  1. Salaam Sayid, Ibti, Malika & Juxa. I have nothing to say but thought it would be rude to watch your conversations without at least making some sort of noise. At the very least it answers Sayid's strange search for "life" in these forums.
  2. Got to love Usain Bolt. The man is full of surprises (including taking the Swedish women's handball team out clubbing), winning the 100 meters or this: :D
  3. LANDER;854600 wrote: Very Well Said! Not to mention the dedication and sacrifices he made being isolated in training camps in Kenya and the U.S often away from his family and pregnant wife. He stuck to his word after feeling dissapointed in the last olympics and gutted this one out. The man seems perfectly comfortable with who he is and what he represents. Being a Somali and a Somalilander and running for Great Britain in front of his hometown fans. He clearly doesn't have an identity crisis like those who would talk about 'celestial Somaliland' or would pass it off as a striclty 'british' achievement. The man knows who he is, you lot need to sort yourselves out. I'm sure he doesn't forget the people that have always supported him. Lastly, the sheer historic achievement is being overlooked here, if I'm not mistaken he is the first SOMALI OLYMPIC CHAMPION, Ahmed Salah of Djibouti won bronze in the marathon of Seoul 88 is the only other one I know of with a medal. That should fill every fair minded Somali with some measure of pride! P.S After the trashing of the two Bakaylee brothers I think Lazy G is waiting and hoping they will redeem themselves in the 5000 M before she resurfaces lol. A picture of Mo being greeted by his kin in true qodal fashion lol. Gabiley Stand up! God! Defensive much, saaxib? The London olympics motto is "Inspire A Generation" and Mo (even if he were from deepest xamar and not your beloved Gabiley) is doing that for UK Somali kids. Waxba ha is waalin ninyaho, nobody is taking him away from you. Nor can you take your ball away and refuse to play. Naga daa dee.
  4. This is not the world championships. It's the OLYMPICS! Saudi Arabia sent their first woman there and she lost her Judo contest within 90 seconds. Qatar's girl stopped halfway through her race and left the stadium on a wheelchair. Niger (the african country) sent a rower that was so slow even A&T could probably beat him. Heck, Japan sent a 71 year old in the dressage competition! The examples are many. Somalia, in its current state, was never likely to send a team of world beaters. It is all about representation. This is and has always been the olympic spirit. Most of you must have heard about the popular expression that goes "it's not the winning but the taking part". Though I wonder how many of you knew that this phrase is mostly attributed to the founder of the modern olympics. p.s. A&T's story is believable too; Somalido waa "Che" meedhan.
  5. ^^ Somalis and Somalilanders can have the left overs if they like. Mo made Somali Brits proud. Someone other than me would have probably enjoyed the beauty of watching my kids jump around the living room and shouting for Mo to win, I simply wanted them to shut up so I can hear the commentators. Still, this guy was one of them. A guy they can relate to more than LG's Zamzam or some other people from far off lands that mummy and daddy keep telling them about. It's a sad parting of the ways to be honest. But, as an "arab", I can easily live with such a thought. Not sure about you though. LG, like I told you in my first post; now eedo Basra is happy and eedo Xawa is happy too. Marka naga daa your hopeless analysis. : p.s. Che, when looked at in relation to each country's population team GB is actually TOP of that medal table. Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner That I love London so Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner That I think of her wherever I go I get a funny feeling inside of me When walking up and down Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner That I love London Town

Look for the heats then forward or rewind until you find the two or three minutes of those races. Ibti, just wait for someone to put it on youtube, which they will sooner or later. p.s. Norf is still going on about "proper" sport. War it's all sport dee.
  7. ^^ This guy must love taking picutres of himself, Oba. Naga daa dee. He'll be a fussy president who will keep stopping every event to shout "suga..suga..halkan ha la igu sawiro! Hadana, dhinaca kale iga sawir..hadana anoon okyaalo xiran..etc..etc..etc"
  8. Now this is an olympian.
  9. ^^ My cousin? Who is that. Of course, you have to bear in mind that I have recently disowned Siilaanyo. Johnny B;854200 wrote: ^An awful piece indeed. simply put , it's an invitation of an I-Block ( like NGONGE)? to the top office. I am not a puppet warya. Only when these guys accept and embrace the clan thing will they manage to talk seriously and have proper solutions for the problems at hand.
