Mefsin is known to be a naive politician within the Tigre circles. He was the architect of Ethiopia's lost standing within the AU and international community when it comes to East African affairs. Zenawi lost much influence and prestige when Mefsin handed all decision-making powers to Uganda which is now the latest water-boy for the US and EU when it comes to Somali affairs. Zenawi supporters believe Mefsin was a gullible day-dreamer with no real vision for the country.

It was highly expected Mefsin would be sacked and/or be exiled to diminish his standing within the Tigre community (Mefsin is from an influential sub-clan). I wasn't surprised when he was sacked recently.
