Barakacayaal, Queen Boodo, xayiraad iyo isku eedayn dil iyo shirqool—kuwaas ayaa ugu badnaa waxyaabihii laga maqlaayay Qalka Golaha Shacabka oo fadhigiisii caadiga ahaa Sabtidii ku qabsaday xaruntiisa Villa Hargeysa.
Sida wax u dhaceen shalay waxay ahayd mid aan ku imaan qorshe iyo ajande rasmi ah. Xildhibaannada ayaa dhaafay xuduudka doodda iyo aragti is-weydaarsiga. Waxaa golaha ka dhex dhacay aflagaaddo, eedayn iyo isku xukumid dambiyo.
Hannaanka hoggaaminta Aadan Madoobe ayaa qayb ka mid ah Xildhibaannadu wax iska weydiiyeen. Marka la eego sida uu u maareeyey fadhiga shalay, dad badani waxay qabaan inay tahay caddayn aan marag u baahnayn. Kulankii ayaa ku dhammaaday qaylo iyo buuq.
Fadhiga baarlamaanka ee qabsoomay ayaa ajandihiisa lagu soo daray mooshin lagu dalbanayo in la laalo xayiraadda duulimaadyada ee saaran Maamulka Jubaland. Sidoo kale, waxaa la qorsheeyay in loo yeero hay’adaha ammaanka ee mas’uulka ka ah xannibaadda.
Qayb ka mid ah Xildhibaannada ayaa keenay cabasho ay ka muujiyeen ishortaag safar oo lagu sameeyey xilli ay u jeedeen dhanka Kismaayo.
Furitaankii kulanka ayaa isku beddelay gole muran, qaylo iyo dhawaaq taban. Xildhibaannadii hadalka qaatay—oo u badnaa mucaaradka—ayaa eed tiro beel ah dusha ka saaray Xukuumadda. Inkastoo ay xaq u lahaayeen inay doodaan, haddana dooddu waxay gashay deel-qaaf, waxaana golaha ka soo baxay erayo aan dheguhu jeclaysanayn maqalkooda.
Doodda metaalada iyo deegaanka
Doodda Xildhibaannada oo u muuqatay mid ka firfircoon sidii looga bartay ayaa kululaatay, kaddib markii ay xubnaha Baarlamaanka dooddooda u dhigeen qaab deegaan, qabiil iyo reernimo. Tani waxay muujisay in Xildhibaannadu aysan aragti dowladnimo ku dhisin dooddooda.
Hadalkii uu Xildhibaan Xasan Cabdi Ismaaciil (Yare) ku tilmaamay xubnaha ka soo jeeda Soomaaliland inay yihiin barakacayaal ayaa buuq weyn dhaliyey. Hase yeeshee, marka laga tago xanafta hadalkiisa, haddana marka dhanka kale laga eego, hadalka Xasan Yare wuxuu xujo ku yahay doorashada qof iyo cod ah.
Eedaymo waaweyn oo la soo bandhigay
Intii uu socday fadhiga Baarlamaanka wuxuu u muuqday meel aan xeer iyo xad lahayn. Xildhibaannadu waxay sii daayeen eedo badan, kuwaas oo qaarkood aad u culus yihiin, laguna jiro eedo la xiriira dil.
Mid ka mid ah Xildhibaannada laga soo doorto Jubaland, gaar ahaan Gobolka Gedo, ayaa Wasiirka Amniga ku eedeeyey inuu in ka badan toban jeer dil iyo shirqool u maleegay. Xildhibaanku wuxuu Wasiir Cabdullaahi Sheekh Ismaaciil Fartaag—oo isku deegaan yihiin—dusha u saaray inuu naftiisa halis geliyey. Waa eed aad u weyn, maadaama Wasiir Amniga Qaranka uu mas’uul ka yahay badbaadada shacabka. Arrintan waxaa sii cuslaynaya in Xildhibaan Qaran oo xasaanad leh uu Baarlamaanka hortiisa ka jeediyey eeddiisa.
Xeeldheerayaasha sharciga iyo garsoorka oo aan la hadalnay waxay qabaan in eedda Xildhibaanka aan sidaas lagu dhaafi karin. Waxay ku doodeen in arrinta aan laga dhigi karin eed siyaasadeed, balse loo baahan yahay baaritaan garsoor oo madax-bannaan si shacabka loo soo bandhigo xaqiiqada.
