Puntland forces carry out sweep in Bosaso following murder

Puntland security forces conduct operations in the coastal city of Bossaso, the headquarters of the Bari region on Wednesday following the killing of an army officer.

The planned operation came after a young man, Osman Ahmed was killed on Tuesday night by unknown gunmen who fled from the scene.

No group has yet claimed credit for the assassination, however, Al-Shabaab and ISIS-linked militants often carry out such attacks in the commercial town.

In the past few years, security in Bossaso has been gaining momentum and there have been routine security operations in the city.
