    Who will return swiftly back to Minnesota or Muqdisho and very disappointed, lashing. I am of course talking about the two dear, wise, well-learned, very knowledgeable, erudite, scholarly and, of course, giant intellectual scholars of Soomaaliya: Axmed Ismaaciil Samatar and Cali Khaliif Galeyr.

    Cabdi hal magac ma'aha. Magaca cabdi sagaashan iyo sagaal magac ayuu matalaa, marka caadi (err, cabdi) iska dhig. Plus it is not unique to us. Reer Iiraan also use it, albeit few and far between.

     

    What do you suggest us to use? Ullah suffice, a la Afgaanka iyo Bakistaanta? No, dankis.

    For the English language speakers: Today I have officially withdrawn my support for Somaliland independence. Although I was suspicious for a long time, it has now become very clear to me that Somaliland is completely in the grip of the Ethiopian regime. The elections and other political talk shows are just a smokescreen for the real direct rule from Addis Ababa. The last evidence I needed was the rapid and serious consequences for Cabdiraxmaan Dabcasar when he naively spoke in Hargeisa about liberating the Somali region of Ethiopia.     Lacagtaan includes "assistance" and "humanitarian" aid provided to AMISOM, Blackwater mercenary people, folks in Xalane/Nayroobi and the likes, which is the bulk of these. Not a single dollar was directly given to any Soomaali dowlad in the last 27 years.

     

    Only Turkiga did directly gave financial aid to Soomaali governments and directly assisted with development. Some Khaliij Carab countries periodically handed out handheld suitcases of cash, which used to disappear before it reached to Xamar.

     

    Thanks to Turkiga, now it is changing, though. Others, including Mareykanka and Qadar, are committing hundred of millions of direct aid.

    What a coincidence!

     

    My sister was talking about your uncle a few weeks ago on a family Whatsapp group. She was sharing old pictures of the family. While looking those old pictures of us, she came across in her possession this image below taken by Cali Mataan Xaashi as it says at the back of the picture. The lady pictured is named Saciido Iidle Xasan, perhaps you might know her as well.

     

    The family couldn't figure out, but the older ones thought she was probably an old friend of my other sister, who passed away. This image has been with the family probably since 1970s, I am guessing.