Sida shalay wax uga dhaceen Baarlamaanka kama turjumayaan meeqaamka golaha. Waxaa la soo jeediyey eedeymo, shirqool dil, xayiraad, caga-juglayn iyo bahdil ay la kulmeen xildhibaannada.
Marka la eego dhammaan wixii meesha ka dhacay, waxay muujinayaan sida golahani u yahay mid fadhiid ah, laguna tilmaami karo Baarlamaankii ugu tayada hooseeyay ee dalka soo mara, fashil hoggaamineedna uu haysto, sida ay qabto Xildhibaan Cadar oo Jubaland ka soo jeeda.

Madaxweynaha Ukraine ayaa todobaadkan la kulmay wax lagu tilmaamay bahdilkii ugu weynaa ee hoggaamiye dal uu Mareykanku u geystay, ayadoo Trump iyo ku xegeenkiisu ay si wadajir ah goob fagaare ah oo warbaahintu toos u tabinayso ku canaanteen Zelensky.
Madaxweyne Zelensky ayaa Washington u tagey inuu Mareykanka u saxiixo qaadashada macdanta dalkiisa, asagoo ka filayay inay taa badalkeeda u dammaanad qaadaan in laga difaaco Ruushka, balse wuxuu la kulmay ihaanadii ugu darnayd ee hoggaamiye dal madax-bannaan lagula kacay.
Zelensky oo asagoo isku halaynaya taageerada reer galbeedka u bareeray dagaal ka dhan ah Ruushka ayaa hadda cidla ciirsi la’ taagan, waxaana lagu sun-dulaysanayaa kheyraadka dalkaagoo dhan haddii aad inoo saxiixdo waa laga yaabaa inaan ku difaacno.
Haddaba Soomaaliya oo burburkii wixii ka dambeeyay boqolkiiba boqol isku dhiibtay reer galbeedka, islamarkaana wax walba ayaga ka sugaysa, oo isku tashi laga waayay, kheyraadka Ukraine mid aan ka yaranayna haysata ayay la gudboon tahay inay cashar ka qaadato wixii ku dhacay Zelensky.
Reer galbeedku waxay ku maahmaahaan “ma jirto qado bilaash ahi”, sidaas awgeed taageerada reer galbeedku dan iyo ujeedka gaar ah ayay xambaarsantahay, qorshe ajanabi ayaana ku hoos duugan, sida xeeldheerayaashu qabaan.
Madaxda iyo dadweynaha Soomaaliyeed oo taageero, dhaqaale, gargaar bini’aadantinimo, dowlad dhis, xasillooni, iyo hormar ka sugaya dalal shisheeye ayaa haatan looga fadhiyaa inay isku tashi kaga gudbaan dhibaatooyinka ku dhowaad 40-ka sano daashaday, asaagoodna ka reebay.

Ankara (Caasimada Online) – Kooxda hubeysan ee Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), ee la mamnuucay, ayaa Sabtidii ku dhawaaqday xabbad-joojin degdeg ah, sida ay shaacisay wakaalad warar oo ku dhow kooxdaasi.
Go’aankaan ayaa yimid kadib markii hoggaamiyaha xiran ee kooxda Abdullah Ocalan, uu ku baaqay in la dhigo hubka, taasi oo ah tallaabo weyn oo lagu soo afjari karo kacdoon 40 sano socday.
Ocalan ayaa Khamiistii ugu baaqay PKK inay hubka dhigaan oo ay is-kala diraan, arrin ay taageereen xukuumadda Madaxweyne Recep Tayyip Erdogan iyo xisbiga mucaaradka ee u ololeeya xuquuqda Kurdiyiinta, DEM.
Haddii xabbad-joojintu hirgasho, waxay saamayn weyn ku yeelan kartaa gobolka, iyadoo la soo afjari karo dagaalka ay PKK billowday 1984-kii, kaas oo sababay dhimashada in ka badan 40,000 oo qof.
PKK, oo hadda saldhig ku leh buuraha waqooyiga Ciraaq, waxay muddo dheer dagaal kula jirtay dowladda Turkiga.
Dagaalkaasi wuxuu si weyn u saameeyay koonfur-bari Turkiga, halkaas oo uu kumannaan qof ku dilay, sidoo kalena dhaqaale burbur oo weyn gaarsiiyay.
