I will be frank here, I think Eid party/ruwaayads are one of the best entertainment events. I have been going to them every year and i have no intention of deviating from tradition. smile.gif

Yes, celebrate with family all day, take the kids out, give them money, take your parents to the prayer, maybe have a fiest and invite all family and fiends to your house. But after all this all day, its good to let it go and enjoy the evening and mingle with people you hvn't seen for a while, people of your age group. For me, I see people i hvn't seen the longest at eid prayer and eid ruwaayads, there are people who don't go out, but only do it eid night.

Yes, any party has consequences religiously, but that is between god and his creatures. You can't shun eid party, but celebrate new year.

I started Ramadan on sunday 26th also. but Eid will either be Tuesday or Wednesday. Thats what i been hearing, so I will wait late monday night if i hear anything, if not, than difinitely will celebrate Wednesday.

  3. Yes you should keep tommy.

Personally, i think tommy stuff are just wack. But about the comment he made regarding minorities, i just don't buy it. If it was true, you would not have seen black artist publicly wearing his clothes. Also, someone who made that kind of comment would just turn around and 'pay' blacks to wear his clothes, remember Aaliyah was spokes person for his brand one time.

I was thinking, once kids are out of the house, retirement will be perfect, atleast thats what I'm planning for me and my princess. You see, my dream is to retire ASAP and enjoy life. I have no intention of working, working, and working until death. :D

So far I am sticking with Haword Dean,,,he seem to be saying all the right things (except the flag issue) but he seems viable alternative to the rest.

  7. I too had seen jin, a neighbor had it and I vaguely remember wadaads beating the girl with belts and reading the Quran loud. It was very strange experience, how can someone talk and demand things but its not really them talking but it is the jin. Apparently, a guy liked the girl and he went in to her as a jin, however after few days of Quran and beating the jin left and the girl turn out fine. The jin use to try to intimidate the family, he would say things like "i will kill you all tonight" but nothing happened lol.

My intent for posting the article wasn’t to create nuisance for the nomad sisters, but to merely highlight bookworm women who have chosen to be housewives or family engineers. Thus, refute the notion stay home mothers are some how inept or incompetent intellectually and professionally. I have heard/read a lot of responses like “I invested too much in my education to be a housewife” from sisters, hence they assume someone who is educated does not merit being stay home mother, thus, only uneducated or ignorant are to be a housewife. The article disapproves that view and that’s why I thought it was an interesting read and important addition to the ongoing discussion of housewife/career women dilemma.

Personally, not against females who would like to pursue a career per se, matter in fact, more power to them. But, I do have a problem with sisters who in an attempt to appear “enlighten” put down other sisters who are or choose to be housewives or caregivers. We should be complimenting those sisters for taking on a hard task of raising/molding a whole person by being there for their kids and bringing up well rounded young adults.

Glad you enjoyed the piece; someone in another forum mentioned how this article is a nightmare to militant feminist, but if it just “got your nerves” than your coming around, I though you would lock your self in a room or something lol j/k of course. Also, good luck with your search of a stay home fella.

  9. This is serious issue for Africans in general and Somalis in particular. No one is talking about it but there are large number of somalis who were sent for education purposes but never went back, that was before the civil war and now is even worst. Now there are so many somalis who can make a lot of difference back home, but are unwilling to set foot on somali soil, they just are way too confortable. Also, other African countries are in the same situation too. I once saw a Nigerian doctor, she was talking about Nigerian doctors association of U.S, which has about 300 plus doctors  , can u imagine what those doctors can accomplish in their own country? it's a shame.
