Dont be sad.

Thought i'de share a little something uplifting I had the pleasure of coming across...

Life is toil

Don't grieve over the vicissitudes of your existence - you cannot escape hardship.

Life, for the most part, involves work and responsibilities. Happiness is an exception or only a fleeting phase that comes and goes sporadically. You long for this life, yet Allah does not want it to be a permanent abode for His slaves.

If this world were not a place of trial, it would have been free from disease and hardship; it would have been a comfortable abode for the best of men - the Messengers and Prophets. Adam faced difficulties and troubles until the day he left this world. Nooh's own people scoffed and ridiculed him. Ibraheem was tested by the fire and by the command of slaughtering his son. Ya'qoob was separated from his son and wept till he lost his sight. Moosa endured the tyranny of Fircaun and afterwards the disobedience of his own people. Issa was poor..(may peace be upon them) and lastly Prophet Muhammad (saw) patiently endured poverty and the impudence of his own people, and the loss of his loved ones.

The Prophet (saw) said;

"this world is a prison for the believer and a paradise for the disbeliever"

Contemplate and be thankful

"And if you could count the graces of Allah, never could you be able to count them" {quran 14:34}

remember the favours of Allah upon you and how they surround you from above and below. We have been given abundant favours, yet we feign ignorance. Notwithstanding food, water, sleep, good health, education etc..we still remain despondent and depressed. We think about what we do not have and are ungrateful for what we've been given. Let us reflect upon ourselves..our families..our friends..our deen. Let us contemplate and be thankful.

The past is gone forever

By brooding over the past and it's tragedies, one exhibits a form of insanity - a kind of sickness that destroys resolve to live for the present moment.

Episodes of the past are finished with; sadness cannot retrieve them, melancholy cannot make things right, and depression will never bring the past back to life.

Our tragedy is that we are incapable of dealing with the present: neglecting our beautiful castles, we wail over dilapidated buildings. If every man and every jinn were to try jointly to bring back the past, they would most certainly fail. Everything on earth marches forward - so should we.

Today is all that you have

When you wake up in the morning, do not expect to see the evening - live as though today is all that you have. During this day you should pray with a wakeful heart, recite the Quran with understanding, and remember Allah with sincerity. In this day you should be balanced in your affairs, satisfied with your alloted portion, concerned with your appearance and health.

"So hold that which I have given you and be of the grateful" {quran 7:144}

Deal with criticism

Those who are ignorant have uttered curses at Allah, the Exalted, so what treatment should we, who are full of faults expect from people? You will always have to face criticism, which in its onslaught is like an interminable war: it shows no sign of ending. Unless you become a hermit and move to the mountains, disapproval and condemnation will be your lot in life, so expect to be hurt, insulted and criticized.

That fact should not depress you however, a person who is sitting on the ground does not fall and people do not kick a dead dog. Therefore their anger toward you can be attributed to you surpassing them in righteousness. knowledge, manners, or wealth. In their eyes you are a transgressor whose wrongs cannot be atoned for - unless you abandon your talents and strip yourself of all praiseworthy qualities. So bury their criticisms by turning away and dismissing what they have to say. If you desire to be accepted and loved by all, you desire the unattainable.

Didnt mean to write this much, I just came across an interesting book and thought i'de share a little from it. Hope it benefits everyone in some way..

let's seek the pleasure of Allah, stand before Him in worship without associating any partners with Him. Let us ask Him ardently and wait patiently for His help. Truly He is Sufficuent for us; He is the One who cures; He is the Creator and Sustainer; He alone brings to life and causes death.

"O' Allah we seek refuge in you from anxiety and grief; we seek refuge in You from incapability and laziness; we seek refuge in You from miserlines and cowardliness; we seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from the subjugation of man"

Amin
