Haseena sis: Here is one A Stranger is not he who is repatriated to Sham ( Syria-Lebanon-Jordan-Palestine, Damascus), or Yemen. Verily, A stranger is he who is laid to rest inside a grave wrapped in a shroud. A stranger has a right for bearing the hardship of being an expatriate, he deserves compassion by those blessed to reside comfortably at their home countries. Do not yell in dsirespect at a stranger's face, its the tough times in his exile that will do him the humiliation and tribulations. I am in a long journey, and my little ration is not enough to deliver me, I am feeble, and death is out looking for my soul. Translation, Courtesy of eNuri Transemantics Nur

Reality Check You Write: I cant answer these questions for you, Nur. All I asked you to do is back up statements you have made. My Dear Sister. You are ellusive by dodging to admit that the Sunnah is important, Because if you admit, the natural question would be, how to enforce it, then you'd logically answer your own question. But clearly you dont want to for some reason benknown only to Allah. The second point that you've also cleaverly avoided to answer was that the verse clearly threatened those who OPPOSE or fail to follow the Prophets Sunnah with( FITNAH,) Because if you admit and agree to this clear fact in Quraan, which everyone with a simple understanding of the English Language can easily see, then , your question would have been, " what is FITNAH? " the answer of which I was planning to explain its far reaching meaning that includes KUFR as a result, hence proving to you that IT CAN LEAD TO KUFR, but you dont have to take my word for it my dear sister in Islam, Take Allah's words for it which you have categorically requested, and nothing but the Quraan. FITNAH in Quraan depending in the context its revealed can mean: 1. Test. ( After which a person proves his/her faith or becomes kaafir(a) 2. Loss of faith ( Like the case of the learned and follower of Children of Isreal) 3. Temptation ( Wealth, and the opposite sex). In the Surah al Nur, the meaning of this serious threat ( Painful Punishment) is that if any person ignores, or opposes, or is in contempt of the teachings, ways, directives of the Messenger of Allah, then its tantamount to a disrespect to Allah SWT, since the Prophet SAWS is representing Allah as His Messeneger. To support my point here are a host of verses, let see if you accept them. I am quoting them by order of relevance. 1. Nisaa 115: Allah says: And whoso OPPOSESES the messenger after the guidance (of Allah) hath been manifested unto him, and followeth other than the believer's way, We appoint for him that unto which he himself hath turned, and expose him unto hell - a hapless journey's end! 2. Nisaa 65: Allah says: But nay, by thy Lord, they will not believe (in truth) until they make thee judge of what is in dispute between them and find within themselves no dislike of that which thou decidest, and submit with full submission. 3. AHZAAB 36: Allah says: And it becometh not a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His messenger have decided an affair (for them), that they should (after that) claim any say in their affair; and whoso is rebellious to Allah and His messenger, he verily goeth astray in error manifest. 4. Nisaa 14: Allah says: And whoso disobeyeth Allah and His messenger and transgresseth His limits, He will make him enter Fire, where he will dwell for ever; his will be a shameful doom. I have intentionally left the verses without tafseer ( Explanation), hoping that you'd do it for an exercise. Nur

Reality Check Nope! yaa ukhtii al ghaalya,, we are not going in circles, and you are not not known to be a quitter, remember this is a discussion forum and we are all learning, including passive viewers, so be patient, patience is needed for learning. Now let us map the landscape of where we agree on, and where we differ to bridge the gap: 1. We agree that the Sunnah is important ( we differ on the gravity of ignoring it) (Yes / NO) 2. We agree ( Accodring to the above verse) that anyone who does not follow the Prophet's teachings are threatened by Allah with FITNAH or PAINFUL PUNISHMENT. ( We Differ on the meaning of FITNAH ( If it includes KUFR) , and if Allah adminsisters PAINFUL Punishment ( CADAABUN ALIIM )) when a person does not commit a GRAVE SIN . ( YES / NO) Pleas confirm that we agree on these statememts, FIRST, ( Yes or NO) , so that we can proceed in our learning journey. Nur

