AMISOM, Al-shabab claim victory over a deadly fighting in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU(Sh.M.Network)- At least 6 people, including soldiers and civilians were confirmed killed and dozens have been injured in a heavy battle betweenSomaliaforces backed by AMISOM soldiers and Al-shabab militants inMogadishu, officials said on Friday.

 

Witnesses said The fighting which continued since on Friday morning took place after African Union troops, backed by interim government soldiers, advanced towards a key militant area, including a airport and hospital in Deynile town, on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

 

Paddy Ankunda, a spokesman for the AU peacekeeping mission in Somalia (AMISOM), told Shabelle Media by phone that Somalia and AU troops have seized most of Deynile district, where Al-shabab fighters have launched frequent attacks onMogadishufrom bases in Deynile.

 

On the other hand, Al-shabab commanders claimed victory over the combat, saying that the militants have burnt three military armored vehicles belonging to AMISOM and another possessed by TFG during the attack in Deynile area.

 

There were no any independent reports verify the exact casualties of the battle, but residents confirm that the situation is now calm and allied forces are still held the area.

Al-shabab never admit defeat. They always claim victory even when they are flashed out from their strongholds. I hope things calm down.

Well alshabaab is weakened every one knows that they have lost so many towns and cities the past few months but they are not defeated yet.

They have lost beledweyne badhabo and majority of Mogadisho and Garbaharay they are now fighting in the near districts of these towns/ Cities.They are fighting a guerrilla war now a whole different strategy,they still control Shabelada dhexe and shabeelada hoose including Jubada dhexe and jubada hoose the southern section of jubada hoose is in the hands of the Kenyans.

so far this is the most interesting part since they lost so much ground & certainly descend into oblivion soon.Will they keep going with their suicide missions or have some sense to see the end of light.
