Pending Demarcation of the Somalo-Oromo Boundaries

By Faisal A. Roble

June 07 , 2012

Official news reports coming from the Somali National State of Ethiopia, Jigjiga, and carried by WardheerNews confirm that the demarcation of boundaries between the Somali and Oromia regions is entering its final phase. If handled unfairly as did happen in the past, the results of such a demarcation could negatively impact the lives and properties of Somalis living in Liiban, Afdheer, Fiiq, Shiniile, Babili and Jigjga zones.

The ruling party in Oromia region, Oromo Peoples Democratic Organization (OPDO), is a member of the Ethiopian Peoples Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and a close partner of the Tigrian Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF). The question is whether Somalis are in any position to stop the expansion of Oromia territory at the expanse of Somali inhabited districts.

Wadani, the intentions of Zenawi's regime are well known. This purpose of the demarcation is to cause division and feud between Oromo's and Somalis. Wax fahan.

^^ As if there was no feud between oromos and Somalis before:D You can blame the TPLF for lots of things but the oromos and Somalis were always at war with each other.

Somalia

Oromo is just taking advantage of the chaos that is Somali region. The borders are very distinguishable, this is like Kenya trying to change the Somali maritime border.

Both majority of Oromos and Somalis are opposed to the regime. But Zenawi uses the old age strategy of divide and rule. As long as the people are distracted with these kind of petty local land disputes, they are focussed battling eachother rather then Zenawi. May I remind you that these border demarcation are false and unvalid with the historic one, as long as Diredawa etc are kept outside Somali region. wax fahma.

Amhaaras are also opposed to the Government sidamo also gurage also what is the difference the oromos want to landgrab Somalis. A tegaru from mekele or adwa is not a direct threat to a Somali ,in Somali galbeed this should not be confused with the TPLF regime.