Perfect storm brewing in Horn of Africa By GWYNNE DYER 08/02/06 "Japan Times " -- -- LONDON -- It has the makings of a perfect storm extending right across the Horn of Africa. The 15-year war of all against all in Somalia is threatening to morph into an international war bringing chaos and disaster to the rest of the region, and the al-Qaida-obsessed "securocrats" in Washington are the ones to blame. The Somalis have nobody to blame but themselves for their basic plight. Although Somalia has only one ethnic group, one language and one religion, its people are deeply divided by clan, and when long-ruling dictator Mohamed Siad Barre was overthrown in 1991, the clan leaders were unable to unite and form a new government. Instead, the country fell into civil war and anarchy. A U.S.-led military intervention in 1992 tried to restore order, but after 18 American soldiers and a thousand Somalis were killed in a single day (the "Black Hawk Down" episode), U.S. forces pulled out. By 1995 all the other United Nations troops had followed, and Somalia was abandoned to its fate as a real-life version of the Mad Max films: no government, no police, no schools, no law, just the trigger-happy troops of rival warlords roaring around in "technicals," pickups mounted with machine guns or anti-aircraft cannon, stealing and killing to their heart's content. But U.S. interest in Somalia reignited after the terrorist attacks of 2001, because as a Muslim country without a government it seemed a potential haven for Islamist terrorists. At first American policy concentrated on re-creating a national government, and by 2004 a transitional regime blessed by the United Nations and the African Union and led by one of the warlords, Abdulahi Yusuf, was installed in the town of Baidoa. But he was not in the capital, Mogadishu, because the three warlords who ruled that city rejected his authority. So did most other Somalis. Meanwhile, a different kind of authority was emerging in Mogadishu: the Islamic courts. It was an attempt, paid for by local businessmen, to restore order by using religious law to settle disputes and punish criminals. Each clan's court has jurisdiction only over its own clan members, but it was a start on rebuilding a law-abiding society, and in 2004 they all joined to form the Union of Islamic Courts. Unfortunately, the mere use of the word "Islamic" spooked the U.S. government. As usual, Washington's response was mainly military. It decided that the Union of Islamic Courts was a threat, and in February CIA planes delivered large amounts of money and guns to the three warlords who dominated Mogadishu. They named themselves the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter-Terrorism, and started trying to suppress the UIC. Rarely has any CIA plot backfired so comprehensively. Volunteers flooded in from all over southern Somalia to resist the warlords' attack on the only institution that showed any promise of restoring law and order in the country. By early June the last of the warlords had been driven out of Mogadishu, which is now entirely in the hands of the UIC, and for the first time in 15 years ordinary citizens are safe from robbery, rape and murder. It is by no means clear that the UIC must fall into the hands of Islamist radicals who will turn Somalia into a safe haven for anti-American terrorists. Left to their own devices, the moderate majority of Somalis can probably ensure that what finally emerges is a moderate Islamic government with strong popular support. But Washington panicked, and last week it let Ethiopia send troops in to protect the isolated "Interim Government" in Baidoa. That probably means renewed war, and across borders this time. Ethiopia has five times as many people as Somalia and has already fought two border wars with it, in 1964 and 1977. (Somalia claims most of Ethiopia's Fifth region, where the people are mostly Muslim and ethnically Somali.) But now it's more complex: Ethiopia is a largely Christian country with big and restive Muslim minorities, and President Meles Zenawi is terrified that militant Islamists in power in Somalia might help those minorities to rebel, but this would not be happening without Washington's consent. It is exactly the wrong response. On June 10, Abdulahi Yusuf's unelected "parliament" in Baidoa voted to seek foreign troops. On June 20 the first Ethiopian troops were spotted in Baidoa -- and on the same day Sheik Mukhtar Robow, the UIC's deputy head of security, declared: "God willing, we will remove