  2. kid is straight gangstaerismmmmm
  3. Salaams, Waryaadha, MMA xaagoo kaadacey? Did he get hitched? Is he stuck in Nairobi?
  4. I didn't catch the point walaaal. Is this another anti-shabaaaab post?
  5. I was listening to a radio show the other night and briefly came on the issue of racism and what makes it unacceptable or acceptable. If I don't believe in God and/or don't believe in the idea of morality because it is associated with religion, then how can i argue for against racism? why can't it be acceptable?
  6. the closest system to perfection is system that guarantees individuals the right to be themselves, worship who or what they worship, think what they want, say what they want and carry on their lives however they wish as long as it does not disturb or intrude on the rights of other citizens. Ahhhh, the call of Rossou and the french revolution - the Liberal, Secular Democratic state. Utopiaaaaaa!!! Ofcourse, ALL THINGS must be EQUAL in Utopia and my way idea is not better than you idea, it just my idea. Equality on all levels. We can drive on the highway with the same car, with the same family, at the same time - as long as it doesn't intrude on other people's rights. But what if I want a different car? a different family? a faster car so that I can a true individual? No two things are equal and therefor, the nature of the world necessities hierarchy. One thing must be better than the other (that is what our intelligence does - it differentiates, it grades and ranks people, objects, ideas stc.). What you are ignoring is human nature and intelligence? Dumbing down everything for mass consumption...but ofcourse, how else can you drum up people to vouch for an idea.
  7. Agree with Castro, he should be sacked to give him the above mentioned opportunities. Why not some advise and provide him some accommodation? In the seerah, there were many times the sahaba/companions, interpreted something literally and did it, out of sincere belief and taqwa. The Rasul (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) didn't scold them for their sincerity and naivety but rather gave them advise. Inshallah, the brother will get the barakah, if his intentions are inline with his actions and inshallah, he will gain some wisdom and perpective out of this incident.
  8. Originally posted by Castro: quote:Originally posted by The Zack: ^worst they can do to him is fire him from his bus driving job, he will definitely find a better job ASAP. Completely unnecessary theatrics. He should be fired ASAP. He will then have plenty of opportunity to make all his prayers on time. Why are you always so cynical and angry? Don't you get enough sunshine in your area saxib.
  9. Layzie G, to justify the legitimacy of prostitution as a contingent necessity resulting from poverty is a slippery slope. Poverty and Wealth are not the ulimate poles in life (poverty being the negative pole and becoming wealthy being the postive pole). That is the capitalist driven model which if taken, has no boundaries except social taboos. The later being changed by each generation (i.e. what was unacceptable 20yrs ago, is acceptable today). Layie G., By your rationale, it would be acceptable and justifiable to steal for food, to cheat for shelter etc...
  10. Inaa lillah wa ilahye raajicuun Sabir iyo imaan saxib.
  11. I see that some you are nonchalant about the idea of death. Running water, heat, food all year round.

    Fitness Freaks

Meal 1 1 cup milk-60g Whey 2 packs flavoured oats thats too much to eat. 60g of whey will fill you up easily. You won't have room for oatmeal after that. This is a Sumo wrestler diet, saxib. I've taken to only drinking a protein shake this past week. My body is adjusting to eat and so far, so good. I started eating sardines the other day. Super food and really cheap. Just make sure you eat it spicy, to get rid of the fish smell and slimy feeling. Stoic, how do you run 2 miles and still have energy to do bench? Anyways, saxib best of luck with school.
  13. Sheerbeen, and why was this news worthy enough to post on SOL? Let me see the catch phrases here: - Turkish aka muslim - Honor Killing - Beaten for having relations with the opposite sex. hmmm, what are some other catch phrases in this article, that perpetuate the ever on going anti-islam biase?
  14. ^^^^ JB, Plesase delete the above post. It is a sign of childishness.

