Gunmen Open Fire at Plain Clothes Soldiers in a Busy Mogadishu Road

Mogadishu (PP News Desk) — Plain clothes security men at Makah Al Mukaramah Road in Mogadishu exchanged fire with gunmen early in the morning.

The firefight erupted when gunmen in a tricycle taxi opened fire at the security men. Security forces shot two of the gunmen dead, and injured one gunman, who has been hospitalised.

The Federal Government of Somalia deployed plain clothes security officers at main roads in the capital city to keep a watch on CCTVs intalled on main roads. Al-shabaab operatives damage CCTVs and solar street lights in parts of Mogadishu.

“The strategy to deploy plain clothes security agents serves as remarkable deterrent against Al-shabaab operatives and robbers” said a Somali MP.

The Federal Government is beefing up security in the capital ahead of planned elections to take place in February 2021.