Xabbad-joojinta ayaa Erdogan siin karta fursad siyaasadeed oo gudaha ah, islamarkaana u noqon karta tallaabo taariikhi ah oo lagu xasillinayo gobolka.
PKK waxay sheegtay inay rajeynayso in Ankara ay u oggolaato Ocalan, oo tan iyo 1999 ku jira xabsi go’doon ah, xorriyad dheeraad ah si uu u hoggaamiyo geeddi-socodka dhigaalka hubka. Kooxdu waxay sidoo kale xustay in ay lagama maarmaan tahay in la abuuro xaalado siyaasadeed iyo dimuqraadi ah si heshiiska loo hirgeliyo.
“Anaga oo ah PKK, si buuxda ayaan ugu raacsanahay nuxurka baaqa, waxaana caddeyneynaa inaan fulin doono dhammaan shuruudaha lagu xusay,” ayay kooxda ku sheegtay bayaan ay u dirtay wakaaladda wararka ee Firat.
“Si kastaba ha ahaatee, hirgelinta dhigaalka hubka waxay suurtagal noqon kartaa oo kaliya haddii hoggaaminta tooska ah uu yeesho Hogaamiye Apo,” ayay sii raacisay, iyagoo xusay inay si degdeg ah u joojinayaan weerarrada, ilaa laga soo weeraro.
PKK, oo ay Turkiga iyo xulafadiisa Reer Galbeedku u aqoonsan yihiin urur argagixiso, ayaa sheegtay inay diyaar u tahay inay qabato shirweyne, sida uu Ocalan codsaday. Si kastaba ha ahaatee, waxay shuruud uga dhigtay in la xaqiijiyo ammaan buuxa si Ocalan uu si shaqsi ah u hoggaamiyo shirkaas.
Muxuu Erdogan ka yiri?
Isagoo ka hadlayay munaasabad afur ah oo lagu qabtay magaalada Istanbul Sabtidii, xilli ay billaabatay bisha barakeysan ee Ramadaan, Madaxweyne Erdogan ayaa sheegay in Turkiga uu dib u bilaabi doono howlgalada ka dhanka ah PKK haddii geeddi-socodka dhigaalka hubka uu istaago.
Waxa uu intaas ku daray in qorshahan uusan wax saameyn ah ku yeelan doonin dadaallada dowladda ee lagula dagaallamayo argagixisada.
“Haddii ballamihii la qaaday si joogto ah loo wado dib-u-dhigidooda, ama la isku dayo in wax lagu sirto, magaca la beddelo, oo wax walba la iska yeelo sidii la doono, mas’uul kama noqon doonno wixii dhaca,” ayuu yiri Erdogan.
“Haddii loo baahdo, howlgalladeenna – oo weli socda – waan sii wadi doonnaa, ilaa argagixisada dhammaan laga ciribtiro, dhagax dhagax kale laga dul qaado, madaxna garbaha laga tuuro,” ayuu hadalkiisa raaciyay, isagoo xusay in Ankara ay sidoo kale soo afjari doonto halisaha kaga imanaya xadka.
Madaxweyne ku-xigeenka Turkiga, Cevdet Yilmaz, ayaa horey u sheegay in burburka PKK “aan wax wadahadal ah lagu samaynin” ay furi doonto waddo cusub.
Dadaalladii hore ee lagu joojin lahaa kacdoonka PKK, oo la sameeyay intii u dhaxaysay 2009-2011 iyo 2013-2015, ayaa fashilmay, taasoo keentay rabshado sii kordhay.
PKK oo dalbanaysa xorriyadda Ocalan
Xisbiga DEM ayaa Jimcihii ugu baaqay dowladda inay qaado tallaabooyin lagu xoojinayo dimoqraadiyadda, iyagoo u sheegay wakaaladda Reuters in jawaabta dowladda ay tahay mid aad u muhiim ah.
Dhanka kale, PKK ayaa ku adkeysatay in Ocalan “uu helo xorriyad jir ahaaneed, yeesho xaalado nololeed iyo shaqo oo sax ah, oo uu xiriir la samayn karo cid kasta oo uu doono, oo ay ku jiraan asxaabtiisa, iyadoon wax caqabad ah jirin.”
