Torrential rains leave a trail of destruction in Hafun

Bosaso (PP News Desk) — At least five Yemeni fishermen died at Hafun coast after storms and torrential rains destroyed their boat.

The fishermen ventured into the Somali coast before storms and torrential rains had affected Hafun.

Six persons including Hafun district commissioner Mohamud Yusuf Garow have sustained injuries following collapse of houses in the district.

District residents evacuated their houses for a safer area on the outskirts of the district after the rains and storms caused many houses to collapse.

Their situation is reportedly dire due to an unusually cold weather with rains and storms.

Puntland State’s disaster agency is preparing an emergency assistance for people affected by rains and storms that put Hafun telecommunication system out of service.
