Bar am Baro Scholarships for Somali Students in Somalia

Recommended Posts

Bar ama Baro Mission

As the first of its kind, a social network of Somali conscious individuals with the aim of making Somalia a better place through education, Bar ama Baro strives to build and sustain Somali talent by extending higher education scholarship opportunities to those who deserve in Somalia. We fulfill this mission in two principal ways:

  • Supporting Somali students who are willing to study in Somali universities by creating Bar ama Baro Scholarship.

  • Creating a community that aspires to higher values and shared responsibilities of one student, one school at a time.

How does it work?

  • Bar ama Baro reaches to and encourages student from Mogadishu University, University of Hargeisa, Puntland State University, and Amoud University to apply for Bar ama Baro scholarship
  • Bar ama Baro appeals to individuals across the globe mostly from the Somali Diaspor to sponsor students
  • Bar ama Baro allows a donor group to sponsor a student randomly through a computer generated lottery system.
  • Bar ama Baro connects the student, the donor group, and the hosting university where the donors make an attempt to pay directly to the university where the scholarship recipient is attending.
  • Bar ama Baro does not hold, or manage any fund locally, it simply facilitates the link between students, and sponsoring groups.

Value Statement

In everything we do, we seek to broaden participation, foster collaboration and heal community divisions.

^The first meeting was yesterday and already two students one from Amoud University and the other from Puntland State University get awards. Most schools charge between 150 dollars and 200 dollars per semester. This is not that big of imposition. I hope people will join the effort.

Gheelle.T..make sure you open local chapter or at least sponsor one student. smile.gif