Wali ma cadda in Ankara ay wax ka qaban doonto dalabyadan. Wasiirka Caddaaladda Turkiga, Yilmaz Tunc, ayaa Jimcihii u sheegay taleefishinka CNN Turk in aysan jirin wax wadahadal ah oo ku saabsan cafis, xabsi guri, ama ikhtiyaarro kale.
Dadka fallanqeeya siyaasadda Turkiga ayaa sheegay in Erdogan, oo horey dhowr jeer u isku dayay inuu soo afjaro colaadda, uu hadda diiradda saarayo faa’iidada siyaasadeed ee uu ka heli karo nabadda, isagoo xusaya inuu doonayo in uu xafiiska sii joogo kadib marka xukunkiisu dhammaado 2028.
Heshiis nabadeed wuxuu meesha ka saari lahaa arrimaha la xiriira PKK ee ka taagan waqooyiga Ciraaq, halkaas oo ay Kurdiyiinta xukumaan islamarkaana uu Turkiga dagaal kula jiro maleeshiyaadka.
Baaqii Ocalan wuxuu daba socday soo jeedin lama filaan ah oo bishii Oktoobar ka timid Devlet Bahceli, oo ah xulafada Erdogan ee mayalka adag. Dalabkiisa waxaa si wanaagsan u soo dhaweeyay Mareykanka, Midowga Yurub, iyo xulafada kale ee Reer Galbeedka, iyo sidoo kale dalalka deriska la ah Turkiga sida Ciraaq iyo Iran.
Sabtidii, Bahceli ayaa soo dhoweeyay bayaanadii PKK, isagoo sheegay in aysan jirin wax wadahadal ah oo lala geli karo kooxdaas, islamarkaana hubka dhigistooda iyo burburkooda – iyo dhammaan garabyadooda – ay tahay arrin dan ugu jirta qof walba.
“Xaaladdan cakiran iyo duruufaha adag, fursad taariikhi ah ayaa u furantay Turkiga,” ayuu yiri Bahceli, isagoo xusay in aan la oggolaan karin in hanaanka nabadeed la carqaladeeyo.
Turkiga ayaa isku dayaya inuu uga faa’iidaysto isbeddelka siyaasadeed ee gobolka, gaar ahaan kadib burburkii xukunkii Bashar al-Assad ee Suuriya. Dowladda cusub ee Islaamiga ah ee Dimishiq ayaa xiriir wanaagsan la yeelatay Ankara, taasoo sii xoojisay dagaalka uu Turkiga kula jiro xoogagga Kurdiyiinta ee waqooyiga Suuriya.
SDF, oo Mareykanka taageero, ayaa sheegay in baaqa Ocalan uu yahay mid muhiim ah, balse uusan khuseynin iyaga.

The Port of Lamu is set for more activity following agreements between Kenya and neighboring countries to increasingly use it as a regional transshipment hub.
President William Ruto has said he recently reached an agreement with landlocked Ethiopia to use the port to move imported goods to the hinterland.
“We have agreed with the Government of Ethiopia to start using Lamu Port so that we can create more jobs and grow the economy of this region,” he said.
He made the remarks when he launched the first Kenya-Off Grid Solar Access Projects in Ndau Island, Lamu East Constituency, Lamu County, on Thursday.
President Ruto said he would soon host regional leaders at the Lamu Port, Kenya’s second biggest after the Port of Mombasa.
It is also a major component of the Lamu Port-South Sudan- Ethiopia Transport (Lapsset) corridor, which has been in development since 2012.
The President announced that the first three modern berths at the Lamu Port are complete and ready for use.
He urged Kenyans, especially those from the Coast region, to take advantage of the facility to export and import their goods from the port.
Further, he said the government has set aside KSh1.7 billion to compensate fisherfolk who were displaced to facilitate the construction of the port.
Present at the functions were Governors Issa Timamy (Lamu) and Godhana Dhadho (Tana River).
Later, President Ruto launched the 468-unit Mokowe Affordable Housing Project in Lamu West Constituency, which he said will create job opportunities for young people in the area.
On electricity, he said the National Government will connect 7,000 households in Lamu County to power at a cost of KSh600 million in this financial year.
The President reiterated that the discriminatory practices that denied parts of the country development resources have ended, and every part of Kenya must belong.
He urged Lamu residents to shun tribalism, which can ferment hatred and division among the diverse communities living in the county.
In Tana River County, President Ruto commissioned the Bura Gravity Canal (Korakora–Nanighi), which will expand the acreage under irrigation from 6,000 to 25,000 acres.
