Ali_Somali, You’re one of various adversaries who believe that Somalis are not intelligent enough to engrave such an editorial, I am thwarted in you that you give your race such a demean educationally, I am the writer of this critique or African Identity, it appeared and actually is posted on an African Website, yet never appeared on any newspaper, as far as I know, if you would like to challenge my cerebral aptitude to post an article or post a forum this good, I have nothing better to be offended by you for your spiteful characteristic. Furthermore, you actually enthused me to post an article about Somalis resentment to their own brothers and sister’s success, you not only confirmed my worst fear of your covetousness, you proved that you had no better use for your verdict. I am sorry to inform you but I am glad people like you are not judging others, as for banishing me from this forum, sorry to disappoint you but this is free forum you and I have the same right …ouch! But if anyone should be banished from the forum it would be non other then you, for brazen way of calling me a bootlegger, you’re even worst then a communist Russian at least they had the audacity to create something similar but you just pose a threat to my intellectual ability to write freely. And next time, use your research wisely, and find out the so-called author you think wrote this article. Heed of what you write before you post it next time!

  6. Cawo, good topic and you present a really good question. Comment: I've heard many comments that many Somalis don't really know the meaning of love, although we are trying to change that and adopt to the Western ways of expressing love, seems we haven't reached a complete adaptation and we left our ways of dealing with love, Cilmi Bodher's to me it could be two things: Love at first sight which happens to many pple w/out interacting with a partner and least of all knowing anything about that person, to me trully remarkable cuz its hard to fall in love on the basis of sight alone, the other scenerio which you guys discussed lust could be true, this is important cuz many somalis mix that, the only way to know if you love someone is if you can't hide feelings for that person, i know many sisters find it hard to express while others get too emotional and blurb out everything, and we all know when brothers start playing games and dating as many as possible to hide their frustration the fear of giving all their heart to one, the medium is hard to maintain, but to play the love doctor w/out a degree here, is we need to get our S@#^&t together, for those of you this that feel this doesn't concern you ignore, but the rest who know what i am talking about comment pls. Which brings me to my: Question to all of you: what is your definition of love? Peace!

Shakuur I couldn't agree with you more, your point is well put. my answer to many bros and sis who still believe they're not Africans is try to do some research, you might find that your ancestory was more like monkeys then Arabs.. on seriouse matter I believe race, when self-defined by continent of ancestry, is a true reflection of the genetic differences between us and Africans as well as Arabs, Somalis and Ethiopians are both Admixture or Cocasians including Portugese/Arabs and Africans. But one true thing that remains is Somalia is Africa wether you like it or not you're considered African by rest of the World. PEACE

  11. Question to everyone. The richer the country the more it is dependent on Western country. Why do you think that is? Some examples are African Nations such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Saudi, UAE and many others are richer then any Western country, yet they fail to be less dependent to the West. It beggs the question, why do Arabs and Africans venerate i mean idolize Western? could the origins of this dependency be from this weird facination to the West. For centuries, it has done more harm then good, dectators from Africa and Mid East are brought to the West to be trained to dectate their own pple and oppress them from the rich cababilities the society could have with their countries natural resources, rather then liberate them with their so called education from western universities. Wors, it is a cycle, one dictator dies, another one is born to replace the old regime, and damn the same pple who created the old regime create the new one, if one dictator refuses to comply, what happens? the western country who helped put him to power calls the same person a terrorist, why i am sure you know why. The problem to me seems deeper then that, when I observed Africans or Arabs, I see a very prominent adoration given to a White or a Western person compared to that given to an Arab or worst Africans. In Egypt, Egyptians treat everyone terrible except Saudis and White poeple. don't tell me it is money, it has something to do with it but it is not the main reason because that white person could be a red neck, who has no money and no special ranking yet to the eyes of Egyptian he seems so important. Because the mere idea of being White symbolizes wealth, damn could you be more stupid. It pisses me off that he treats his brother less then that he treats a Westerner. My question is, do you think this is a chronic disease that we created by these poor societies or by the West, if so instead of blaming the West to everything give a concrete example why you think the way you think? Ciao!