  10. ^^ War you never know, she might have improved her personal best in that race. Then again, miya la huba that she's an actual runner and is not related to any government minister or something? :p
  11. ^^ Staying in the olympic village, mixing with all the world class supestars and getting a five star service for the duration of her stay; luggooyo indeed! War at least she finished the race. Many others sulk and give up once they realise they can't qualify.
  12. Clan is Everything, even when a couple of loud mouths try to pretend it isn't. An awful awful piece.
  13. I think Alpha used the wrong username to make these comments. Love it when scripts malfunction. Heh.
  14. Don't criticize my friends Criticize my ideas Don't criticize my life style I'm fed up 'cause all you wanna do is criticize You've just closed your mind ooh ooh - criticize! With apologies to Alexander O'neal.
  15. Abwaan;853435 wrote: Look at how Abdi Bile sas ugu ridey:D Sebastian Coe, The London Olympics Chairman. He was not expecting Bile at all, markaas baa 90 miles per hour lagu dhaafay....This was one of the most historic days for Somalia. That's Steve Cram, saaxib. He now commentates for the BBC & Eurosport. Seb Coe wasn't even in the Rome final (and I don't speak from some google knowledge either, I watched all those races back when). It was a good race and he had some great speed at the end.
  16. The word "IN" in your title is as superfluous as your topic, saaxib.
  17. ^^ You mean the last twenty minutes before the athletes came out? p.s. You had to be into your music to enjoy that last part. Obviously, you would have preferred a bit of Jodeci, Boys II Men or Tupac!
  18. LayZie G.;853340 wrote: Minutes after Ngonge heard the news that fadhi ku dirir wasn't an olympic sport.....and he didnt qualify for his beloved sport..... Hopefully Ngonge can just sit and do nothing...(you know, represent) Not sure what you really found offensive in those words of mine, LayZie? Still, I admire the big pink letters there.

Waited for Somalia and team GB. Great spectacle. It was brilliant from start to finish. The director was very clever in the way he presented his ideas and the way he tried to differ from the previous cermoney in 2008. Where the Chinese went for the visually impressive (and I doubt ANYONE could top that), he went for ideas and subtle boasting. The entire cermoney (though he may not admit it) was a reminder to the word of why Britian has the word "great" before it (and without any mention of colonisation or guilt). To cram such themes as the industrial revolution, art, movies and music into those two hours was truly amazing. The thing had everything; from the Harry Potter author reading, James Bond dropping the monarch from a plane to Marry Popins, Mr Bean and even West Ham United's theme song. Britian was reminding the world of what it gave them in the areas of science, literature, music, movies and (with the inventor of the world wide web being paraded to the world) technology too! What is more fantastic about it all is that it was done in the most subtle and self deprecating way possible. For if you sat there thinking to yourself "I didn't know the Brits had a hand in such or such a thing" instead of thinking "bloody show off Brits", it means that the message of the ceremony was perfectly delivered. Good stuff. p.s. The athletes representing Somalia will (hopefully) do just that (represent). It does not matter if they win or lose. The fact that they are there when hundreds of others are not is enough (for now). At any rate, eedo Xaawa in deepest Somalia probably does not know the rules for the 400 meters but she sure knows what the Somali flag looks like and is proud of the fact that it appears alongside the flags of all those other countries. That should be enough. Likewise with eedo Basra in darkest Gabiley who may also not understand the rules but knows that the skinny guy wearing the British top was born a stone throw away from her own house and that, too, is reason enough for her to be proud.
  20. Sensationalist nonsense that is right up Layzie's street.
  21. Heh. Sounds like it's crazy Osman who'll contribute to the destruction of Khaatumo with his ill advised relapse into clannish mudslinging. What an utter midget!
  22. ^^ War caruurta daa dee. You can watch the game on the BBC site online. Edit: Mata & Co are losing!