“Seventy per cent of the funding for this project came from the government because we recognise the importance of agriculture in producing food to eradicate hunger,” he said.
The President pointed out that the government is giving priority to investment in agriculture to make Kenya food secure and eliminate the shame of hunger.
He said the plan will not only create wealth for farmers but also reduce reliance on imports that strain the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
At the same time, President Ruto urged Kenyans to reject politicians dividing the country along tribal lines.
He said such leaders have resorted to outdated tribal politics because they lack a plan that could take the country forward.
“We will not allow people who have no plan, vision or agenda for the country to derail us with negative ethnicity and useless politics that divides the nation,” he said.
The President went on: “We must stay united. We are one people and one nation with a common destiny.”
Also in attendance were Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, MPs, and MCAs, among other leaders.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived at Downing Street to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.“We stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Starmer said shortly after the president’s arrival, adding that Zelenskyy is “very welcome here.”
Zelenskyy thanked Starmer for his country’s support and expressed his gratitude for an invitation to meet with King Charles on Sunday.

Deep Decarbonization Pathways [Learn More]The two did not mention US President Donald Trump.
Before he met with Starmer, the Ukrainian leader was in Washington on Friday to sign an expected deal on Kyiv’s rare minerals and mark a new chapter in the Ukraine-US relationship.
Instead, the meeting blew up in front of the cameras in the Oval Office where Trump berated Zelenskyy for not being “ready” for peace with Russia.
Zelenskyy to meet King Charles on Sunday
UK media has reported that King Charles will welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Sandringham estate on Sunday.Following the televised White House showdown with US President Donald Trump, Zelenskyy has landed in London to meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street before a summit with European leaders on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Trump accepted an invitation delivered by Starmer for an “unprecedented” second state visit to meet King Charles in Scotland.
Video: Did Trump, Vance premeditate clash with Zelenskyy?
Tyson Barker, a foreign policy analyst who recently served in the Biden-Harris administration working on Ukraine, told DW that the Oval Office clash was “in some ways a produced moment.”He called the intervention by US Vice President JD Vance “highly irregular,” adding that “there needs to be considerations whether or not this was premeditated.”
Barker told DW that Vance is playing the “bad cop” in the Trump administration, hinting at the US Vice President’s speech lambasting European leaders at the Munich Security Conference a few weeks ago.
According to Barker, it’s hard to imagine that Vance made such “condescending” comments to Zelenskyy “without the explicit predetermined permission of his boss.”
During the heated debate at the White House on Friday, Vance asked Zelenskyy: “Have you ever said ‘thank you’ once?” He also lectured the Ukrainian leader: “It’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office to try to litigate this in front of the American media.”
Neither Ukraine nor the US benefit from Zelenskyy-Trump spat, former Ukraine PM tells DW
Ukraine’s former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said “there’s only one person who completely benefitted” from the heated exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday. And “it’s Putin, war criminal Putin,” he told DW, adding that, “neither Ukraine nor the Trump administration benefit from this.”
He called on Ukrainians, along with their European allies, to “urgently step up” in order to “have Americans back on track.”
Yatsenyuk warned autocracies worldwide will be emboldened if the US abandons Ukraine. “We need to do our best to have Americans back in the game to help them to lead the free world… Otherwise, dictators and autocrats like Putin, China, Iran, Venezuela, North Korea and the rest of the gang, they will depose the United States from this leadership position.”
He also stressed that Americans need to realize that Russia is an “anti-American and anti-free world country,” pointing to several US attempts in recent decades to reset relations with Moscow.
When asked if he was hopeful that a peace deal could be signed soon, Yatsenyuk said: “I am hopeful that Ukraine will win this war and I am hopeful that the free world can handle this and the peace will be achieved.”
NATO chief: Zelenskyy must ‘find a way’ to fix ties with Trump
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must “find a way” to restore his relationship with US counterpart Donald Trump, NATO chief Mark Rutte told the BBC on Saturday, a day after Zelenskyy and Trump clashed at the White House.Rutte said that he had told Zelenskyy: “You have to find a way, dear Volodymyr, to restore your relationship with Donald Trump and the American administration.”
The NATO chief also said that the US, Ukraine and Europe need to “stick together” in order to secure a “durable peace” in Ukraine.
