Passport office opens in Garowe

Recommended Posts

GAROWE, Somalia Feb 6 (Garowe Online) - A Somali government-mandated passport office was officially opened Tuesday in Garowe, the regional capital of Puntland State in northeast Somalia.

The launching of the new passport office attracted Puntland officials, including Vice President Hassan Dahir Afqura, as well as representatatives of the Somali transitional federal government.

Abdullahi Gafow, director-general of the government’s immigration department, said at the opening ceremony that the Garowe office was the first but that the government planned to open offices in other Puntland cities like Bossaso, Las Anod and Galkayo.

Puntland’s Minister for Internal Affairs and Security, Ahmed Mohamed Habsade, became the first citizen in the region to receive the new passport.

The TFG disclosed a new national passport system for Somalia in January, the first in the country since the collapse of the central government in 1991.

Implementing the new Somali passport has been one of several challenges facing the two-year-old TFG, which assumed control of the capital Mogadishu with Ethiopian army support in late December from Islamist forces.

When is the food storage going to be opened, so the deprived Somalis could be fed, or you could give them their passports so they could go to other countries, which will provided for them. Since the so called Somali government isn’t capable of do so nor are they interested in providing or serving the Somali people.

Lol, what food storages are open for the Somali people? They live on $1 a day. Nobody closed them since there are barely any of them open. Isn’t the government required to provide for the people?

Naxar, here in Utah, sxb I don’t take welfare.

And you actually ignoring the poor Somalis which are in dire need of food and health needs isn't something to be proud of. People like only think about how Warlord Abdullahi Yusuf is doing. :(

Mystic, you can go and open stores if you want where you want in somalia, see if the TFG closes or refuse you to do so ,,,,,,,,, before that you need help

The governemnt has its own priority and now the security and othe governmental formalities are the priority so that people can work and make their own business.

Do you know the 60% of somaliland's budget goes to the security ??? ,,,,, coz it is the priority and that is why the life is becomeing easy coz ppl have access to work and make their own income instead of going to stores to get some few kilos of galley and daqiiq.

you should understand this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Do I look like I am the government? When it comes to providing to the masses, that is the government’s job. When you have 98 percent of the population is poor and malnourished you need to do something fast and quick! Well they are lousy at bring security, since Mogadishu is ten times worse than it use to be. The Government’s own priority is the “people”. Well that dry wheat could save a child’s life.

I hope to god mystic, that as our nation shakes itself from 16 years of anarchy and low-level civil war, we do not become one of those africans peoples who rely on left-over grian from dog food in the west. I hope that our government encourages people to be atleast self-relient on producing thier own food. Our government should insist on international donors to not give us " a fish" but to teach us "to fish".
