Political Associations Criticise Puntland Government for Policy Inconsistencies

Garowe (PP News Desk) — Six Puntland political associations have faulted Puntland Government for contradictory policies and inadequate response to the inflation.

In a statement sent to Puntland Post, Mideeye, Mustaqbal, Horseed, Dhalinyarada, Runta & Caddaaladda and Ifiye described the policy of the Puntland government as misleading.

“The two government decrees on the inflation have been contradictory, banning the use of the Somali shilling on one hand and instructing citizens to use the Somali shilling on the other” reads the statement.

Six Puntland political associations have expressed reservations about the democratisation process due to parliamentary power abuse.

Puntland political organisations clarified their stance on the recent decision to remove parliamentary immunity of eight Puntland MPs.

“The removal of the parliamentary immunity bypassed parliamentary procedures and bylaws” the statement added.

They expressed reservations about the democratisation process “as long violation of Puntland Constitution remains the norm in Puntland”.