German President Steinmeier criticizes Trump for Zelenskyy spat
German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier slammed US President Donald Trump following Friday’s dramatic events at the White House involving Trump, US Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.“Diplomacy fails when negotiating partners are humiliated in front of the world,” Steinmeier told the German news agency DPA on Saturday during a flight to Uruguay.
“The scene at the White House yesterday took my breath away. I would never have believed that we would ever have to defend Ukraine from the United States,” Steinmeier said.
He also stressed that Europeans “must prevent Ukraine from having to accept subjugation.”
German foreign minister says ‘new era of infamy has begun’
Germany’s outgoing Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said a “new era of infamy has begun” and that European countries must massively increase their defense spending to face the changing strategic landscape. She made the comments a day after a heated discussion at the White House between Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump in front of the world media.
Baerbock called for Germany to work closely with Poland, France and others in Europe to bolster Ukraine’s defense.
She also called on Germany to release an additional €3 billion ($3.1 billion) in aid for Ukraine.
Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck, also from Baerbock’s Green Party, made a similar appeal, calling for the speedy release of the financial aid.
“In order to secure the necessary support for Ukraine, we should now do what we can in the short term,” he said.
Russia calls Zelenskyy’s trip to US a ‘complete failure’
The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s trip to the United States had been a complete “failure.”The statement came a day after Zelenskyy engaged in a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump at the White House.
Zelenskyy’s trip “is a complete political and diplomatic failure of the Kyiv regime,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.
She added that Zelenskyy wants to continue the war and rejects peace. Russia launched the war of invasion in February 2022.
Russia also said its goals in Ukraine remained unchanged.
“Russia’s unchanging goals remain the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the recognition of the existing realities on the ground,” Zakharova said, referring to the parts of Ukraine that Russia has illegally annexed.
Zelenskyy to meet Starmer in London
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Saturday, ahead of a wider gathering of European leaders in London on Sunday.“The Prime Minister and President Zelenskyy will be meeting in Downing Street this afternoon,” a spokesperson for Starmer’s office said.
Zelenskyy arrived in the UK following a heated exchange with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House.
Zelenskyy says it’s ‘very important’ for Ukraine to be heard
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said it is very important “that Ukraine is heard and that no one forgets about it.”The comments came after he had a heated discussion with his US counterpart Donald Trump and US Vice President JD Vance at the White House on Friday.
“It is important for people in Ukraine to know that they are not alone, that their interests are represented in every country, in every corner of the world,” Zelenskyy wrote in Ukrainian on messenger app Telegram.
Separately, in a series of posts on X, he also said he was “very grateful to the United States for all the support” it has so far provided to Ukraine.
“I’m thankful to President Trump, Congress for their bipartisan support, and American people. Ukrainians have always appreciated this support, especially during these three years of full-scale invasion,” he wrote on social media platform X.
He said it was “crucial” for Ukraine to have Trump’s support.
“Our relationship with the American President is more than just two leaders: It’s a historic and solid bond between our peoples. American people helped save our people,” he said.
“We want only strong relations with America and I really hope we will have them,” he added.
How did Europe react to the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting?
Ukraine’s European allies rallied behind Volodymyr Zelenskyy after the Ukrainian president’s heated exchange with US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance on Friday evening.Germany’s outgoing Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that “Ukraine can rely on Germany and on Europe,” while the country’s likely next leader Friedrich Merz stressed that Germany will “stand with Ukraine in good and in testing times.”
“We must never confuse aggressor and victim in this terrible war,” Merz wrote on X.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told Ukrainians that they are “not alone.”
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said he had spoken to both Trump and Zelenskyy following the clash and vowed “unwavering support” for Kyiv.
The UK is also organizing a summit on Sunday where representatives from over a dozen European countries are expected to take part.
London said the meeting will focus on shoring up support for “securing a just and enduring peace” in Ukraine.
The gathering will also address the need for Europe to increase defense cooperation amid fears over whether the United States will continue to support NATO.
What happened during Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump? – recap
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his US counterpart Donald Trump openly clashed during their meeting at the White House on Friday. It began after Zelenskyy pressed Vice President JD Vance to explain what he meant by engaging in diplomacy with Russia to end the war in Ukraine.
Vance responded by telling the Ukrainian leader, “I think it’s disrespectful for you to come into the Oval Office and try to litigate this in front of the American media.”
