The shot would have come out better with my SLR but I didn't bother to stop. Thats a good shot. I usually miss good shots due not having the camera with me (I would have to stop as I don't want to take a pic while driving in the UAE heh). JB, waa inoo wiiga dambe IA. Summertime

What has been striking on this thread are the protestations on the mere fact that some are questioning the man’s achievements. Granted one hasn’t been keeping abreast of developments of late however the, as Oodweyne aptly put it, ‘scraping at the barrel’ comments are little surprising from seemingly intelligent folk. This is a forum for discussion ladies and gents. Do take part (without the innuendos). I suppose achievement is relative and depends on one’s perception of what Somalia needed during Famaajo’s tenure. I personally believe his time was too short for him to make any real tangible in roads into the quagmire that is South Somalia/TFG/AMISOM/UN. Helping to accelerate the securing of greater parts of the capital, getting AS on the back foot and getting support from the populace in the 6 months or so he was there should be enough to give the man the of the doubt at least. Whether he wasn’t astute enough in his dealings is another argument.

@bahasha barta Kudos to him. Sounds like he ruffled a few feathers and got on the wrong side of some influencial aid industry people trying to get back what is rightfully Somalia's. But was he too ambitious too soon? Should he have used more guile? I think the man was just too honest for his own good.

Now why didn’t you provide the above facts without sinking to ‘you’re not from around here so can’t comment’ statements. One senses you thought this was an attack on a certain tribe instead of a question that needed answering. Don’t lose sleep about my comment on islaamo protesting (I saw it on the news).

The way some of us react to our brothers' inquiry of the TFG is unhealthy and we are unknowingly giving "Somaliland" the recognition it so fights to secure . Funny they actually don't realise that.....

Farmaajo’s Shortcomings: 1- Lack of keen appreciation of the extent of foreign meddling in Somali affairs 2- Failed to understand that Somalia in the current political framework has no leverage on the table (ma ku dhuusaysaa Mahiga and the co? The only alternative when faced such humiliation is to join alshabaab, maaha?) 3- Failed to devise any meaningful reconciliation platform where Somalis could sort this mess out Now, all his shortcomings are understandable in the context of current trusteeship Somalia is technically in. What is not understandable is all the protestations from supposedly educated folks in the cabinet! I for one would like to see another humiliation for the Sharifs, the next PM, and regional leaders so Somalis can be made to understand the value of sovereignty they so recklessly surrendered. It must be noted though Farmaajo and the majority of his team has just arrived the scene and cannot be blamed the chronic political situation they have been operating in. They could not be excused for not understanding the rules of the game; the relationship between real political stakeholders whose soldiers are dying in the field, and the political operatives either appointed or selected by unaccountable parliament who face the predicament such an arrangement poses. Here we go! So its fair to say Farmaajo's resignation stems from not having enough of an understanding of the Somalia political sphere and/or under estimating the influence of outside parties interested in maintaining yes men at the helm.

Unity is worthless if in name only....... I have concluded Somalis are too politicised with too many interest groups looking for power (20+ years of no state does that to you) and dare I say it lack the maturity required for unity.

Gabbal;729792 wrote: He didn't ask a simple or even an honest question. That you are the only person in this topic to give him credibility should give you a pause. Also, you are right in the difference of euphoria. People were ecstatic when Sheikh Sharif was elected whereas for Farmaajo it was when he was asked to resign. In your less then intelligent attempt at a political jab you have failed to see people were moved by what Sheikh Sharif could have represented whereas for Farmaajo it was what he represented. Euphoria after accomplishment is the substantive euphoria, not the euphoria based on expectation . What your Siilaanyo spokesman friend Ngonge here, opining from his private quarters somewhere in London, can never fully see is the story in Mogadishu streets: ^and thus why both you and him will fail to comprehend why those "islaamo" took to the streets. Touche, but why spit the dummy out? You fail to answer the question yet continue to shrowd it in 'the poster is being disingenous' because he represents SL and lives in London (whilst you're shouting from even further afar) but continue to tell us he DID have some accomplishments but, for some reason, can't expand on them. You have arrived at a host of conclusions about the poster just because a) he asked the question b) is from SL c) lives in London but then go on and tell us there actually were some accomplishments. Very worked up. Tolow waayo?

^ the man asked a simple question. Ama ka jawaab ama acknowledge Farmaajo didn't actually do much. Even I wondered what he acheived when I saw islaamo coming out supporting him. Ngonge, there was euphoria when Sheikh Sharif was elected. In Farmaajo's case the euphoria occured when he was asked to resign

I have no idea what Farmaajo achieved but gaining broad support from many Somalis isn't easy so he must have done something or at least said the right words at the rights times. My Somali politics these days isn't up to much.....