I wonder about that too. It's like the chicken and the egg problem... does the PhD lead to being an ***? Or is it mostly ***es that go for the PhD? I don't know if you anyone that has a PH.D or applied for a PH.D. In order to get your Doctorate (PH.D) you need to have your Thesis approved and it is often reviewed and judged by a Panel of professors (whom are considered as experts in the subject area). They are akin to your academic peers. If they don't agree with your thesis then it does not get approved and you get another crack at it. The point here is that it is approved by "academic peers" aka professors whose mind site and values the 'doctorial canaddate' must possess and eschew and through demonstrate in their thesis. It is a weeding process to get into the academic circles. You have to conform to their norms to obtain the coveted title of PH.D..
  16. Originally posted by Valenteenah.: Isn't it also well known that historians are historically very deceptive? Prof Samatar's speech induces severe lalabo. and to add to it: The "his-tory" has always bene one sided. History has been dictated and written by the "victors". As Ceciro put it, history is indeed revised aka redited - by the victors. It is written from a particular worldview, a particular psychology. The idea that an archeologist can't find the arc of noah or a scientist can't calculate how the prophet (salallahu caliyhe wasilm) went to the heavens is irrevelant to the muslim personality. His-story writers championing modernity and imperialistic ideas i.e. all must think rationally, all must be dominated by liberal democractic ideals, will not be able to comprehend the muslim pyschi. Namely because the []i His-storians[/i] are myopic (centered on their own worldview and are busy championing their own version of how the world became and ought to be. The truths and wisdoms in the fables and legends in religion are far greater then having them caculated for mathematical accuracy.
  17. A very entertaining movie that is unpredictible. It reminds me of clockers, a chess game where the poor dude outsmarts them all. What I don't get is - What is his purpose at the end? Is it to get out alive? To be "Cesar"? To be a Muslim? This movice has been nominated for an oscar.
  18. I'm just an observer, what I believe need not matter. aha....yet you started this thread and what we write, espouse and propagate are often a reflection of our thoughts. So please, do share your thoughts on what you think of the devil? Do you think that the Devil exist?
  19. Lucifer, Beelzebub, The Beast, Satan, Shaitan and Bush and the Internet.... Ailmos, do you believe in the devil? and if yes or no or i don't know - why?
  20. ^^^^ Sadley enough, you lack any ability to discern between "corporal" punishment aka hudud and shariah. Shariah is not what is advertised on Channel 4, Skynews, Fox and CNN. Shariah covers all aspects of the muslim life from what to do when a baby is born .....to how to how to treat your neighbour...to tort law....
  21. I say a dual system I mean only the judicial system, and not law enforcement. A very limited "dual" system.
  22. The accommodation of religious courts in some Western countries may give one the illusion of dual law possibility but that is not the truth. The religious courts you find in Britain are similar to the Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) that is widely used in business and civil cases. But make no mistake, Secular Law is still law of the land and has the final say. Criminal law is delimited by secular law and ADRs have no jurisdiction over it. So there is one obvious problem there. Who gets to write the Criminal Act of the country? In Britain, it is the parliament. The idea of a two "equal" parallel systems is an oxymoron. When ADR is being offered to those seeking resolution of civil law issues through their own particular civil regilious laws and their is a personal conflict, a disagreement with the arbitrators decision or a direct conflict to secular norms and laws, then the latter triumps the former. The Enlightenment has convinced Europeans that dogma was NOT a virtue. And from that paradigm shift was born liberal democracy. Which of itself is a dogma - liberal democracy that is and most are, dare i say - fantatical about the entire world's populations adhering to their liberal demo values. Another obvious problem would be the Zhimmi institution in Islamic law. Muslims would rightly ask what's the need for a new parallel system when Islam already has a parallel system - one for Muslims and one for non-Muslims provided you are a member of "people of the book" and willing to abide by discriminatory laws, otherwise you'll be put to death . This explains your 'objective' analysis of religion and islam - particular.
  23. Max where are you - Hotel California - u checkin in again?
  24. "From Osama to Obama...." what a joke! How do you make a statement about a failed attempted? That is dumb move, like pinky and the brain, like scooby doo and shaggy. Its like saying to someone "oh I planned steal your shop but was caught by the police" I guess it is for the masses to swallow and most yankees are dumb azzez.
  25. ok, who complained about Maximus Power's thread about his msn chat with the other member? Somebody has power because the Admin. right away responded and deleted that thread as well as making a new rule in SOL.
