  1. MsWord, The Zaboor, Taurat and Injeel were revealed for a certain people and not the whole of humanity. The Qur'an confirms, completes and perfects the messages that was brought by the previous Messengers. The Prophet SAWS became a Prophet at the age of 40 and he was born on 570 AD; that would mean the Qur'an was revealed 610 AD on the month of Ramadhan.
  2. I read somewhere a wise man said that - everyone we meet in the course of our lives has something to teach us. Our daily interactions with other humans (whether pre-arranged or not) are not mere 'coincidences' or "just fate" but constant opportunities for enlightenment. The message could be love, compassion, tolerance, patience, perseverence etc. These kinds of 'Aha' moments hit us many times a day from the most unlikely sources and our brains have to be generally set on a 'certain wavelength' to be able to achieve maximum insight.
  3. I hope that Liverpool win after the return leg. I hate Juventus style of play...they play cautious and hope to overturn the results to their favour in Turin. It would be sweet to see Liverpool go through, but they'll need at least a perfomance like today's to get them through. Are Lyon heading out? I think PSV has a massive advantage after the away goal. I have a sneaky feeling about the Milan derby; we could be in for a suprise as Inter have no chance to win a major trophy this season except the CL  I hope the Rossoneri do what they have done the past six years - beat Inter in yet another derby

  5. Originally posted by MsWord: Viking, I know of no others, do you? MsWord, Then why did you say... It's sad and quite ironic that "the truth" these philosophers blindly searched for all of their natural life, except for Socretes though I'm sure there was some type of a Kutab at his time, they could of found it in the Quran which they discredited and dismissed because the truth (God,Ethics and etc) they've concluded, in order for it to be The Truth ought to be derived by using reason and logic rather than fideism nor revealed knowledge such as The Quran. Some if not most of the people mentionned lived before Muhammad and Issa PBUT...so what Kutab do you know of which they could have derived "The Truth"?
  6. I found this funny quote in the Swedish media by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2001 when playing for Ajax. "First I went to the left, and so did he. Then I went right, so did he too. Then I went left again...he then went to buy a hotdog!" 1. Zlatan comes in the 18-yard and faces Stefan Henchoz... 2. Zlatan pulls the ball with in to the left and Henchoz is following well 3. When the Liverpool defender follows Zlatan, he quickly turns to the other side 4. Henchoz is fooled and left wondering as Zlatan swiftly turns to left 5. Henchoz can only look on as the artist completes his masterpiece
  7. Hahahaha...18 questions and I'm mother teresa!

NGONGE, Good point. many people forget that when dealing with the Philosophy of/in Islam, there is no need (or means) to choose between the two (religion and philosphy), if one is a Muslim that is. Philosophy simply explains things...whether the issue at hand is God, ethics, laws, values, life, death, life after death etc. In Islamic philosphy, the arguments are based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. The emphasis of the usage of reason/intellect does not solely come from philosophers but we are urged as Muslims by Allah SWT (in the Qur'an and various hadith) to make use of our intellect and the faculty of reason.

  10. Why are people all wound up? Did you guys think that the Saudi govt was an Islamic govt? It is (and always has been) a corrupt monarchy.
  11. Viking's search and freedom to think could lead to Bidcah if one is not careful. Nur, Allah SWT tells us in the Qur'an that we should not follow practises just because our fathers (and forefathers) did them. We are obliged to learn the Straight Path and adhere to it. This is indeed a difficult task at times with all the differing intepretations that exist today. But without the freedom to think, one cannot find the Truth as I (as an example) was born to a people who believed that FGM is Sunnah, Mawlid was celebrated every year with a lot of valour, Saints were hailed with bun iyo uunsi every now and then etc etc. Even my own grandfather's grave has been an object for Ziyara by some people and alhamdulillah I have been questionning these kind of practises ever since I was a child. Only a free mind can look at these practises and be able to question them (and even distance themselves from them) despite the strong traditions that have enforced them through generations for many a years. Some Salafi brothers/sisters have played a major role in enforcing the Prophet's SAWS traditions in our regions and I applaude them for their efforts. I'm glad to be free from Taqleed/Ittiba' for (on the Day of Reckonning) I am solely responsible for my actions and would therefore be very careful not to depend on a one-sided intepretation of aspects of our Deen. None the less, I have great respect for all the scholars who put all their energy in serving Allah SWT and break down the Deen for the layman. They are the Friends of Allah SWT and I have the utmost respect for them all; and as the Prophet's SAWS tradition teaches us, they get one reward for the mistakes they make and two for everything they get right. It is important for me not to take anything at face value but scrutinise them using the Qur'an and Sunnah as reference and question why certain practises ought to be followed...thereafter make a choice.

