at such short notice. Like I said, I'm not too bothered about the price. United got Rooney from Everton for 25 million (six years ago) on the strength of his performances against the big teams. Carroll has already scored against City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool (he gave both United defenders a real hard time when he played against them too). Sooner or later a big club would have bought him. I'm just glad it is us rather than United or Chelsea. Torres was and still is a great player. Chelsea will ruin him.

Had a similar experience in a shiisha place in Dubai. The maqaaxi was near the gold souk and was frequented by almost every nationality that passes by that area. On the day I walked into it, the place was full and everyone was watching Al Jazeera news. There was a Somali guy sitting opposite and I tried to nod at him but he avoided my gaze, so I ignored him too. I sat next to an Egyptian labourer who looked like he was new to the country. There was a news report about an Egyptian ship that sank in the Nile killing all its passengers. The Egyptian started lamenting the loss of life and blaming his government for it. He was directing his complaints to me. I had a short conversation with him (in his own Egyptian dialect). Five minutes later, there was a report about Yemen. There was a Yemeni guy to my left who was listening to my conversation with the Egyptian guy and decided to join in now because the topic was his own country. I replied to him in his own dialect and we had a long conversation about Yemen and all things concerning that country. The Egyptian guy had to leave and said his goodbyes. Five minutes later, a UAE guy came in and asked me if anyone was sitting on the seat next to me. I said no. We started talking about stuff that I can’t remember now (in his own dialect). He later left and some African guys came to ask if the football game (between Liverpool and some other team) will be shown. I replied to them in English then asked the young guy who works in the cafe if he will be showing it. He said yes and me and the African guys had a heated conversation about the merits of Drogba, Torres and Villa (heh). Anyway, later, when everyone stopped talking and I was smoking my shiisha in peace, I noticed the Somali guy trying to attract my attention. I, naturally, replied in Somali. The shock on his face was a picture to behold. Turns out that he thought I was Egyptian, then Yemeni, then UAE, etc.... War Somalido waa qaxar.<O:p</O:p

N.O.R.F;691816 wrote: Ngonge, we bought Torres for £22m when he was an established international who played in world cup (and impressed). Carroll is a panic buy and nothing less. HE isn't worth £35m. He isn't worth £20m. Chelsea played it right and we have been stung. Waar we should pay that money to Villa to sell Bent (he would leave). Heh. Mad day. Nothing happens and when I leave the office it all kicks off! Shall I tell you about another young English player who was bought for lots of money on the strength of scoring against Arsenal or can you guess it already? Carroll is young, saaxib. Are you saying he will not score goals? If I had to make a bet about which of the two (Torres & Carroll) has a chance to prosper I would pick Carroll. I can't see how Chelsea plan to fit Torres in that team of theirs. If they play 4-4-2 with both Drogba & Torres up front, I can't see them having the "creative" midfielder that can feed those two. If they play 4-3-3 with Anelka, Drogba and Torres upfront, I can't see how Drogba (or Torres) will fit into playing on the right of that trio. Can Torres play in the "hole"? Can Drogba? Carroll is an old style forward. You already know that he will run, harry and cause meyham (as Arsenal, ask United or better still ask LIVERPOOL). With him and his style of play, you already know what you'll get. In fact, the Liverpool team looks much more balanced now that we have Carroll than it ever did when we had Torres (greatest player on earth though he remains). Suarez can play in ANY position up front. He can play as a second striker, he can play on the left or the right and he can play upfront on his own. In fact, now might actually be the time when the long suffering Kuyt may get some rest and Suarez takes his place on the right. It's all looking up, saaxib. Don't listen to Bob dee. Waa iska Arsenal fan.
-
^^ He's 21, has potential and can play with both feet (plus has the speed). On top of that, the whole Torres saga started late in the window and beggers can't be choosers. On the plus side, as I was telling Bob above, if we do sell Torres for 50 million it will mean that we did not actually spend much this window. Something like one million pounds (if you include the price for Adam and the money we got for Babel). Happy days.
-
^^ The last person that should be commenting on Carroll's ability should be an Arsenal fan. Dee naga daa, did you forget what he did to you at HOME? Liverpool's American owners are really going all out today. Carroll, Adam, Suarez and Ashely Young (allegedly). The thing is, we would still have spent LESS than Chelsea (net). BRING IT ON! P.S. We singed a youngster on loan too (no idea who he is). Heh.
-
^^ Still for one Torres, we got 50 million which means we can buy young Carroll (only 21 years of age and even Wenger remembers him real well ). We'll still have some change for Charlie Adam. All in all, not bad business for January (it'll mean we only spent eight million for both Suarez and Carroll. Yeah I bet Arsene is impressed).
-
^^ It's a rebuilding process at LFC. If Torres goes we have to get someone else in (a proven PL goal scorer). As for his cost, well blame that on your north london neighbours. Has Wenger bought any defenders yet?

^^ There are old stories about the Saudi royal family being Jewish too. It's all rubbish. Mubarak's mother is Egyptian. Even the Egyptians will tell you she is. Heh.

*Ibtisam;691667 wrote: Considering Hosni Mubarak mother is said to be of jewish family, it is no big suprise if he goes to Isreal really. I dont think he will go though, His mother is as Egyptain as can be. The rumour is that his wife's mother is English and may be Jewish. But the beauty of the net is that every old rubbish can be posted and it spreads too quickly. Mubarak is a dictator lets leave it at that.

Rooney handed in a transfer request. United gave him more money and he stayed. Tevez handed in a transfer request. City told him to stay and he stayed. Now Torres!

In 2009 the cities of Mecca and Jeddah both suffered from crazy floods that resulted in the loss of countless lives and properties. At the time, the King promised to investigate things and ordered his ministers to do all they can to ensure that nothing of the kind should ever happen again. The people blamed it on the lack of appropriate sewer systems and decent town planning. They accused those in charge of pilfering government proceeds instead of using them to improve the town and cities. The king (and his minions) were adamant that all such transgressions shall be investigated and stopped (he even gave a million riyals each to all the families that suffered from that tragedy). Last week, it rained again in Jeddah.