fist tanx biG mOm for the compliment. second to reply to Zaylici, let me remind you of the fact that what you presented is quite an argument, in no way do i agree with what you're saying, simply because the argument you presented is one of the reasons some Africans/Somalis are having an identity crisis, a concrete example is my beloved Somalis. For many reasons that lie across the board the main one is the aftermath the war, which has made it difficult for our population to be settled in their country peacefully, and in response Somalis are scattered around the world, young pple forgot how to speak their language as well as how to maintain their culture, and merely assimilated to whatever culture they were exposed to. You said "we better identify ourselves as who we are" who are we? if we can't be identified with a continent, you used philosophy to argue against this, but philosophy increases questions rather then answers, and to be honest with you whatever Europeans did has been done, to use that as an argument to self distruct identity is outragiouse and nonsense, identifying ourselves with Afrique continent is justification for an identity that consists of customs, history, language, literature, music, and art which are an integral part people's idnetity and cultural heritage. Oh and finally here is where Africa came from it was not by Europeans, it was by Berbers "In the early times 'Africa' was used by outsiders to designate the continent. The origins of the geonym itself are still being debated. The dominant view is that it owes its existence to the ancestors of today's Berbers who referred to themselves as Afer (singular) and Afri (plural). The ethnonym became the geonym for the whole region of today's North Africa, and the Arabs transliterated this into Afriquia. " Peace
  15. Naziha goo point your raised sis but protesting does make a difference. and in spite your assertion which is true specially in this particular situation, it did make a difference in Vietnam, not much but even a little is a lot. protesting also does not necessarily mean taking to the streets. just speaking to our friends and aquaitances to express our feelings against our leader's actions is a form of protest. most of the protesting going on right now is passive protest. it's people saying "we don't want xxx" and being public about it, sometimes throwing rocks or whatever. unless the government is concerned about public opinion for whatever reason (in canada the gov't seems to be paying attention to these kinds of situations), the main effect is to increase public awareness about a problem. people who wouldn't normally think about it are forced to. more people form opinions on the matter. we are all a product of our environments and our own positions and beliefs are modified constantly by what we learn by listening to others. therefore, you can influence what others believe just by telling them how you see things. when we stop talking about war, we promote war. there are a couple of kinds of protesting, and both of them have effects. what there isn't a whole lot of right now is active peaceful disobedience, like refusing to go to work, or blockading airports and stuff. in san francisco there has been a fair bit of traffic-blocking in the last few days. when this kind of protest is really organized and targets specific places, it can have more effect on government because it shows the public is willing to act, and to escalate. peace