the Ethiopians in our country and wage a jihad against them." Just when Somalia was about to escape from its long nightmare, a new and worse one has appeared: the prospect of a war that would consume the entire Horn of Africa (for Eritrea, teetering on the brink of another war with Ethiopia itself, is already sending aid to the UIC). The entire Horn of Africa could spend the next five years going through a catastrophe similar to what the Great Lakes region of Africa suffered in the later 1990s. Sometimes you really wish that the State Department, rather than the Pentagon and the White House, ran American foreign policy. Reality Check sis. Thanks for keeping this thread alive in my absence,( i.e Khalaf, Naden and others) I was too busy to log on SOL, after reading all the discussions, I felt that my absence was beneficial, so many valuable thoughts were indeed exchanged. Now, lets get back to business, you are focused on GRAVE SIN, and you want solid proof, that sheds LIGHT ( Nur) on this claim of mine, and you prefer it to be from Quraan. Ready? You asked for it, here it is in a nutshel. Allah SWT says in Surah Al Nur, verse 63. Make not the calling of the Messenger (Muhammad ) among you as your calling of one another. Allah knows those of you who slip away under shelter (of some excuse without taking the permission to leave, from the Messenger ) . And let those who oppose the Messenger's (Muhammad ) commandment (i.e. his Sunnah legal ways, orders, acts of worship, statements, etc.) (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitnah (disbelief, trials, afflictions, earthquakes, killing, overpowered by a tyrant, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them As you can read, not following the Sunnah is a GRAVE SIN, because it has GRAVE CONSEQUENCES, first of which is KUFR ( DISBELIEF), Only a GRAVE SIN has such a consequence. Nur

Reality Check Writes : "Now you said not following sahiih hadith is a GRAVE sin and leads to Kufar. List your sources." To be precise, this is what I wrote: A Hadeeth of this category enjoys the highest credibility, it is used in the Sharia as an augmentation of the explanation of the Quraan. Denial of a Hadeeth in this category is a grave sin and it can lead to Kufr. InshAllah sis, I will list the sources to support my above statment as I wrote it, not as you have misquoted me on two counts at least, always at your service! Two Observations: 1. Your Quote : "NOT FOLLOWING " is different than My actual words " DENIAL OF A HADEETH IN THIS CATEGORY" 2. Your Quote "LEADS TO KUFAR is different than My actual words on this page that read : " IT CAN LEAD TO KUFR" Please read the text carefully before asking a question, a good question is half the answer. I guess Isreali Prime Minister does not have a sense of humor when the issue is affecting Israeli and American weapons export to the poorest nations in Africa. Please lift th food embargo, but keep the weaopns embargo, we have enough weapons to kill each other, but not enough to eat in our break time, I mean between battles. Besides, we Somalis are known to be natural fighters, we love wars, life is tough in Somalia, most people want to go to paradise, so in a way, your weaopns shipment is relieving the pain of hungry and oppressed people whose only hope is to die, but Somalis, like to die in style, with full dignity as martyrs. You can also send Isreali oranges grown on stolen Palestinian lands, we will pay the Palestinians, through Isreali Banks, overseen by Coffee Anan and Condoleeza, Bancrupt and Indebted African Union, and you can keep an eye on the Finances, making sure that our Banana Anarchist Republic remains a good channel for your weapons exports for another decade of synthetic wars. Walaalo, in Islam, we either have the particular knowledge or we dont, if we have that knowledge source we are advised to follow it, if we dont have the knowledge source we are adviced to seek it, the great sin is incurred when a person neither has knowledge nor is willing to seek it from those who have the knowledge. Reality Check! Yes, The Quraan says: Wa maa aataakumu Al Rasuulu Fa Khuduuhu, wa maa nahaakum canhu fantahuu" meaning: Its obligatory on you to conform with teachings the Messenger has delivered to you, So, as I said, IT CAN LEAD, meaning depending on the reason of not accepting, if all the scholars have qualified the Hadeeth, for a lay person to question it without any metrics, it could be tantamount to a scape from oblication, which