Gang of Somalis quizzed over shooting

It is understood they all have links to south-east London and have been living in Britain for some time.

The group – four men and one woman – was held during raids on Saturday in London.

Bradford's pioneering Automatic Number Plate Recognition system played an important role leading up to the arrests.

It was through the system, which is now operating nationwide, that the police traced a large silver car used as the get-away vehicle.

The system was launched in Bradford last May, and involves a series of fixed cameras placed at locations around the city.

They record every number plate which passes them. The technology enables officers to check vehicle details against police databases and to track any car identified to them within seconds.

At the launch of the system Chief Supt Geoff Dodd, of Bradford south police, said: "I believe that this is the best investigative tool we have had since the introduction of DNA analysis, which broke new ground for the police service." The four men and a woman were snatched in three separate operations.

They are being interviewed at separate police stations across West Yorkshire.

Another man, who was also arrested in the raids in London, remained in the capital last night.

The arrests were made by the Metropolitan Police's specialist crime directorate.

Northener, we're on the same page dude. I just wish what you'd said had been uttered by someone else. I would then commence the lynching proceedings. For the most part, you make sense and therefore I'll halt the attacks on you. I just need a victim today. Any volunteers? Alle-ubaahne?

Those blue cameras are a nightmare. If your car is not insured/taxed then it will pick you up, track you and inform the traffic police. I have been legal for 3 years (since starting work) but many people are not.

Castro, waar ninyho waa inagiiye, heeshis saxib :D

No doubt the Somaliness of the alleged will feature more prominently now.

I must agree with Castro and i think he meant that we somalis shouldn't be surprised that we're just like any other human race, flawed-with criminals running rampant in our society. For them to committ those murders and for it to shock you that it's at all possible sends the naive message that we somalis are above reproach and that our sense of morality and goodness is beyond all other people. Let's acknowledge that and now let's come up with solutions as to how to counter those deviants and it wouldn't be a bad idea to start with our own backyard(warlords having the time of their life in somalia). Those with the mentalily that a life can be easily taken and unworthy will always have that mindset regardless of where they are from.

The sad thing in this is that someone doing their duty was murdered and that now, we somalis, who have gone thru so much bad publicity, have one more thing to deal with. Those alleged perpetrators have not only shamed their families and themselves, but their society as a whole.

^ Do you know why many of these crimes go unattributed to Somalis? It's because our great parents and 'toll' would quickly wisk the junior criminal Faarax to Somalia out of the reach of the laws in the west. So when the criminals are apprehended before they're taken out of the country we're shocked. We're shocked the damn clan didn't buy the airline ticket fast enough to get the gangsta out of the country. The crime they committed is just details.

The message this sends to our kids, of course, is that it's ok to rob, rape, kill and destroy for the worst thing that could happen to you is chew qaad in Somalia. Oh what joy!

P.S. What would utterly shock me, though, is if that female with the four suspects was Somali herself.

Great!, issues affecting somalis cannot be commented about in a somali website eh?

Hey,Heres a fantastic idea: Jump on peoples' throats for expressing shock & sadness towards fellow somalites & while we are it, lets also shut down peoples' opinions shall we?

Statistically speaking,This is a shocking matter, not to mention a sad incident. Somali kids shooting police officers is not something that happens daily, certainly not in bradford. So lets stop acting as if this is the "Norm" for us. Its not. It’s a shocking & sad event for the families of the kids & the entire somali community in the greater UK area.

Yes Of course, every HUMAN being is capable of commiting crimes, we are not immune to it. But heck yea it’s a shocking & a sad incident. Better yet, no one should be sanctioned for expressing shock(Am actually shocked that people are shocked that they should be shocked). smile.gif

Further more, How many times have we seen even in communities that have high crime activities even express shock and sadness at such stuff.

How many times have we seen people appear on TV saying things like: "He was a nice kid", "We never thought he would do such stuff". "Its shocking & Sad for this to happen in this community". "He was a regular kid"(Even tho' we know he robbed store #1131 on the corner of campton & 84th).

Universal Rule: One expresses shock & sadness when unthinkable crimes are committed by one of their own.[Even if people knew it was coming].

Why must we ? Why o why??

Think Castro is looking at it through North American eyes, where police brutality is all too common and the homicide rate is alot higher. Gotta keep in mind though, the entire U.K. has close to the same amount of homicides as the city of Toronto (about 5 million people), which means the Homicide rate per capita is around 6-7 times lower in the U.K. In other words, english society is not used to hearing about gun violence in their midst, but what makes it worst is somalis were the killers and this police woman wasn't carrying any weapons. Things were bad enough after the london bombings, you had some in this forum making apologetic comments geared at a western audience as if MI-6 was monitoring every single word. I wonder what "cleverness" will be posted as a result of this incident.

^^ dude i'm partly serious think of how many somali's are gonna get socially lynched for their actions. Lets get in there first and do the job ourselves, then we can atleast say '..look we didnt like them much either..' with some credibility

Ok, damn it your right i'm being lame .. note to self 'should not trivialise everything'.

These boys are arses. Their actions are horrific. Given the moral contract the police hold with the civil public their actions belittle the core values we hold sincere and they cannot be excused or forgotten.

now whats the argument cant read too long.. fill me in in under 1o line if you can pls.. smile.gif
