HIRDA in partnership with Human Concern International(HCI) recently distributed food in Southern Somalia in particular Gedo Region which is the worst hit area by the drought. This aid was the result of contribution made by the Somali and the Muslim Community in Ottawa Canada channeled through Human Concern International (HCI) and Somali Relief Fund (SRF). An amount of $10,000 was given to HIRDA to implement the project on the ground.

We have bought Maize, Flour and Cooking Oil which been distributed to 500 families in different remote villages where the drought had hit the hardest: Villages like Awdiinle, Caanoole,Tubaako,Malmal Kuus and Qotileey all of them in Gedo Region. Some of these families is the first time they receive humanitarian aid since the drought hit the region.

Our relief teams are now in a process of sending water tankers to remote rural areas where people needed water more than anything else.

HIRDA has also implemented other projects put forward by HCI. Last year HIRDA received a medical aid package worth approximately $300,000 in which we distributed in Mogadishu. The package included baby milk products and other life-saving medicines. The distribution was successful and benefited thousands of malnourished children and other sick people in the area.

It's not so much about caring as it's about doing the right thing walaal.

On a sidenote:

May Allah bless the individuals who donated the money as well as those volunteers and workers that lent a helping hand in distributing the food

Aamiin.