you all are very sweet and encouraging, actually, no research has gone to this article if you look around you everyday you'll notice a lot more then you really do now. this was just a way to release the frastration Africans have about their identity, like NAS said in his new song yea you know what i am talking about, you'll know how much colonization has ripped Africans off of, it is time our younger generation noticed more then the big chains around their necks and the fake hairs trying to be white or black, why not just be you African plus be proud...lol enough bout lecture, you probably get enough from your parents already so just be you! aight Peace
  17. It comes, as something of a surprise to many Africans to discover that all Africans look the same to non-Africans... How do you tell a Nigerian from a Kenyan? And I am not talking about passports or clothing. The easiest way, of course, is the name, for example "Ogunkoye", "Ekwekwe" or "Babangida" can only be a Nigerian; a"Njoroge", "Otieno" or "Kilonzo" must be from Kenya. Where else would you bump into a name like "Promise", "Immaculate" or "Patience" other than in Zimbabwe? And where do the Dunns come from? They are surely from Liberia or Sierra Leone. Surely everybody knows that the loud, boisterous and cocky ones are the West Africans; the brooding and sly ones are the North and Southern Africans; the East Africans always say yes even when they disagree vehemently. No wonder there has been very few coups in this region. They have no guts to go against the stablishment. They are also the UN's first choice for Peace-Keeping duties worldwide. Forget about the Egyptians and Sudanese who change their continents based on which side the bread is buttered. When convenient, and the petro dollar is flowing, they masquarade as Arabs. When the World Bank is dishing out aid to the third world, they shuffle themselves, cup-in-hand, jostling for the paltry aid given to poor African countries. If you want to be more specific, the Cameronians will borrow money to buy champagne. They can even sell a hole in their pockets to ape the bourgeois. The Ghanaians think they invented politics. No Ghanaian worth his salt will conclude a conversation without mentioning the famous Kwame Nkrumah or quoting a phrase from one of his speeches. Even when bargaining at the Bazaar, a "Kwame" phrase has a magical effect. The problem is they think that this effect is world-wide!!! A dukawalla in Bombay was forgiven for thinking "Kwame" was a unit of currency in Africa! The Congolese think they have the best music and the best dancers. They have this heavenly feeling that they were brought into this world to Sing and Dance... and please, for your own safety, don't you dare challenge that! A Congolese can be spotted from afar by the gait of his walk.... and it also depends on the mood of the walker: A "Ndombolo" walk is a sign of happiness (..also means 'I've just had it'); a "Baba Gaston" walk is a sign of old age. The Nigerians have a THING about clothes and jewellery. They are the Indians of Africa; you'll always find a Nigerian in any part of the world... there is one contending for mayorship somewhere in remote Russia of all the places. There is a Nigerian police inspector in the Falklands .... and there is a Nigerian cashier at the First National Bank of Woolongong.... (somewhere in Australia) I wonder how long he'll be there before he decides to become fluidy with the cash? They are like cockroaches and will be found in the most unusual places. The Ethiopians think they have the most beautiful women on God's earth(think about it, have your ever seen an ugly Ethiopian Lady?...no,not the post-menopause geriatric one, we are talking about the under 45 or so..hmm.), no wonder Arab men are killin themselves to find an Amharo women, lol I wonder what their reasons are, but the truth is Somalis have the most beautiful women in Africa. judging by the cover.....mmh I won't even mention where about the Somalis fit for the time being as they are suffering from a severe identity crisis. How else do you explain a Somali holding a Kenyan passport saying he was born and raised in "Pand-Pieri" (somewhere in Kisumu) while the same gentleman cannot utter the basic general greeting? Moroccans think they're French and so do the Burkinabes. Algerians hate the French. Sierra Leonians smile profusely. Liberians can't get over America...they copy everything including Rambo...no wonder they have Rambo-style rumbles in the jungle. Call it an influence from Hollywood? All East and Southern African countries have more or less the same boring national anthems, but the South Africans sing it the best. Which other national anthem can make your feet lose control and do a jig on their own? The South Africans have thick and springy hair; the Zambians and Kenyans have prominent foreheads and always smell from yesterday's sweat. The Nigerians have thick luscious lips and their females possess some of the widest posteriors. The West Africans have short memories and never learn from their mistakes; how many times are they caught all over the world on drug-related cases yet they continue the trade. How many times are they going to send those silly chain letters asking for bank accounts and pretending they are sons of chief so and so? The concept of order and discipline must have been invented in East Africa; the words don't exist in West Africa, especially in nigeria....does anyone know how many coups that country has endured? In Southern Africa when a cabinet minister is caught in a corruption scandal, he commits suicide; in West Africa he's promoted after the next coup d'etat. In Kenya, he is stripped of his cabinet post for a short while till the dust settles and then re-instated to a higher cabinet post which amalgamates his earlier cabinet post. In essence, he still controls his earlier ministerial post by proxy. In athletics, the divisions are easy: from 800m to the marathon the East Africans hold sway; the West Africans are only good at the sprints. South Africans can only sing. But when it comes to football (soccer),the North and West Africans dominate the lesser-skilled east and Southern Africans. Viva l'Africa!