is the danger of Kufr. As for reconciliation of the Hadeeth and Quraan, its an entire knowledge body of islam, and beyound this thread, in a nutshel, No Hadeeth can condlict with a vesre of Quraan, but after reviewing the order of revelation of the verses of Quraan, applying the Naasikh and Mansuukh, filteration, and then checking for the contexual meaning of the hadeeth, ( Different Context can mean a world of difference) the two sources always agree. Its not their fault, People in the west are focused on their daily work, in the evenings they watch the evening news, they were told that the news is a reliable source of information, so they believe what they see to an extent (depending on their level of exposure to foreign travel and culture). The news media spoon feeds the western mind and forms their perception of the world, some time hiding disasters, and at times orchestrating false alarm, to fit the designs of the Murdochs and Media moguls. At one time in Germany, an entire ethnic group were targeted as traitors and many innocent lives wasted, then it was the Communist chase and Mc Carthyism, now enter the Bushladen era, ISLAM=TERROR is the daily dose that westerners are fed, ironically by a media closely related to Westerners with Jewish beckground, they are probably turning the table on Muslims whi they fear will jumb in bed with the Christians westerners, so the Westerners are acting like an enraged bull, and the Neocons are holding the red cloth in front of its eyes, that reads, Muslims=Terrorists. So no wonder young American boys are dying in Iraq for three undeclared objectives of the Neocons: 1. Destruction of potential powerful enemy of Isreal ( IRAQ) 2. Securing Oil. 3. Covering up of its Palestinian Masaccres. The real declared objectives for invading Iraq were: 1. Saddam have developed WMD, and can deliver within 45 days, according to Bush and Blair. 2. To Catch Bin Laden None of the above two is realized, so that leaves one to wonder, why not out the Dictator back in his place? If Saddam is accused killing people, The Coolition has caused the death of 65,000 innocent lives. If what they wanted was Oil, Saddam has worked with them before, he is a team player. Nur

Khalaf bro. The four Imaams and other Imaams that were as knowledgeable but never appreciated, have all mastered the Hadeeth Science to a degree, the Quraan and the science of Usuul Al Fiqh, which is the fruit of another Cilm known as Maqaasdul Shaaric, the Objectives behind legislation. The problem we have today is that we are bogged down on details of the laws while loosing sight of the objectives for which they were derived by the imaams in the first place. The sooner our present scholars address this issue the better. Nur

Lt. Xalane You write: So to answer ur question, nothing happens to a person who says the shahada while not understanding it or knowing it and the status of the person will not be different from before i.e is not muslim.Again,Allah knows best. Well put, Shahada is only valid when backed up with knowledge and certainty ( Yaqeen) as Allah says " Illaa man shahida bil xaqi wa hum yaclamuun" Except for he who bears witness of the Xaqq ( Tawxid) aided with knowledge" Nur

Islam as Allah's universal call for surrender to his will, is a binding order that mankind has the choice to either obey or reject, by forgoing the obedience of Allah and coming under his dominion willingly, mankind exposes itself to the consequences of their choice, what we believe and what not does not change reality, just like being blind does not make one safe when crossing a busy highway on foot. Islamism is the catch word referred to any thinker, scholar or student who sees what others dont, history shows that many great visionaries were also chastised for their visions, but the truth will remain that we live in a dangerous world in which the blind are driving mankind off from a cliff, the best most of us can do, is to get a window view of the lush green pastures before the crash , as eloquently described by Mawlana Mawdudi. An interesting read, Sophist bro. The writer says: The first of these items is what we call universalism, that is to say, that Islam does not limit itself to the upliftment of any given section of humanity, This is a section in Sayid Qutub's Book " Muqawimatul Tasawur Al Islami" The author is indeed proving in an elequent way that man can not stand alone. Femme sis The keyword of your question is RIZQ. What is Rizq? Here is a piece i wrote in