  1. Taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent is what he arrested me for.
  2. Stratford Station whilst showing Cadaan how to get to Greenwich, queuing up for a ticket etc I parked on double yellows (as you do). When I came out a coach was stuck due to my parking which was at an angle (so did 3 other vehicles but had all disappeared by then) and London’s finest was busy writing me a ticket. I ran toward and was quickly told in no uncertain terms to move the car and step back out for a ‘chat’. I obliged. He gave me the old garbage which I really wasn’t in the mood for but nevertheless I did not want a ticket so tried to put on the usual charms. It didn’t work LoL. After checking my name against the data base (he didn’t get anything apart from previous driving offences LoL) he started to question me about the car, where it was hired from etc etc and decided to call the hire company. At this point I told him the car was due back the previous day. I didn’t call to extend by a day and was intending to take it back that same night. Anyway, hire companies just take an extra day off your credit card or so I thought. Once he spoke to the hire company and found out it was a day late he put the phone down, told me to turn around and put my hands behind my back, the handcuffs came out and he read me my rights! I was under arrest and I couldn’t quite believe it. I was raging at this point and started calling him an unreasonable copper. This got to him for some reason and started talking about how difficult I have been and all that. Any after I suggested to speak to the hire company, whose employees I knew personally, he obliged and called them back. They said it was OK and would take it out of my credit card and that I should return the car before 5pm to their Euston office. I was de-arrested and went on my merry to the casumaad I was invited to at 2pm. The things I do for my friends!
  3. No headache today JB? No lafo xanuun?
  4. ^^Somalis are everywhere today. There was a time when you would know about a wedding, where it was going to be and who was getting married. People would actually go there even though they didn’t know the couple and that was considered a good thing as we were all Somalis. Today things are different.

It had been an hour already and as I was running to the greeting/welcome area, I checked my phone and found two missed 'private calls'. 14. Bahrain World Trade Center leads the way in environmental architecture. The Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC) made history today as its pioneering wind turbines turned together for the first time. The three 29m-diameter turbine blades on Bahrain's iconic landmark are the world's first to be integrated into a commercial development, and are forecast to provide the equivalent of 11-15% of the power for the two towers when fully operational. The successful installation of the turbines involved collaboration between Atkins Architects and Engineers and Norwin turbine specialists, who were in Bahrain for the inaugural turning and presentation to media. As well as the twin office towers the BWTC incorporates a high end boutique shopping centre, MODA Mall, along with a five-star Sheraton Hotel. Mr. Ole Sangill, Managing Partner of turbine specialists Norwin who have been involved with the project from conception, was present throughout the installation process and at the inauguration, and commented: "This was of course a first for Norwin as it was for the real estate world, and we truly have pushed the boundaries of environmental architecture with this project. It is a testament to Bahrain that private developers are investing in sustainability and pioneering design, which is certainly the future of architecture as it shapes the planet in years to come." Speaking at the event, Mr. Simha LytheRao Atkins Project Manager explained that the use of established technologies, including type-tested turbines with minimal modifications ensured that the additional cost incurred by incorporating turbines into the project was reduced to around 3.5% of the overall project value, making it not only an environmentally responsible but also a financially viable venture. He also explained how the elliptical shaped towers act as aerofoils, funneling and accelerating the wind velocity between them, and exploiting the unobstructed prevailing onshore breeze from the adjacent Gulf coast to provide a renewable source of energy for the building. The incorporation of large-scale turbines onto a building is a world first. During the proceeding months the turbines will therefore undergo detailed analysis and optimization by Norwin to determine their actual electricity generation potential. The turbines are expected to operate approximately 50% of the time. The project has also been the recipient of international acclaim for its commitment to sustainable development, being awarded LEAF Awards 2006 for ‘Best Use of Technology within a Large Scheme' and recently the Arab Construction World ‘Sustainable Design Award'. These accolades recognise the achievements of developments whose raison d'être is environmental protection and improvement, and provide public recognition for the individuals and companies who have attained the highest standards within the design and construction industry. Notes and contacts About Bahrain World Trade Center Situated on the Manama waterfront and in the heart of the region's leading financial and business hub, the Bahrain World Trade Center (BWTC) project comprises the two 50-storey sail shaped twin office towers, the five-star Sheraton Hotel as well as MODA Mall, Bahrain's only ultra high-end shopping destination, featuring some 160 luxury retail outlets as well as a host of modern cafes and exciting fine dining eateries. The BWTC provides leading regional and international organizations with a world-class business address. The buildings are highly advanced in design and operation and are the Kingdom's first intelligent offices, employing the latest SMART systems capable of delivering unsurpassed security and maximum competitive advantages and efficiency in office management. In addition, they are the first of their kind in the world, using wind energy to provide 11 - 15% of the electricity needs of the office towers. Other benefits enjoyed by local and international businesses occupying space at the development is membership to the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA). Locating at the BWTC offers an exceptional opportunity for connectivity with the global business community. With more than 300 centers in 100 countries, WTCA has a membership of approximately 750,000 commercial enterprises worldwide. http://www.arabianbusiness.com/press_releases/detail/15894?ln=en

