The reporter is saying --"which means its passport isn't recognized either"! The man on the street has to sell Somalia passport in Hargeysa and forge the signature of the minister in Mogadishu. The man on the street and the reporter say the NW Somalia's passport can't be used. But you claim to have travelled with it, contradicting the thread!!! Can you explain?

as long as i traveled with it .... many places sxb ,, including some parts of Europe ,, But the international community refuses to recognize the breakaway region -- which means its passport isn't recognized either. Don't dodge the question, can you explain why black market Republic of Somalia passports are being sold in Hargeysa and why the reporter says no one recognizes the break away NW Somali's one? But you claim to have travelled many places including europe, with the NW Somalia's unrecognized passport? Will you answer or avoid? You posted this!!

The people of Somaliland face an intriguing dilemma: which passport to hold? Somaliland declared its independence from the country of Somalia 17 years ago. Now Somaliland has its own flag, its own national anthem and its own passport. But the international community refuses to recognize the breakaway region -- which means its passport isn't recognized either. Ok help me understand, what's the point of starting this thread if you can travel with it like you claim? In the audio, the man on a hargeysa street sells black market Republic of Somalia passports to people which is illegal, he claims to have no choice because no one will accept the NW Somalia one, because every country says it is useless. He has to forge the signature of the minister in Mogadishu. The whole thread says that NW Somalia has a dilemma because no one recognizes their passport. However, you who posted this thread, is claiming that you have travelled with it including to Europe contradicting the man on the street and the reporter. Are you lying and are you justifiying it because it is a political move? Why are they saying they can't but you are saying you can?

Where have you travelled to with it?

First time I saw the president with glasses. He's doing an amazing job under intense and difficult odds. Meeting leaders and trying to find peace through dialogue. Something the opposition has no interest or no how of doing. Well Done!

Fair enough, I guess it's a matter of opinion. I feel 250+ in promised aid and 2+ million from australia and other nations is a sign of victory, even if it is one of many fake promises given to Africa. I believe even attempting to solve the enormous problems is also a sign of victory. They would never have been in meetings with world leaders if they were seen as hopeless or failures. Recently your admin in NW Somalia pleaded for aid because of a drought, was there any offical response to this? to me, refusing to even acknowledge ones existence is the biggest insult of all. Like I said this is a matter of opinion, you will not even admit a single positive accomplishment from any region that is not part of your enclave of NW Somalia, so you are not giving an unbias opinion. In Canada and America the Somali flag is being raised at government buildings. There is a pride right now that is sweeping the diaspora like never before. I believe Col Abdullahi Yusuf and President Sharif have a hand in this, that's victory.

Which is that he was "told" to leave the presidency by the same forces that have brought him, in the first place; whence that is, they have realised that he is not "cutting" it, where it maters the most, which is in Mogadisho and nowhere else, indeed. We finally agree with something and not only was he told to leave, he was also told to leave Somalia as well, he was offered a place in London as well which he politely declined. All this was done becase it is known that he is to powerful a force if he stayed in Puntland. They felt if they wanted to give Pres Sharif a fresh start and Prime Minister Abdirashid the opportunity to lead, they needed Col Abdullahi Yusuf the most influential person in Puntland to leave. This is the same man who actually sent your leader of NW Somalia running back to Hargeysa never to return. You said Col Abdullahi Yusuf was humiliated by the international community (the same one that was shaking his had in many pictures) so I wanted to point out the love and support he gets from Puntland, where it counts for him, which elevated him to the presidency and villa Somalia. Now back to Faroole's Somalinimo Theme which was the purpose of the thread. Col Abdullahi Yusuf made the Federal Presidency even more sought after then ever before, with the numerous international meetings and official presidential duties. Now everyone wants that seat, and Sheik Hotel as you like to say meets with leaders on a daily bases from the Arab league to the African Union. On the other hand your leader of NW Somalia Riyaale has done the same in making the Federal Presidency more sought after by showing all other regions that breaking away well get you no recognition after close to 20 years, even Arab states won't give you any sort of an official welcoming like the visit to Kuwait nor will the U.S invite you in anyway that differentiates you from the rest of Somalia. People understand what is real and what is make believe. You see Pirateland, Col Yey, Sheik hotel as complete failures, which is something you feel you have to do in order to help your cause, Sheik Sharif hasn't even been in the position for 6 months. However I see it differently! I think the international community only recognizes their existence, year after year. In the end, they won.

