Those seeds of political disconnect in Gedo go back to Etihad period, a long drawn-out internal conflict that pinned in-laws against one another, a father against son, and on a notorious single day mayhem in 1996 - a day in which over 232 lost their lives between those backed by Ethiopia and those who were fighting for Etihad. Yes sadly this is true - Today late in the afternoon in Baardheere time one man and two of his boys were hit by kenyan air missile killing the man and injuring this boys. Another suspected target was the main bridge that connects the city, lucky the missile missed and hit the edge of the bridge. This was the third such strike in Gedo in recent days. These air strikes started last week when two nomadic camel herders where hit killing them both. Few days later it was the town of Ceel Cade, killing 2 additional civilians and injuring 13. This is indeed not a campaign to root out Al-shabaab nor it’s a collateral damage of air assault intended for extremist group. It’s part of new direct onslaught of indiscriminate targeting civilian strategy in Gedo by Kenyan air force and US Drones. How else can you explain this when Kenya's incursion into Somalia is now well into its second month. And its most important front the road to Kismaayo has became a stalemate, first their 2000 invading force was hampered by the first hint of moisture and rain, their trucks and other equipment stuck in the mud.