Ibti, regular exercise and stretching does the trick. Stop sitting around dear. I have always had a back problem (growing pains when you shoot up 2 ft in 3 years) coupled with a nerve problem on my left thigh. My legs hurt when I don’t exercise for a few weeks. Went out for a run 2 nights ago and now feel fit as a fiddle. Intend to do the same tonight IA.

  19. Well-known Egyptian preacher, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, has put forward a simple answer to Egypt's productivity problem -- pray less, work more. "Praying is a good thing ... 10 minutes should be enough," Qaradawi said in a religious edict, or fatwa, published on his website. The fatwa is aimed at removing prayer as a pretext for not producing. According to an official study, Egypt's six million government employees spend an average of only 27 minutes per day actually working, reflecting a real problem with productivity. Problem Praying five times a day is one of the five pillars of Islam, along with making a pilgrimage to Mecca and giving alms to the poor. Two of each day's five sessions -- the dhuhr (noon) prayer and asr (afternoon) prayer -- fall within working hours, bringing work to a standstill at least twice a day in many places. A prayer generally takes an average of 10 minutes, but it can be extended if a worshipper chooses to recite one of the longer verses of the Quran. And before the prayers themselves, there is also a mandatory ablution during which worshippers must wash their faces, hands and arms, feet and heads. In large office buildings, trips to the bathroom can also eat away at valuable work time. In every large company, factory or public building, there is a formal prayer space. Individual prayer rugs, slumped over the backs of chairs or folded neatly on a desk, are often at hand in public offices, ready to be used once the call to prayer booms out over the public address system. Solution Qaradawi offered a few ideas to help shorten the prayer time: Muslims can do the mandatory pre-prayer wash at home before reaching the office, instead of in the office toilets during working hours. "To save some time, they can also just put some water over their socks, instead of taking (socks) off to wash the feet," Qaradawi says in his fatwa. While it may be too early to judge the effects of the popular sheikh's fatwa on productivity in the work place, Egyptian clerics, in a rare show of unity, have largely agreed with the Qatar-based cleric. "He's right. I cannot say the contrary. One must not waste time at work and use prayer as the pretext," Sheikh Fawzi al-Zifzaf, of the center of Islamic studies at Al-Azhar, Sunni Islam's main seat of learning, told AFP. As for Mohammed al-Shahhat al-Gendi, secretary general of the Council of Supreme Islamic affairs, "10 minutes are absolutely suitable for one prayer." "Improving productivity is not at all contrary to Islam," he told AFP. Religious beliefs in Egypt are overt, from the headscarf covering the majority of women's heads to the bruise on many a man's forehead showing how piously and how often he has touched his head to the ground in prostration. http://www.alarabiya.net/articles/2008/06/05/51009.html