Garowe Online Somalia: Speaker leads Puntland delegation to Galkayo 7 Jul 7, 2009 - 7:25:43 PM GALKAYO, Somalia July 7 (Garowe Online) - The parliament Speaker in Somalia's semiautonomous State of Puntland led a government delegation to the city of Galkayo Monday, Radio Garowe reports. Abdirashid Mohamed Hersi, Speaker of the Puntland Parliament, led a delegation that included Health Minister Dr. Bashir Ali Bihi, Information Minister Warsame Shirwa "Sefta Bananka," and Women's Affairs Minister, Ms. Asha Ghelle. The delegation also included a number of vice ministers and members of the Puntland parliament. On Tuesday, the delegation held extensive talks with regional and district officials in Galkayo, capital of Mudug region. Galkayo connects the stable regions in Puntland to the war-torn regions of south-central Somalia. In recent months, the town has been the scene of violent attacks among local clans and militiamen have staged attacks on government outposts, including the prison. Speaker Hersi's delegation has not addressed the media or held any public events yet. But sources close to the meetings in Galkayo said the discussions were centered on improving security and local governance structures. Source: Garowe Online

Southern Galkacyo Falls to Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaaca

The ones who enter foreign waters illegally and destroy the eco-system and who fishes with massive trawlers are drawing cartoons like this? The Pirates don't have anyone ones interest at heart, they are criminals. Addicted to alcohol and drugs but when they catch fishing ships in Somali waters, I have no sympathy. Forget about illegal fishing in Australia if you only enter their water without authorization they will seize your ship and auction it off.

Somalipride, a lot of people hate that guy. He was after all the man named the butcher of Hargeisa. I have heard bad and good stuff about him. The same people that hate him, also hate anyone from his region. I have never heard them say a good thing about anyone other then themselves. So I'm not sure what their motives are. I remember a Reer Sanaag guy that I worked with claiming he was in Hargeysa during the civil war and that Gen Morgan was trying to calm the city by negotiating. He said it was the SNM rebels that came in and hide inside the city among the civilians, after they were warned not to and to stay in the mountains. I am not saying Morgan was good or bad, but he's been all over country and allied with so many people.

Yemen Detains Five Somalilanders In A Tense Standoff
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
So Yemenis are risking their lives and the fear of death or imprisonment back home, so they can bring poor ethiopians to their country. How much can each of them actually pay and would a yemeni need that small amount of money. The Yemeni government only recognizes one government in Somalia. Here's his pic Can NW Somalia produce a picture? -
The PLO are covering because they are fearful of targeted killings or capture from the must funded military in the world, what is the point of hiding your face in Somalia unless you are commiting a crime? You are supporting a group that only knows the gun and how to kill and injure that's it. President Sharif speaks of peace and has done everything by dialogue. The eritreans are using you to fight their proxy war!
-
Now there is a new fresh crop of leaders on the political scene. Pres Sharif, Prime Minister Abdirashid, Faroole. I think it's a good sign that the faces have change and others are given chances. I'd like to meet Gen. Morgan, that guys must have one heck of a story to tell. I've heard good and bad things, but he is definately a survivor.
-
And what has al shabab done that doesn't involve the gun? If its so good why cover your face?

Have you, ever, wonder, why that "humiliation" was so singularly visited on Col. Yey by the international community? Or even better, why, was it necessary do you think for the international community, if they were going to replace Col. Yey, in the first place, not to "appoint" someone who is from the same neck of the wood (as it were) as Col. Yey? I was in Puntland when Col Abdullahi Yusuf returned to a heroes welcome. He achieved the unimaginable and actually entered villa Somalia. Something NO ONE THOUGHT POSSIBLE. He is a hero in Puntland, one can't even imagine until they go there and witness it as I did. A Puntlander was not named as president after Col Abdullahi Yusuf because they wanted to try and find a solution to the only people that were giving them armed conflict, the former comrades of President Sharif. They wanted to find someone from there that they could work with and who hailed from that region (the south). I know that you are fully aware of why someone from the south was chosen and not a Puntlander this time around. You are just hopelessly wishing for everything to fail, and the same wish for any government that comes forward. Mr. Oodweyne, don't think that the international community will just forget about Somalia and recognize your enclave in NW Somalia. They will send an international force into the trouble areas again before that happens or continue to support new leaders like they have so many times now, no matter how bad things might get. Allowing the country to just be lawless is not an option and is their biggest fear, even more so is breaking it up as a tribe as you hope for. That's why there is only one leader that is allowed to meet with other leaders on official visits. Unlike Riyaale, with his most recent trip to Kuwait.