Trump then openly berated Zelenskyy for not being “thankful,” and later accused the Ukrainian leader of “not being ready for peace” and having “disrespected” the US.
“You’re not acting at all thankful. It’s not a nice thing,” the US president said, when Zelenskyy pushed for security guarantees. “It’s going to be very hard to do business like this,” he added.
“You’re gambling with the lives of millions of people. You’re gambling with World War III, and what you’re doing is very disrespectful to the country, this country that’s backed you far more than a lot of people say they should have,” Trump said.
“You’re either going to make a deal, or we’re out, and if we’re out, you’ll fight it out. I don’t think it’s going to be pretty,” Trump added.
After the heated exchange in the Oval Office, Trump broke off talks with Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian leader left the White House without signing a critical minerals deal that had been negotiated by the two sides in recent days.

Mogadishu, Somalia – Somalia’s parliament descended into unprecedented disorder on Saturday as lawmakers traded explosive accusations of assassination attempts, tribal slurs, and unlawful travel restrictions, laying bare deep-seated divisions and a profound breakdown in legislative decorum.
The session at Villa Hargeysa in Mogadishu abandoned any semblance of formal debate, instead erupting into a maelstrom of personal attacks and grave allegations.
The parliamentary gathering, lacking a pre-determined agenda, quickly morphed into a scene of raucous shouting and pandemonium. MPs strayed far from structured debate, resorting to personal insults and serious criminal accusations.
“Yesterday’s events were unplanned and devoid of a formal agenda,” a source explained. “Lawmakers crossed the line of reasoned discourse, engaging in insults, accusations, and self-proclaimed judgments of criminal acts.”
Sharp critiques arose concerning Speaker Adan Madoobe’s leadership, with numerous MPs questioning his capacity to maintain order. The session ultimately dissolved into a cacophony of shouts and uproar.
Tribalism fuels volatile debates
At the heart of the turmoil was a motion to lift flight restrictions imposed on the Jubaland regional administration.
Lawmakers also demanded the appearance of security agencies responsible for enforcing the travel ban. Grievances were voiced regarding the obstruction of MPs attempting to travel to Kismayo, the administrative capital of Jubaland.
The session’s opening rapidly devolved into a forum for bitter disputes and vocal opposition. Anti-government MPs unleashed a barrage of accusations against the federal government. While their right to debate was acknowledged, the discourse swiftly deteriorated into personal vitriol and offensive language.
The unusually intense parliamentary debate was further inflamed by MPs’ tendency to frame their arguments along regional and clan lines. This underscored a stark absence of national perspective in the discussions.
A particularly contentious moment arose from a statement by MP Hassan Abdi Ismail (Yare), who referred to MPs from Somaliland as “displaced persons.”
This remark triggered widespread outrage. However, some observers noted that Ismail’s statement implicitly challenged the viability of a “one person, one vote” electoral system. Somaliland, a northern region of Somalia, declared unilateral independence in 1991.
Accusations of assassination plots
The parliamentary session was punctuated by a series of alarming accusations, including allegations of attempted assassinations. An MP from Jubaland, specifically from the Gedo region, accused the Minister of Security of orchestrating his assassination on more than ten occasions.
The MP alleged that Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, who shares a regional background, had jeopardized his life. This accusation carries significant weight, as the Minister of National Security is responsible for safeguarding public safety.
The gravity of the accusation was amplified by its delivery by a sitting MP enjoying parliamentary immunity.
Legal experts consulted regarding the accusations asserted that the claims could not be dismissed as mere political rhetoric. They emphasized the imperative of an independent judicial investigation to ascertain the truth.
This incident is not isolated. Disputes and allegations have previously marred Somalia’s parliamentary proceedings. For instance, in April 2021, the lower house voted to extend the president’s term by two years, a move rejected by the Senate, leading to a political standoff.
Additionally, in March 2024, Puntland state declared self-governance, withdrawing from the federal system until constitutional amendments were ratified through a nationwide referendum.

Mogadishu, Somalia – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed arrived in Mogadishu on Thursday for an official visit to meet with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The visit follows President Mohamud’s unexpected trip to Addis Ababa last month and signals a potential thaw in diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The talks come in the wake of the December 2024 Ankara Declaration, which ended a year-long political standoff triggered by Ethiopia’s controversial memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Somaliland.
