The idea of The Hargeysa International Book Fair, 2008, is to launch it the first time as a pilot project, but in the future to try and maintain it as a major yearly cultural event in Somaliland. We invited several Somali-speaking and non Somali-speaking authors to present their latest books in Hargeysa. We (insha'allah) will take there about 200 titles, books published in the Somali language that are currently in commercial circulation. We will also take there for display other books in foreign languages. These books are currently available from several distribution channels, so people will be able also to buy them during the event. We will also take there, only for display, books about Somaliland that are out of print, written both in Somali and in foreign languages. We expect approximately 1000 visitors a day mainly from the young generation. When? 21-22/08/2008 The book fair period will be two days, 21-22 August, the place is the "Guriga Shaqaalaha", the city center of Hargeysa. Jacaylbaro Posted August 21, 2008 You can see the books and order them online if you want. You can inform friends/family who are in Hargeisa about it. You can add it to your information in general. You can come to Hargeisa anytime in the future. You might write a book (somali or english) then you might look for a market , Some members can be now living in Hargeisa. Suldaanka Posted August 24, 2008 Excellent Jacayl Baro. Thanks for sharing this. About a year ago I got my hands on the book "Hal Ka Haleel" by Mudane Baashi. It is a wonderful book full of timeless classic poems, some of which I never heard before. He covers every little detail and history of each peom but I find he hasn't quite covered well about the legend Hadraawi's personal side. But anyways, wonderfull book for any Somali literature enthusiast. I want to get "Dhaxal Reeb" by Mujaahid Boobe, do you think I can buy it online? If so which website? Blessed Posted August 24, 2008 ^I think Hal Karaan, gives more details of the poets life. I bought Halka Haleel for Aabo sometime back but never got around to reading it myself.