  14. Originally posted by MsWord: Regardless of what era they lived in, the "conclusion" still stands MsWord, The Torah and the Injeel were sent to a specific people...In which other "Kutab" could these men have found "the Truth"?
  15. There are others who have a specific narrow agenda of defining all of Islamic knowlege to belong to a specific set of Ulema, thus creating resentment and strengthening the division of Xizbiyah among the Muslims. Originally posted by Salafi da'wa: Viking, The creed and understanding of the Salaf is the purest form of islam, other then it, is innovation mixed with truth, innovation is misguidance, and all innovation is in the fire! Salafi, So anyone who disagrees with the intepretations of a Salafi scholar is ahlul bid'a? Where have I heard this before... ...even ibn Taymiyyah himself was charged with kufr, Allah SWT ha noo sahlo.
  16. Nur, What say you about the hidden elements of Shirk? For example the keen following of certain things with vigor and zeal; I'm specifically referring to things that don't bring you closer to Allah SWT in any way.
  17. Rahima, Important issue inded! Many young Muslims are faced with this dilemma day in day out. Nur, I'm with you 100% on this! Originally posted by Salafi da'wa: Brother Nur, Where in any of here statement does she tie knowledge to a specific scholars, she said†" we should connect to the people of knowledge to the ulama in the land of the muslim, we do not have any ulama in this country ." Salafi, I think he was diplomatically referring (could be mistaken here) to you when he said; "There are others who have a specific narrow agenda of defining all of Islamic knowlege to belong to a specific set of Ulema, thus creating resentment and strengthening the division of Xizbiyah among the Muslims." Could the 'specific set of Ulama' be the Salafi scholars?
  18. Originally posted by MsWord: My "argument" is; Philosophers (except Socrates) could find "The truth" they search for in the Quran Because Socrates died before the Quran was revealed However, he could of found "the truth" he searched for in another Kutab Therefore The Truth can be found in revealed knowledge (In Islam to be exact) Some of the men mentionned lived either in pre-Islamic times and some were even born years before Jesus (AS). Where does that leave your argument Ms Word?
  19. Oh gosh! Wicked! I know ALL the Somalis in the pictures!
  20. -the couple arrives four hours late -food is served at about 2am -people are dressed extremely smart but everyone looks uneasy (including the bride & groom - they look like they are attending their own funeral) -for some strange reason, the cake never reaches the guys at the back -honeymoons are quite rare because the bride demands a massive wedding where obsene amounts are spent on the occassion What happens after the wedding you ask... well, they have about 3 and a half offsprings; the man is eventually imbibed in an internet and/or qaad addiction. The woman gains 20 kgs, hoards gold and is always involved in ayuuto/hagbad with her fellow females and they live happily ever after...

The first 20 mins was all Roma and Cassano Totti and Montella were linking up beautifully. LOL, sxb, I am not cocky, just saying as it was. You obviously are less objective when it comes to Roma Roma played very well in the first 20 mins (as u mentionned) and slowly died off. In the second half, there was only one team on the pitch. Remember that a game is not over until the last whistle and playing well for 20 mins won't get you anywhere...Sometimes, even playing well for 90 mins isn't enough. You have to see the game thru! Remember the way Man U won the CL in 1999? Bayern was far superior, played better and created more chances but they conceded two gals in the dying minutes. But that aside, it was good to finally see Chivu Again at the heart of our defence. The Pairing with Ferrari looked much better than anything i have seen so far this year. I've always been a big Chivu fan ever since his days at Ajax. It's a pity that he's been out for so long. The first half was Roma's and not milans, Kaka and Pirlo subdued. True! Second half was Milan's, they stepped up a gear and the Roma midfield and attack were running around like lost sheep. Totti could hardly give an accurate pass in the 2nd half. I remember when he started playing for Roma at age 17, Jonas Thern was their team captain and Zeman their coach (or was it Liedholm temporarily) and I've always thought Totti was a great player. But his primadonna attitude and short temper hinder him from being a "world class" player. I'd say that The difference between the two teams was simply the professionalism. Montella and Totti missed early chances and Milan scored with the First real chance. Milan's side is extremely experienced and that shines thru well in their games this season. Roma have talented players who remind me of games of 'bacaad', the one touch fooball you play in the neighbourhood with a lot of flair and very little discipline. First real chance? You forgot Crespo's chance when he was one one one with the goalie and he saved with his feet in the air. The fact that mister nice guy Cafu took a chunk of Curefe's Left shin didnt help either, as u would observer that pannuci was switched to left back and Crespo enjoyed bullying the hapless old timer. That's just excuses sxb. Milan were missing the best defender and the best striker in the world but it wouldn't be an excuse if they lost. Injuries are always unfortunate but you have to cope!...look at Liverpool's game this weekend against Everton, they lost three players in the first half, these things happen. The best Roma I've seen the past 15 years was the couple of years Capello was their coach. He controlled the huge egos and brought in some quality players. Like I said earlier...they need to get rid of the two big-headed players in order to get anywhere...if not, they need an equally arrogant and very strict coach like Ferguson, Camacho et al. to keep them in check and bring the best out of them. These lads should learn from the likes of Maldini; 20 years in Milan's first team and he hardly picks up yellow cards, never argues with refs, sent-off ONLY three times in his long career and is a good role-model.
  25. Which league is the best in Europe this year? In the knock-out stage... -Italy had 3 teams, all 3 went thru. -England had 4, 2 went thru. -Germany had 3, 1 went thru. -Spain had 2, both were knocked-out! I was hoping Milan would draw Chelsea since they have beaten Inter in the semis two years ago and Juve in the final. They also beat Bayern twice on the way to that final. Chelsea and Milan are the best sides in Europe today and a final between the two sides would be exciting to watch, let's hope they don't get eliminated in the quarters or semis.
