  6. OH well well...what a suprise eh. David Miliband has admitted two US 'extraordinary rendition' flights landed on UK territory in 2002. The foreign secretary said in both cases US planes refuelled on the UK dependent territory of Diego Garcia. He said he was "very sorry" to have to say that previous denials made in "good faith" were now having to be corrected. The renditions - the transport of terror suspects around the world for interrogation - only came to light after a US records search, he said. BBC world affairs correspondent Paul Reynolds said the revelations were "a serious embarrassment for the British government". Former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and former Prime Minister Tony Blair made statements in 2005, 2006 and 2007 saying there was no evidence that rendition flights had stopped on UK territory. Mr Miliband said the US had told him that neither of the two men involved in the rendition were British, neither left the plane and the US had "assured" him that no US detainees were ever held on Diego Garcia and US records showed no other evidence of renditions through UK territory. But he said he would compile a list of all flights in UK territory about which concerns had been expressed to send to the US for "specific assurance" they were not used for rendition. One of the men involved has since been released and one is at Guantanamo Bay. We both agree that the mistakes made in these two cases are not acceptable Labour MP Mike Gapes, chairman of the foreign affairs select committee, told MPs the US administration "has clearly misled or lied to our government, [which] has resulted in our government misleading... members of this House." But Mr Miliband told the BBC later: "I do not believe the US government set out to mislead the British government. I believe they told us in good faith they had no evidence of the use of Diego Garcia." He said British principles were "absolutely clear" - that it would not support the use of rendition for torture and always required permission for the use of British bases. "I have it from the mouth of the Secretary of State of the US that that is understood at the highest levels of in the American government," he added. Amnesty International UK director Kate Allen said extraordinary rendition was "a polite way of talking about kidnapping and secret detention". "It is not enough for the government simply to accept US assurances on correct behaviour in the war on terror - we should retain our own integrity and act accordingly," she said. In a statement CIA director Mike Hayden said neither of the two men on the flights "was ever part of CIA's high-value terrorist interrogation program" but said they would learn from their "errors". He added that speculation about a CIA holding facility on Diego Garcia was "false" - as were allegations that detainees were transported to be tortured. "Torture is against our laws and our values. And, given our mission, CIA could have no interest in a process destined to produce bad intelligence."
  7. ^^^Must you insist on bring the thread back up alive dear.
  8. I think I should give up while I'm ahead and before I become a total addict! I can't get pass 22. Good luck to the rest still trying.
  9. ^^^Maybe another day and another time. I don't really have the energy now.
  10. ^^^^I just figured that out!!! Cool. Lets try again. Serenity, not bad. lol. Laba_Xiniinyood, lol. Yeah I am, well I'm suppose to be anyway. Soma_Inc: I now fully blame you.
  11. I'm still trying, it is addictive, and I’m avoiding work, so I will keep trying till I break the 18sec. Soma_Inc I don’t know whether to thank you or not.
  12. ^^^Show off!! I blame my touch screen. I'll try 2morrow at uni.
  13. I can appreciate that he can have individual views which may or may not be compatible with organizations which he represents. Perhaps he can make it easy to distinguish between them by not publicly lumping his personal views with organizational ones. Perhaps I was wrong to expect or link his real life approach with his online mannerism. All “oh your been mean, personally attacking him, or have any unfair advantage over him” is making me feel overwhelming guilty, so Smith, my apologies. I am sorry. Rest assured I’ll be out of your way. Cheers.
  14. ^^^Maxaad tiid?? Caamir: Just Liberia has agreed, the rest have said no.
  15. ^^Lool. FB: hmmm.. waan kuu soo noogoyah 2moorow. I have no energy right now, Pluz I need to brush up my own Shid.
  16. Ngonge Do you want to challenge, compete and upstage the Israeli lobby? Get real and ditch your principles. That's politics, my dear. Do I even need to say anything, I could successfully argue that the only reason the Israeli lobby has and continues to succeed is because of the basic principles. I admire them to no ends because although their principles are hard to justify to everyone else, they have not only maintained it, but have managed to brainwash people into accepting or tolerating them. Toure: Don't hide behind Ngonge trash about dropping principles please. I know you really don't think that you have to sacrifices your basic principles in order to be involved in politics. If you do then what is the point of you just adding to the numbers?? Come general election I will vote either on the one who is least oppressive to Muslims both here and aboard or Muslims will block vote to ensure there is not a majority of who ever wins in parliament, there by making the government decision making process more restrictive with better scrutiny.
  17. ^^^^Now you are just being judgemental! That series is not in the UK for another two seasons so I cannot comment, but from experience of hearing other “victims” they seem to over generalise and relate to everything from the way they walk to the inability run on GFM. You can highlight the issue without exaggerating or tainting the whole culture as evil, controlling and epidemic. Although there are sever cases, by large Somali practice is not as endemic or as sever as other countries that are used as comparison.
  18. Haneefah and FB I was not talking about myself, I was referring to the promotional material which is exclusive. I was just making an observation that it would be better if the advertising crew widen the issue out to Somali’s as whole as the project is likely to benefit many Somali’s, and they will raise more funds. I have no issue, nor do I need invitation, I would've gone and made myself right at home...if it was not at 2pm on a weekday because I do think the project is worthwhile. P.s. Apparently that was not the main event anyway. P.s.s I’m sure there was a guy at the door with a sign in sheet and head count of all the Makhirin in UK, saying no no, magacgu kuum qooranah halkan. lol
  19. lol. Girls... get ready Isseh wants something your you guys...WHAt?? did you really think this "appreciation" was free?? Maskeen. lool
  20. Loool CL. You crazy women. It would not bother me as long as he remained professional and is competent. I'd much rather giving him the money than anyone else. I draw the line at a male gynaecologist, urologist, oncologist etc. The strange thing is these professions seriously lack female practitioners.
  21. And I though only that women were manipulative, check out Ngonge manipulating our words left and right.
  22. ^^^I won't go as far as that. Cara: You agree with me, unknowingly. Underground hiphop is alive and kicking, they just don't get the light of day because the mainstream is dominated by trash. Lipe Fiasco has managed to get to mainstream without diluting or dumping down- that is all. I really wish underground hiphop would become mainstream while maintaining what makes it different, original and underground. Obviously the likelihood of that happening is small. Artist often have to mellow out to become mainstream and make money.
  23. ^^^^loool^. I think you are seeing things, how about you reread it!! lol We are not going because the event is not worthwhile as we deem it will fail, nor are we looking or serious enough to qualify. People are suppose to go willingly Ngonge, not be dragged there kicking and screaming! Lol You know by re-justifying my reasons I feel like I’m making excuses, so I’m going to stop right here.