This is how children in Gaalkayo dress. I wish I had taken my own pictures of how many I saw walking on the streets after school. It's like a sea of boys and girls wearing white and blue. I didn't realize the kids in Northwest Somalia wore the exact same white shirt and blue dress pants. I thought they use'd a different colour since it is so similar to the Somali flag! I guess I should have remembered their proximity to each other.

slamists in Somalia Behead Two Sons of Christian Leader
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
I was in Nairobi this December that just passed by. I have never seen such blatant anti Islam propganda. Jerry Falwell (who is now deceased for the last two years) was speaking to the camera and reading from a book. Every sentence began with "radical islam", he claimed to be quoting the Quran. It went like this "Radical Islam says this, Radical Islam says that, this what Radical Islam Says." He must have said it 20 times in the couple minutes I watched it. The media there is definitely on a mission to paint Islam in a bad light, I suppose there is a fear too many people are turning to it. -
in somaliland our kids wear uniforms wa siidii ingreeska aynu uga barranay but why call your self puntland and us northwest anba magaciina ayaanu idinku yeedhan maxa ku diiday inad magacayaga noogu yeedhiid. It is Puntland State of SOMALIA! As it has been mentioned numerous times, to call some place Somali land makes no sense. Also, the British left you with nothing, don't credit them with a single thing! We were pawns during the fight to control Africa and then forgotten about!

I think we are talking about two different things here Mr. Oodweyne. Just like Siad Barre named a NW Somali as Prime Minister and built that area up, like the airport in Hargeysa and the sea port in Berbera. Any current Federal Government must do similarly and make sure that the president or prime minister is from Puntland. It wouldn't be a smart political move to have both leaders from the south. For instance, Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid will be coming to Puntland shortly and will wait for President Faroole, he is President Sharif link to Puntland. In your region of NW Somalia people are arrested for even speaking about participating in any government that is not dominated by the family that controls your enclave. Your policy of forbidding anyone from attending any peace processes has made Puntland even more important to any Federal Government! When Abdullahi Yusuf was elected in Nairobi, it wasn't by force. It's because he had Puntland as support, and if President Faroole chooses to run in the next Federal elections he will become a major candidate because he will have the support of Puntland which is a significant amount of the country. Puntland has its house in order, they got some issues but among themselves they change leadership peacefully and don't engage in war with each other. Their peace has given them huge leverage in Somali Politics!! So it's not about who has the military force to bring peace to the south as you might think, because it won't be solved that way. This is about who has more support from the nation. In the next elections the candidates from Puntland will, because they didn't use the gun to generate theirs! I think with you and your NW Somali counterparts, the perception is that the worst things are in the rest of Somalia and the more governments fail the better chance it is for you. But what you don't realize that all the turmoil brings more support from the international community and more focusing on building a nation. The international community engages and tries to build a government when things look their worst in Somalia. The invitation and meetings President Faroole held in Washington is proof of this and the 250 million+ promised from many nations to the Federal Government as well. If you think in the 11 years Puntland has existed it hasn't become a major force; then I think you are mistaken.

When President Faroole wears that Somali Flag pin and waves the flag in his hands, it seems to me that he is planning something towards the President of the whole nation. Puntland is by far the most organized region in all the areas of Somalia that still wants to be part of the nation. It is strategically located and is a safe haven for those trying to avoid war and is looking for a better life. When President Sharif was named president, he absolutely had to make his prime minister a Puntlander if he wanted to have any credibility. Every foreign power that had an interest in the current admin made it clear that a Puntlander needed to be made prime minister. The government after Sheik Sharif will have to make the same consideration as well. When I was in Gaalkayo I remember speaking with members of foreign governments and they all spoke about how all roads lead to Gaalkayo and the strategic importance of the city. If president Faroole desires to run for the head of state after Sheik Sharif he will definitely be a contender simple because he is from Puntland. Even during the height of piracy and other problems prime minister Omar Abdirashid was given the job, Abdullahi Yusuf was pres before that and Hassan Abdishir was prime minister of the government before that. The reception that President Faroole is getting right now in the US is just giving him a little taste of what he will get as president of the nation. I'm sure it will only increase his hunger. Meeting the Chinese, French, German, speaking at the UN and so many other responsibilities that come with the job of president is something that some politicians have wanted for decades. NW Somalia's leader has been begging for that attention for years and still can't even get an official invite from the US as a recognized state or even an official welcoming when he went to Kuwait recently. The Somali Federal government is the only recognized government from its borders with Djibouti to its borders with Kenya, and as of now Puntland is factored in as a big part of that government or any future one.