Many analysts view Abiy’s visit as a critical step toward restoring diplomatic ties between Somalia and Ethiopia, which have remained strained since January 2024.
“We held in-depth discussions on key issues, including peace and security, economic cooperation, diplomacy, and joint infrastructure development. The Horn of Africa is rich in natural resources—fertile land, clean water, and a vast labor force. However, achieving economic self-sufficiency remains challenging,” Abiy stated in a social media post.
“This makes regional integration essential to realizing our shared aspirations. Our region has immense potential that can only be fully harnessed through cooperation. We cannot develop in isolation, but together, we can thrive. A regional approach and collaboration are imperative, and we are ready to work with Somalia to turn this vision into reality.”
The visit marks a tangible step toward implementing the Ankara Agreement and signals Ethiopia’s gradual retreat from its contentious MoU with Somaliland. This shift aligns with the stance of Somaliland’s newly elected leadership, which has shown little interest in implementing the agreement.
Meanwhile, Somalia has reversed its opposition to Ethiopia’s participation in the African Union’s peacekeeping mission in Somalia.
This week, it was announced that Ethiopian troops would officially join the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), which was launched last month.
Major diplomatic realignment in the region
Political analysts see these developments as part of a broader realignment in the Horn of Africa’s diplomatic landscape, particularly following the collapse of the Somalia-Eritrea-Egypt alliance.
According to experts, the formation and dissolution of political alliances in the Horn of Africa are recurring patterns.
“Interstate relations in the Horn have always been fluid—sometimes allies, sometimes rivals. The only relatively stable relationship has been between Ethiopia and Kenya. Similarly, Ethiopia’s ties with Djibouti and South Sudan have remained steady. However, Ethiopia’s relationships with Sudan, Eritrea, and Somalia have fluctuated over time,” said Dr. Constantinos Berhutesfa, a former African Union official and regional analyst.
He argues that the rapprochement between Mogadishu and Addis Ababa stems from the Ankara Agreement and Somaliland’s ambiguous stance on the MoU.
Somaliland’s new president, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), previously announced that his administration would review the agreement. This has allowed Ethiopia to quietly distance itself from the deal, which escalated regional tensions last year.
Additionally, this diplomatic shift weakens Egypt’s strategy of isolating Ethiopia through Sudan and its military engagement in Somalia.
Ethiopia-Eritrea tensions looming
Despite Ethiopia’s warming ties with Somalia, regional analysts warn that deteriorating relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea could fuel new tensions. Since Ethiopia reestablished ties with Somalia, concerns have grown that Eritrea may feel sidelined.
“The Ethiopia-Somalia rapprochement is a positive development, but Eritrea might see it as a setback. Before this new understanding, Somalia was part of a tripartite alliance with Egypt and Eritrea, signed in October 2024. Now, Somalia is aligning with Ethiopia, effectively dismantling the Asmara Agreement,” said Constantinos.
He added, “The key question now is: Can Somalia maintain stability? Given their previous efforts to isolate Ethiopia, how will Egypt and Eritrea react? Will they provide support to Al-Shabaab? Will they actively work to destabilize Somalia?”
Recently, the United States conducted airstrikes targeting Al-Shabaab bases in Somalia, underscoring Washington’s continued involvement in regional security affairs.
Ethiopia’s diplomatic rebuilding efforts
Despite its rapprochement with Somalia, Ethiopia still faces diplomatic challenges, including ongoing tensions with Egypt over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and persistent security concerns. The fallout from the Somaliland MoU significantly damaged Ethiopia’s international standing.
Constantinos suggested that Ethiopia take the lead in organizing an international conference focused on regional peace and security.
“With the new African Union chairperson hailing from the Horn of Africa, he could facilitate such a summit. Ethiopia must prioritize convening a high-level peace and security conference. This could lay the groundwork for stronger regional integration,” he said.
He also noted that Kenya is positioning itself to fill Ethiopia’s traditional role in regional stabilization, as evidenced by its recent peacekeeping operations along its border with Ethiopia.
“This should be Ethiopia’s role,” Constantinos asserted, highlighting that Addis Ababa is home to the African Union (AU), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), and over 120 embassies and international organizations—making it the continent’s diplomatic hub.
“It is time for Ethiopia to reclaim its leadership role in the region,” he concluded, emphasizing that a well-organized international summit could help rebuild Ethiopia’s global standing while addressing the region’s pressing security challenges.