response on a similar question, hope it answers your question. Your observation on the belief in Allah as provider of Rizq is partially valid, but most people mix between the fact that Allah provides Rizq and laziness in not seeking Rizq. If you have read other eNuri threads on this topic, Rizq is a done deal, but how you go about it is a world of difference. The iimaan of Rizq as a driver of our actions was documented in the following post of mine: Health, Wealth and Wisdom are forms of (Rizq) or sustenance that Allah SWT distributes to his servants. They are like a flowing river, and each one gets as much as she deserves through her actions. The Rizq ( sustenance) are of two types. 1. Rizq that you have to seek 2. Rizq that seeks you The first Rizq, will not come-by without working for it. The second Rizq will knock on your door without working for it. The first Rizq is a token of Allah's ( Cadl) justice. The second Rizq is a token of Allah's (Fadl) Generosity. Several factors drive most of our actions: First. Our search for survival ( Food and shelter) Second . Our search for Procreation ( Marriage) Third, Our search for security ( amn) fourth. Our search for Recognition The first one is guaranteed through RIZQ, every living creature will not die untill they consume all of their allotted RIZQ QUOTA. The second is also another form of Rizq, a Husband, or a wife, a daughter or a son is the fun of life ( Ziinatul Xayaati Dunyaa). The third type of RIZQ, security, can only be found through WORSHIP, because, iimaan as we have discussed is an offshoot of the word AMN, security, and without a firm belief of Allah one will never feel secure. The fourth driver, dignity and the search to be respected is granted to all mankind when Allah SWT ordered Satan to bow down to Adam, Adam was honored and recognized by all creatures that day, but Satan refused to respect him, thus a rivalry between Man and Satan began and continues to this day. The best way to be recognized is through adherence to Allah's commands and directives, but Satan influnces mankind to seek recognition through other means such as accumulation of vast wealth and power that is used to make mischief on earth. The Messenger of allah SAWS taught us that our Rizq is provided for us, but it is tied with our actions, so when you seek and get Rizq, it was Allah who ( Alhamaka) inspired you to seek and get Rizq. The Hadeeth reads " Jammiloo al talab" SEEK RIZQ with Grace. For examlpe if your Rizq today is couple of hundred schillings, you will get that amount, but the means to get it are your choice for which you will be judged in the day of judgement, you can work for that amount, or you can steal it from someone. Nur

Pacifict A Great topic, jazakellaahu kheiran. This is a topic that really needs to be discussed in depth and experiences shared. From my own personal experience, as a 10 year old kid, nothing hurted me more than telling a lie to get out of trouble, but I quickly learned that a lie is the beginning of many troubles, and definetly not the solution, so one day early on, I decided to always tell the truth, even if its inconvenient or if it seemingly exposes me to trouble. I can not recall of any decision in my life that has changed my outlook in life as profoundly as being truthful in all of my dealings, with humans, both freinds and adversaries and above all with my maker who sees my apparent and concealed intentions and actions. I must admit that at times I was laughed at for being naive and not "sophisticated", I hope that mine lasts longer, I chose simplicity instead, its not easy to swim upstream when its fashionable to go down in murky waters.. The Prophet Muhammad SAWS was reported as saying that telling truth leads to piety, and piety in turn leads to heaven, with the distinction of being honored as a truth teller by Allah, while telling a lie leads to sinfulness, and sinfulness in turn leads to hell, with the demotion of being damned as a liar by Allah. Ngonge bro. Writes; I hope my cynical instincts are wrong though and these guys spread with their (hopefully) genuine application of Islam to all parts of Somalia. Your cynicism is a wake-up siren, alarming against euphoric feeling of unfinished victory, its very healthy, your voice is needed as a check up, we will all be the winners if all of our intentions lines up with Allah's commandment, but like you said, our buddy, you know who, Satan is in the game, and he hates when brothers approach each other and hug.
